EDIT: Ninja'd. ^ You did it better.

Anyway, despite the things that bother me with this movie, which I've already stated earlier, I'm excited for Rises.

So anyone else notice just how ragged/old/tired Bale looks when he's dressed as Bruce Wayne. Looks like that 8 year time jump hasn't been gentle on the ole Batman.

I'm currently operating under the assumption that this movie is at least loosely based around the comic book of the same name. The basic plot is that Batman puts the cape and cowl back on after having retired from it for several years, and his age (he's like 50 or 60 in the comic when he does this) is a huge factor. He's still Batman, but his inner monologues are sprinkled with a lot of glory days stuff, basically him complaining about his knees or back, mostly.

What I mean is, I'm really fucking hoping for Nolan to be doing that. Because if he is, it's going to set the tone for at least the next decade of superhero movies, if he does it right. The Dark Knight Returns set the tone for the next decade of comic books, and some might argue that that tone is still being followed to this day, nearly 30 years after it came out.

New trailer. Can't understand what exactly Alfred jokes at the end.

Also, I'm pretty sure that the battle between police and criminals will be the most joked scene of this film.

Joke was about him getting his ticket stub lifted by Catwoman I think.

That shit was retarded. I'm sure while watching the movie that's going to seem awesome, but what the hell. Use your guns, grab some batons, tear gas, etc...

Would have been more awesome if they went all out and gave both sides guns. :sherlock:

I thought it was maybe his first time as Batman again and him getting injured maybe?

    Looks fucking good.

Bane figuring out his identity will probably be really good as not many shows tend to ever have the villian figure it out.

Really good? I don't think so, personally. I' sick and tired of the "I know your secret identity" trope.
I did, however, enjoy how Bane mockingly says "Mister Wayne", in the trailer.

    Fixed.

Batman movies tend to shit down Spiderman Movies mouths often enough that I can give them the benefit of the doubt.

The Spider-Man movies had their failures, but at least they never sank to this level.

I recently rewatched that and actually enjoyed it. Always had a soft spot for Uma Thurman after seeing her butcher dozens of people with a katana.

Then you are not a true fan. :p

But seriously - first two Spidey films were great. And let's forget about the last one.

As for Bane knowing what Batman's identity is - how is that different from the last films? Ra's knew it and used it. I suspect that Joker also figured it out and used it to make sure that Bruce will save Dent, not Rachel. There is nothing new to it.

Spiderman and Batman are two very different superhero movies. The first two spiderman films were awesome, the new one looks pretty kick ass too, and the last two Batman films were real prices of art. But the two series, especially recently, have been told by two different storytellers however in fantastic ways.

I recently re-watched the first two Spider-Man movies with my kids, and enjoyed the hell out of them. Of course Willem Dafoe was incredible but I had forgotten how really, really good Alfred Molina was as Doc Ock. Maguire was meh, and I was forcibly reminded how unattractive Kirsten Dunst is. There must be ten thousand better-looking (and more talented) actresses within a 50-mile radius of whichever studio made these movies, and yet she's what passes for a hot redhead?

As an aside, Peter should have fucked Louise, the landlord's daughter in SM2, and I, for one, thought Doc Ock's wife was a damn fine MILF the first time I saw the movie, and I just reaffirmed that during the re-watch.

    EDIT:

SHIT! That Ursula chick is who I meant, and happened across "Louise" on the imdb page, not knowing the girl's name or looking too closely at the picture. Yep, I'm a dumbass. And I think it goes without saying (or if it doesn't then it should) that Peter should've made a move on Betty Brant, seeing as she was played by the lovely Elizabeth Banks.

I can say with certainty though, that J.K. Simmons' J. Jonah Jameson was perfect and just about stole the whole show. Just a spot on portrayal.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled Batman 3 programming - Same Bat Time, Same Bat Channel!

You could add Ursula Ditkovitch and Betty Brant to that list, too, as far as coming out ahead of MJ is concerned.

    In that case: Fucking. Signed.

    Absolutely.

He's pretty cool, in general. I liked him on Law & Order, The Closer, and so on, but he even made a great J. Jonah Jameson.

    Hehehe.

    Nope.

Joker: You know, for a while I really thought you were Dent. The way you threw yourself after her.

That is why he kidnapped Rachel too. He never figures out that Batman is Wayne.

He knows that Batman (whoever that is) has something for Rachel. That's all.

I thought James Franco did a really amazing job in those movies as well. He actually made some of spiderman3 tolerable for me.

And notice that Dent was suspiciously absent in that scene where Batman jumped after Rachel.

But near the end he may have guessed it, depending on how public the relationship between Rachel and Bruce was. But he really didn't care anymore did he?
