Given the purpose of the Elder Wand's creation, I expect that any spell used for offensive or defensive purposes should work much better than if it was cast with a non combative intent. So, yes I suspect.

Eh, that is quite the assumption you're making. It doesn't see very plausible, to me at least.

Magic in HP canon is mostly universal in application. When one examines the only high profile duel in the books, AD vs LV in book 5, one can find that Dumbledore generally used spells that could be applied to everyday life, and he used the Elder Wand. Animation and transfiguration mostly. Therefore, as Republic says the 'unbeatable' quality of the wand most likely comes from the perfection of the spells cast by the wielder.

Unbeatable does not mean partial to one kind of magic, it can also denote a general enhancement of regular spellcasting. The manner of said enhancement is left to the author.

You are assuming you can even clone magic. It could just lead to a squib or the operation failing altogether. After all magic and technology don't exactly get along. The blood of a normal wizard could cause problems. We don't even know how Harry being the Master of Death would factor into this especially since this is the Marvel verse and Death actually exists....even though there is a different Death for each universe. I wonder if Harry is somehow connected with the Death of this universe too.

Overall, the chapter was pretty good. I feel the Army is quite dumb. They can't even handle the Hulk and they want to go after Harry because that makes sense.

I was about to say that we don't really know that Death exists in this universe, then I remembered the hint at the end of the Avengers. Does that mean Death technically does exist here then?

Either way, I don't think Harry's magic or him being the Master of Death would really cause the entire cloning process to fail - wizards are pretty much human. It doesn't really matter though, as they wouldn't be able to use any magic at all unless they learned it from somewhere.

I don't really see your point about the army being dumb for thinking they might be able to handle Harry. They don't really know much about him yet - for all they know he might have some huge weakness they can exploit unlike the largely uncontrollable Hulk.

So am I the only one who had always though the whole "Master of Death" stuff in canon was entirely metaphorical? I've never understood why anyone would think it would be anything but.

It was metaphorical, yes, but that is just so boring. It gives way too many possibilities in fanfiction not to be altered.

Oh, fair enough, it's just I always find myself incredibly annoyed or delighted by its inclusion, depending on how well it's done.

Because it has been hinted at in this story that it means something more than just being an average wizard.

Fatality, you said it yourself. Wizards are pretty much human, but they aren't fully human. Magic has it's own set of rules especially in regards to creation.

As for your comments about the Army. What you are saying is essentially the equivalent of hey I know that country has nuclear weapons that could cause lots of damage and seems to be able to stop any projectiles fired at it, but we should attack it anyway on the off chance that it does have a weakness that we can find out in the middle of battle and exploit so that we don't get completely destroyed.

This guy took direct hits from the hulk, deflected Iron Mongers attacks, walked through fire as if it were nothing, brought down Iron Monger, conjured a field of fire, etc. Also, it can teleport and there is no real way to stop said teleportation. No sane person would ever attack something that powerful with so many unknowns involved. Hell, even Fury upon seeing his power wondered why he even agreed to work for them to begin with.

If you go by Rowling's logic, magic is apparently purely genetic so cloning should make them magical. Not really sure what you're talking about in regards to magic's rules on creation as I don't remember anything like that - other than that you can't conjure up food, but I don't see how that is related.

Also, forgive me if I'm missing something, but I don't remember the army ever saying they were going to try and hunt down/attack Harry. Ross said he wanted to up the risk level and priority of the case and that he wanted to obtain a blood sample to study and reproduce. They haven't explicitly stated they want to kill him or anything - just that they want to reproduce his powers and understand them better, probably so that he isn't so much of a threat.

First - blood sample - Harry cut himself up when Hulk punched him and it is possible it was smeared on the ground.
Second - when Voldemort was monologuing in GOF, he said:

So it would seem that Voldemort purely through his soul and possessing some ordinary animal could cast some sliver of magic.
I think soul is involved somehow also.

P.S. In Star Wars universe there was also thought about cloning Force-sensitives..But Force would not be bound by science (c) :)

Which they conveniently forgot for the last shitty Force Unleashed game, at least as far as I can tell from what I've read about it.

@Roarian: If you're still planning on using Spider-Man, the new movie is actually pretty good. If you see it and you want to use that version for your fic, I don't think you'll encounter much resistance. Though if you're already set on using another version/your own, that's perfectly fine too.

Completely off-topic, but I thought I'd come in and say something on this topic.

Having played the game, it's never explicitly revealed that you are not Starkiller. Yes, Vader and some others say that you are a clone, but they could be lying, twisting the truth to fit their motives so that you would think you needed to prove yourself when you already had.

Granted, those clones at the end were just ridiculous, and do lend credence to the theory of the character being a clone, but I prefer him being Starkiller. Because honestly, someone who's actually more powerful than Luke is fucking welcome, in my opinion. I'm sick and tired of Luke being the Messiah of the Star Wars universe, and I don't even follow the shit.

On-topic; I'm waiting for all of this portkeying about to blow up in Harry's face. He's pissing off Heimdall, and I'm wondering if there'll be a scene where Heimdall reaches out and just grabs Harry, mid-portkey.

Also, magical!Hulk would make an already broken character even more broken. I mean, seriously, a power source that is rage, of all things?

Off-topic: It has been left to us to decide whether the protagonist from TFU2 is a clone or not, but cloning a Jedi has been achieved, at least once. Cheesy and cliche as it sounds, Vader managed to clone an Evil Version(TM) of Starkiller. He is visible through the Dark Side ending.

What many people confuse is that while the Dark Side ending is not canon, what it means is that the Dark apprentice didn't attack, not that he doesn't exist. The fact that he remains cloaked during the Light Side ending means that even now, Vader is in control of the situation.

On-topic: MOAR angst from Harry over the fact that he showed his abilities.

If that was the case you could duplicate items for potions and never actually have to bother with paying for ingredients. If magic can't duplicate magical items, I doubt muggle technology can duplicated something that isn't even bound by the very principles upon which the muggle technology was created to clone things.

It has already been pointed out the Voldemort didn't need his body or even a magical body to use magic which tends to imply there is much more to it than simple genetics. I'd say it is fair to say that they could create a body that would be suited for using magic, but they could not create the magic or give that body the ability to use magic. At most it could be a vessel for someone like Voldemort to inhabit which would be a bit like what Voldemort did in the 4th book.

Rowling seems to also hold life to a different standard than science does anyway. I can't imagine Rowling allowing cloning of any sort given the tone of her books on the importance of life and the soul. We aren't even sure Harry's version of humanity is even 100% the same as it is on this planet. He is from a completely different universe.

Even then I doubt the ability to clone so much as his body. Wizard blood should be classed as a magical substance which doesn't get along well with technology in this book especially the more advanced the technology gets.

Just read the new chapter. You got a good flow going, but you should probably fix some of the verb tenses in the Asgard scenes.

Really liked the new chapter, it served as a great denouement to the first segment of the story.

Particularly liked the first scene with Fury's inner monologue - it did a good job highlighting the world changing impact of what the world just saw happen on live TV. I'm eager to see where you take the world-changing angle in future chapters, an uncertain world that doesn't know what's possible and what's impossible any more is fertile ground for all kinds of chaos. Also liked the way you set the rest of the story up by establishing the business of cover stories and secret identities.

I was thoroughly entertained by the scene with Stark. I think you've just about nailed his character and his reactions to magic never cease to amuse. If he thought the pouch was cool, one of those nifty trunks would blow his mind... I'm intrigued by what sort of bizarre monstrosities will result from Stark studying magical items. Creative combinations of technology and magic could result in some truly absurdly overpowered stuff. Looking forward to the inevitable self-repairing zero-effective-weight magically reinforced Iron Man armor with integrated reusable portkey system. :p

My favorite part of the chapter was the bit between Odin and Heimdall. Wizards being an extinct species in the Marvel universe opens up a huge pile of story hooks. It's intriguing that Odin describes the wizarding line as "honored" and that he took the time to personally scour the Earth for any remnants of them whatsoever. I wonder how Asgard is going to react to Harry once they determine he's honorable? I'm also hoping for some serious elaboration about what went down between Asgard, the jotun and the wizards.

I thought the little scene with Natasha was cute. They have an entertaining dynamic.

Anyway! Looking forward to more of this, looks like lots of interesting stuff is going to happen in the next chapter.

You know it wasn't until the last chapter that I realized something. When Harry got his invisiblity cloak back, it occurred to me. How did it work on Banner? Shouldn't it take a wizard to use that? JKR has stated that even if the potions ingredients were mixed by a muggle and no foolish wand waving was needed it wouldn't actually create a potion. This combined with the fact that wands don't work for muggles makes me think that a muggle couldn't use any magical item in the HP universe.

This leads to another point I wanted to make. You should drop the bit about spelling regular plants. There are muggle versions of a lot of magical plants. You could just say the magical plants exist in this universe but muggles can't use them to make potions and the more exotic species of plants don't exist and are needed for the more difficult potions.

That's what I would do at any rate. The last chapter was very good. I like the way it went, but I still don't see Tony keeping that secret identity thing very long. It just doesn't fit his personality at all. He is very flashy.

I look forward to the meeting in the next chapter though.

Just finished reading chapter 14, so I'm a bit behind, but there are some things that struck me that could be improved, or just didn't really make sense to me.

Firstly, was not at all a fan of Harry getting blind-sided by the Hulk. I absolutely hate it when authors do this: They make their character "take damage" for the sole reason of making their character seem not so super-powered, and then the one blow that they eat ends up meaning absolutely nothing down the line. I find it hard to believe that Harry took his eyes off the Hulk when at the time the only two characters present were the Hulk and Stane, and Harry was already well aware that Hulk was a tentative enemy all along.

What purpose was served in Harry getting hit? Did it effect the outcome of the fight? Was Harry at any time really threatened by any of the characters present?

Considering Harry suffered the exact same injury fighting Hulk in the jungle, I really thought this was forced and silly. Why shouldn't Harry be allowed to be a badass? Why beat him over the head with the idiot stick instead?

    Next thing: Transfiguration.

This would clearly have been the easiest way to take out Stane quickly and quietly, which is what I gathered Harry's mission to be. The fact that he didn't even consider it as an option has me worried. If you want to leave the fight as is, I would add a thought process that explains Harry's reluctance (or inability) to use transfiguration in this situation. Simply adding that it's an ability that he doesn't want to risk revealing at the moment for fear of SHIELD or the Army seeing him manipulate matter like that would be acceptable, I think. After all, adding that to Harry's list of abilities would not only be a real head-scratcher but might very well top the list of things Harry can do as the scariest of them all.

Lastly, the Army's presence at the fight had me scratching my head. From what I remember of the Hulk movie the Army did indeed want to capture Banner, but weren't really willing to risk a huge number of civilian lives to do it. The only confrontation I can remember from the movie that the Army instigated was at the college, and at that point they honestly believed that they could subdue him prior to or during the transformation.

Rolling tanks into a weapons manufacturing complex that contracts with the Armed Forces and wrecking the place? I don't think so.

Secondly, how the hell did they get tanks over there so quickly? I don't think they keep many of those parked around LA, ready to roll at a moment's notice. And yes I did catch on that they knew Banner was in the city, but LA is a big place and I'm not sure tanks rolling down the freeway would fly. In the movies the Army had very specialized equipment in place to try to deal with Banner, so at the very least perhaps that should be changed instead of suddenly having a column of tanks show up out of thin air.

Lastly, am I honestly supposed to believe that red-blooded American Tony Stark is going to suddenly start blasting apart the Army? Without knowing what the fuck is going on? I don't buy it.

The whole fight scene seemed to escalate too fast and too far for me to really accept it. Personally I think it would have been more poignant if it only involved Stane, Hulk, Ironman, and Harry. If it was really so important for Harry to have a sort of silly, "you wouldn't like me when I'm angry" talk with Stane, you could have simply had Stane toss Hulk a few warehouses over and let him smash some stuff over there for a bit.

    Just my two cents.

Oh, and I would really strongly caution you against anyone successfully using Harry's DNA in any meaningful way. I don't think it would be a good plot turn.
