You know something that should have been added, would be when he hands Fury the cell back Harry asks. "Why does your phone have the words 'Bad Motherfucker' on it?"

    Shit just got real.

    Also:
That doesn't sound right. Are you sure it's the correct form?

    This new chapter is awesome.

I especially liked the part when Bruce freaked out at the cloak.

I had no idea how much I wanted this story until you started writing it. Really enjoyable.

Most interesting thing for me is future interaction between Harry and 'the other guy'.

I am a bit confused. How does Stane already have the suit built? This shouldn't be possible for 2 reasons.

    1. Stane does not even get a hold of Tony's old prototype suit from Raza until after Tony flies to Yinsin's village to destroy the stark weapons the Ten Rings terrorist group are using there. Therefore, Stane's scientists should not even have begun working on creating the suit Stane is currently using.

    2. In the movie, his scientists couldn't recreate Tony's miniaturized arc reactor to power the suit. Stane had to attack Tony at his house and steal Tony's arc reactor to use for his own suit.

    3- Mark I stopping Hulk's blows?

And I think you use waaaaaaaay to much italics but that's a rather personnal opinion.

Some things are different, obviously - and given that the suit and how the hell he got it don't really shine here yet, you are a bit quick on the draw. Stane's been dealing with more than just the Ten Rings: the fact that he even has the suit done, let alone a suitable powersource, is related to the second group in question. (Comic-savvy people might've guessed who they are already.) Not only is the suit done earlier, but it's superior to the one shown in the original Iron Man, we'll get to that next chapter.

This does mean that Iron Man is running on full power, btw. No more running out. :p

Yes, the Mark 1 stopped a Hulk hit - rather obvious hint that there's more going on than in the original movie. Butterfly flapping its wings and all that.

The italics here are mostly one character calling another. -shrug-

You should have had Tony cut out immediately after he said "cooler passphrase than portus"

It takes a few moments to activate - that's basically the same as in canon where they do a countdown. ;)

I don't quite understand why Harry couldn't cast a spell. He is perfectly able to cast spells silently. That device doesn't stop him from thinking which is really the only requirement if one has a wand. Hell, Harry has cast spells using a wand that wasn't even in his hand in book 5.

Honestly, I was kind of hoping it wouldn't go this route. It feels like a slight rehash of Iron Man. I thought you would leave the movies alone and keep the interactions to a minimum while giving Harry his own problems to solve.

The terrorist plot line combined with Stane having a much better suit with it's own power source leads be to believe the group that is involved is Advanced Idea Mechanics. Link provided for those of you unfamiliar with the group.

As for Banner, I'm going to assume that he isn't very mad at the moment which is why Stane wasn't demolished by that punch.

You've established that the technology in question has some magical resistance or at the very least the thing that powered it doesn't go haywire as soon as it gets around magic with Tony's suit. I'm unsure how I feel about this. It seems like it is magic but it isn't. Apparently when certain things in your story hit a level of technology they don't react poorly around magic anymore though they aren't magic.

It is an interesting concept. Perhaps, it has something to do with the fact that it is a self sustaining power source?

That massive metal suit might be difficult for Harry to attack with certain types of magic. We know physical objects can block even the killing curse though they suffer massive damage in the process of blocking it. Still there should be nothing preventing an attack using transfiguration or just blasting it with a powerful enough curse so that it destroys the suit if only bit by bit.

Though, I'm assuming Harry will end up sitting out a good portion of this battle due to the paralysis. He'll need to find a solution for such things.

EDIT: @Roarian I don't think it takes a few moments to activate in canon. I think that particular portkey was just set to activate at a certain time.

I don't recall him doing much magic when Dumbledore petrified him at the end of HBP though, which was pretty much exactly what happened here. He wouldn't be able to aim his wand either, whether at himself or at Stane, although your mileage may vary on how much that matters I guess.

as shinysavage said, I was going by the one definite time Harry's paralyzed and desperately would have cast a spell if he'd been capable; I don't think giving him crazy wandless magic or whatever is really the way to go, here.

Not everything's just thrown aside with Harry's interference - though differences are snowballing, the Stane plot was going to happen sooner or later, and it's already significantly different from canon. I suppose you wanted entirely separate from any events in the movies. :)

    You have been researching. ^^

Better suit + Hulk that hasn't been sufficiently riled up, pretty much. :p

It's sort of a combination of Clarke's third law along with the sort of magic/tech hybrid that Asgardians represent. The arc reactor (and Tesseract for example) are the closest thing that the humans have to that kind of tech and it's similar enough that it doesn't blow up in Harry's face.
(I have the amusing mental image of Harry with a mobile phone that runs on an arc reactor. Overkill. :p)

Harry will be involved, though getting in between the Hulk and his punching bag isn't a great idea. The military will be gunning for Bruce too though, more so than for Stane, whom I'd imagine is an unknown compared to the green guy.

Well, all the ones we've seen aside from touch had a countdown, even the one Dumbledore made earlier to transport the weasleys and harry; he waited for a painting to answer him, so I don't imagine he'd set up the duration ahead of time and just guessed right. Regardless, it makes for amusing mid-sentence interruptions. ^^

Cue massive AIM operation targeting Harry, with the goal of taking his mobile phone off him.

Soooooo I come on and see all this talk about mark 3 stopping Hulk Smash and everything seems to indicate chapter 13 is up!

I can't find it. Or any chapter with Tony being portkeyed. Last thing I can find is Hiemdal thinking someone (harry) miiiiiiiiiight have slipped past him.
So. Is chapter 13 up? or am I just missing awesomeness?

EDIT: NVM. Found it. (You might want to link/label it though.... for the rest of the people (like me) who are to dumb to find it)

The next portkey's activation phrase should totally be Candlejack. Anyway, it's great that you're still upda

If you recall during that time Harry talked about powerful wizards being able to counter spells like that in that state. Given that that particular spell was cast by Albus Dumbledore using the elder wand, we can safely assume it is more than just a paralysis charm. We don't even know the full effect of what that charm was meant to do, but Harry using the elder wand was able to repair a magical object...

Beyond that, we have 5th year when Harry loses his wand before he is even out of school being able to cast a lumos from a wand he isn't even holding. Combine this with the additional training and skill he has picked up over the years and the comment from the scene you used as a reference, and I think it doesn't make much sense that he couldn't cast a spell in this situation.

So, I don't consider that particular argument for him not being able to cast a spell to be a good one. I could see him not being able to cast a spell that stopped the paralysis and him being limited in the spells that he could cast since he couldn't even point his wand, but I don't think he should simply not be able to cast magic at all. At the very least he should be able to get a decent shield spell in place to protect himself.

I understand the knee jerk reaction to not wanting Harry to be overpowered, but I think there are other ways around that.

If this experienced Auror Harry had been immobilized by some magical force, or anything along the lines of mystical, then I could see him working his mind and magic to free himself. This particular device however, targets the nervous system--paralyzing most motor functions (diaphragm and heart still seem to work, fascinating on how people forget that's a muscle too; of course the sonic thingy could only target the skeletal muscles). Such a pure physiological phenomenon could be as difficult to will away as a gunshot wound.

@Roarian: When Harry got paralyzed, he should have fallen down right there. There are dozens of muscles constantly working just to keep you upright--paralyzing those would make you fall flat on your face or back. In the movie, Obadiah only used it twice--both times on targets who were sitting.

Fucking A.I.M. and/or fucking Hydra.... obviously Stane isn't as blatant as a road flare when he sells his shit under the table in this universe at least or SHEILD would have accidented him to death by now.

I do think after Stan mentioned Harry being a spy, he would have tried to get some more info from him. If nothing else, just a simple, "Before you take me, just who will you be taking me to". I doubt Harry will answer, but at least have him try to get an answer.

It'll probably be a few days before there's a new chapter - the next one's partially done but I have to switch it out a little. Need to get a few of my other ideas out - probably chapter or two of my other stories - before I go to finish 14.

    Cheers.
