If Crouch`s body was hidden under a cloak even though it was dead at that time I think, it should work on anything.

The cloak is an item. The creator needs magic. The user does not. Like how the candy Fred gave to Dudley still worked. Because the creator was a wizard, even though the target was muggle.

I have a question. If wizards existed in this timeline, but are extinct, then are magical beings present as well?

    For example, Dementors?

Depends. Does Marvel have magical creatures? Dementors obviously don't exist, but I dunno if beings like unicorns have shown up in one comic or another.

Maybe the wizards didn't really go extinct. They probably just moved on to "the next great adventure" ;) and took all the dragons and unicorns and what-nots with them.

I hate to be adding to the quantity of off-topic posts in this thread, but I feel like I must butt in here; cloning Force Sensitives in the Star Wars universe is very possible. Thrawn had a cloned Jedi under his employ.

The problem is that cloned Force Sensitives are... unstable. Whether mentally or physically, such clones tend to break down sooner or later.

Hell, prior to the release of TFU2 there was some marketing/promotional material released on their website - as I recall, there were hundreds of clones of Starkiller.

However, the Starkiller you play as is unique in that he was a success, unlike the countless failures that had been created and disposed of earlier on. Whether or not the clone in the Dark Side ending is another success... well, I guess we'll find that out if there's ever a TFU3. Now for something on topic.

Realistically, using Earth science (yes, yes, I know, this is the Marvelverse, or rather the Marvel Movieverse) there really shouldn't be any way of the Army using it, at least not on the timescale this fic is running on ATM. Cloning people, whatever popular culture say, takes a lot of time, and clones don't magically gain the knowledge and experience of the people they were cloned from. It would take years before the clone (if it even had any magical ability!) to first perform accidental magic, and without wand or proper education he would never progress beyond accomplishing such simple magics.

There probably aren't any other ways to use Harry's DNA than to clone people, either - I mean, you could examine it, but you'd have no way of knowing which genes cause Harry's powers, if indeed magic is even granted by genes in this fic - I sincerely doubt it, to be honest. Granted, Roarian might not be educated in how genetics work or how human reproduction works over the long term, but Wizards (or Seidhr) wouldn't be extinct if what gave them their magic was entirely genetic in nature - if it was, muggleborn Wizards and Witches (assuming that the Seidhr are in fact Wizards/Witches rather than something that merely has similar abilities, an assumption I feel safe in making) would pop up all the time, based on how scientists have modeled such things to work. If Wizards existed two thousand years ago, and one of them fucked and impregnated a muggle woman, then that woman's children would carry on the genes necessary for magic, something I feel confident in stating given the existence of halfbloods in canon. Assuming that only a single Wizard did this, which is a rather low-end number, I suppose it's plausible that magic would be genetic.

However, I feel it's safe to assume that hundreds of children over the centuries were spawned by muggle-Wizard interrelations. And, again, due to human reproductionary patterns, this fact would mean that pretty much everyone in modern times would be related to one of these children.

Also, explaining squibs is a bit difficult if the cause is purely genetic - simply because that would require magic to be linked to entirely recessive genes. However, in that case, the vast majority of halfbloods would lack magic altogether.

I suppose you could try to explain magical ability as being inherited, but not by genetic means, but I'm not going to start rambling about that as the possibilities for how such mechanisms would work are almost literally endless.

I didn't think of it that way. Particularly, I didn't think of the body thing. I wouldn't compare the cloak to one of those candies because I would view that as more of a potion or a hex than a magical item meant to be used. I consider magical items to be more like wands or the ring. I always assumed they required magic just to get them to work. I suppose you could make an argument that Crouch's body had magic in it still or that Harry was close enough that the cloak could still function...but there are too many unknowns when it comes to muggle interactions with wizards.

I do question the fact that SHIELD returned the cloak to him though. There is no reason for them to have the cloak to begin with. He wasn't wearing the thing. People watched him fight. Why wasn't the cloak in his pouch? I can't see Harry letting a valuable thing like that laying about or having it out when he didn't even need it.

I think Banner was using it before he lost control.
And I mentioned the candy thing in response to what you said about muggles not being able to create potions. I just wanted to show that even though muggles cannot create potions they can certainly use them. I see no reason for the cloak to not work. I dont expect the wand to work because it needs magic obviously.

But cloaks get their magic from whatever magical creature hair they use to create invisibility cloaks.
I understand that this cloak is special but it makes sense that it wont be too different in how it works.

Well, obviously the Cloak did work, so there's no point in arguing about it.

Harry picked it up. He even makes sure it is is still "properly attached". I see no reason why after the battle and escaping from said battle he would not have put it in his pouch which is much more secure. Not only is it a family relic; it is one of the Deathly Hallows and more than that why would you trust anyone with something that can give people the ability to move around invisibly?

SHIELD would have run a bunch of tests on that sort of technology to say the least. It wouldn't produce any results other than a bunch of damaged tech, but the point remains that is is dumb to leave powerful magical artifacts where just anyone can grab them. He isn't some dumb first year in this story.

I can at least say that cloning's not involved. Now, I figured that there's at least something magical about magical bodies, but that it isn't easily studied, basically like how the tesseract is just way beyond what people really understand in this 'verse. Now the Asgardians might be more knowledgeable but I wouldn't say that their 'magic' is the same thing.

I do know biology, and the Seidhr, as described here, are basically the wizards of this particular universe that were around at the time Asgardians had contact with Earth; there was a war, the very war in which Loki was found, and those allied with the Asgardians went extinct, or at the very least were they beyond even Odin's sight. There's another group that didn't go extinct or ally with the Asgardians, but they're no longer on Earth.

We'll get more into this, and the cause of the extinction of wizarding kind, obviously.

I was honestly fine with Harry being the only wizard in history in this reality.

    The end.

I love how that last scene with the A.I.M. scientists hints towards MODOK, the Super-Adaptoid and Wakanda as three possible subplots for your Harry to get involved with. All three of those could make a story by themselves and be a heck of a lot of fun to read. Would Occlumency help against psionic control? Could an Adaptoid manage to copy Harry's magic? Could the Black Panther's heart-shaped herb be used in a potion?

What I love even more is that you've already shown Asgard taking an interest in Harry, teased finding out what happened to wizards on Marvel Earth and in this thread mentioned getting involved with Hank Pym. You've got so many great subplots to write that you're just throwing out even more plots just as little inside references to help show that the world is bigger than just the movies.

    And it's working beautifully.

I'm getting curious, though, as to how the overarching plot is going to develop. Subplot on subplot is fine -- but even in episodic tales, there is a big picture conflict that the characters must face.

Presumably, AIM will be part of it. They've already been shown on-screen, doing what shadowy organizations do best; plot world domination. Thanos is a thing as well, and Loki's impending assault on Earth.

I'd expect the overall plot to be similar to the movies. The first half - where we are now - is all setup, subplots and origin stories. This is where we learn how Harry and the other Avengers go from being people with powers to being superheroes, while seeing how Harry's interference manages to alter canon events. The second half is where the big bad reveals itself, forcing all these different people to come together, form the Avengers and kick seven shades of shit out of whoever (or whatever) the big bad ends up being.

I don't know anything about the Avengers, besides the movie, so I feel like I'm starting to get a little lost when it comes to the more intricate plot points.

For this reason, I'm not really a fan of the Asguard subplot either. Overall though, I'm loving the HP point of view parts of the story, and I hope they continue in the same vein.

Are these the equivalent of Harry Potter style wizards in this universe? I kind of hope not. It seems like you are intending on making Loki one of this kind as well. At least that is the vibe I'm getting.

I rather liked Harry's uniqueness and I kind of hoped that the Asgardians were just confusing him with anther group of wizards. I mean there are wizards in the Marvel universe. Doctor Strange being a prime example. Though Doctor Strange would make Harry seem a tad under powered in comparison given the amount of power Strange is capable of wielding.

It is my personal opinion that Harry should be unique to this universe. Though that is just a personal preference. I feel like you might end up cornering yourself if you make him a revived version of a lost race. There are just so many ways it could go horribly wrong and divert focus away from the point of the story off into a side plot that has little to do with anything.

I'm in the same boat as RT, in that I have almost zero knowledge of the comics outside of what appears in the movies. I think that Roarian needs to make a decision, and soon, as to whether he's going to focus on the movie-verse or expand it to encompass a good deal more than that.

Frankly, I can see myself losing interest if suddenly all these new villains/characters need to be explained to me. I would view them more as filler arcs than actual story meat. My advice is to stop waffling and decide: Movie-verse or comic-verse. Think about the audience that the story is intended to appeal to.
