Concur with everything, I didn't sleep the night I was reading this and it was a blast with a really captivating and charming protagonist, good writing and a very solid writing style. Easily in my top five Naruto stories.

 

I am loving this work, honestly. The plot devices, from power-up to team composition, are refreshingly different. Naruto's character starts out entirely canon and develops from there, rather than the standard of guilty pleasures where he "pulls off his mask".

More so, the author is developing the plot away from canon as soon as possible. Their first C-Rank wasn't to Wave and had some nice fight scenes. He's even doing world building that you generally never see in a Naruto story. More so:

Naruto's team is tasked with assassinating Gaara during the Chuunin Exam.

I am hard to please and that story keeps me well entertained. I'd recommend it across the board.

 

If this story doesn't make it to the library, I don't know which will.

 

It is an entertaining story, and rather well written. It does lack polish though, and suffers from short chapters. While it does mean we usually get daily updates, it also makes the story a little more disjointed than it could be.

 

I'll join the bandwagon for Naruto Iron Soul. I've just finished reading all 28 chapters and it's a good read. Good enough for the library, I think. The author has struck a nice balance between making Team Nine powerful but not unreasonably so, and the plot has been interesting enough that I haven't minded the lack of real story progression. I also like the way he glossed over the genin killing people; they've been trained since early childhood, of course they wouldn't mind it.

 

I like the story but I find his try hardness to make it less Japanese annoying.

 

I wish more people cut all the Japanese out of their fics.

 

This. It was unnecessary and sounded stupid.

The story was enjoyable and had some interesting ideas but I found myself skimming it regularly. It may have just been the mood I was in but it felt like there were numerous scenes which could have been condensed without losing anything. Especially during the first few chapters which were mostly training.

Matter of taste I guess, I don't mind people using english names for attacks and no suffixes but Teacher instead of Sensei just annoyed me.

 

I would agree with this.... if he hadn't just substituted English words for their Japanese equivalent. English using the same syntax as Japanese simply doesn't work nearly as well, and makes it somewhat jarring to read. It's not make-or-break in my mind, but it's still a rather glaring issue.

I'd rather he pick a side and go with it instead of trying this middle ground shit.

 

It was awkward at first, but as the story moved on it became something that I liked, Ebisu calling Naruto "student" and Naruto calling him "Teacher". I didn't see it as a direct translation of the Japanese version, because Japanese teachers call their students by name, don't they? At least in the Narutoverse, they do.

Rather, it is a unique aspect of their relationship that makes it all the more real, not tryharding anti-japanese.

Nothing ground breaking but I like the straight forwardness of it and the lack of drama. Even if it makes it feel less real, it's a nice and light read.

 

It isn't bad, although the slash means I won't be reading any more than the first two chapters.

Edit: never mind, went to read the A.N and indeed it's going to be a Kakashi/Iruka pairing. I will take a wait and see approach in this case, if it stays in the background as the author said and if there is not a lot of descriptions, I think I'll keep reading.

 

He's probably just assuming because Kakashi and Iruka are listed as the main characters. Understandable given how FF.net usually is, but probably not the case for this story. There haven't been any hintings to such a thing yet, at any rate.

 

From the second chapter. I guess it hasn't appeared yet, still i'd rather avoid it than eventually give up because it has been reduced to Kakashi and Iruka doing each other.

By no means is it great, and I haven't read it it a while, but from memory it's alright as far as spelling and grammar go. The idea is what appeals more than anything. However the more I think about it the more I realise that it isn't really 'quality'. Still it may appeal to someone and it's over 200k if that means anything.

Minato, for whatever reason, feels threatened enough by Danzo (and the dreaded "civilian council" or whatever) that he sends Naruto to an orphanage instead of telling people that he's his son. Minato as a drooling idiot is one of the more distasteful cliches. The fact that it looks like this was posted within the space of 3 weeks also suggests that it was not beta'd, and it sorely needs it. Just bad.
