After two especially epic, and a few non Batman retailed, movies I have faith that Nolan won't disappoint us.

Nolan films (so far) have been like pizza. Even when they're "bad," they're still pretty good. :awesome

I'm going into the movie expecting a good movie that's a step down from Dark Knight, and I think I'll be able to avoid disappointment that way.

Do we know the approximate time lapse between films?

If I remember correctly, in the comic books Wayne is like 50 when Bane breaks his back. Or maybe he's 50 when he comes back from the broken back. Either way, from the commercials Bale looks pretty old and fragile.

Then you don't remember correctly. It's never stated how old is Bruce, but before New52 most people agreed that he's probably 35-40. When Bane broke his back it was more 30-35.

As for the movies, it was confirmed that it will be 8 years since the last one with Bruce retired and not too healthy after his long time as Batman.

EDIT: 55 years old Bruce is the main character of other classic Batman's story - The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller.

That's it. Always was a fan of Frank Miller's work.

If you want to keep liking him, then avoid just about everything he's written for the last ten years. All-Star Batman and Robin and The Dark Knight Strikes Again are pretty awful.

If you want a definite age for Bruce in this movie, he turned thirty at the end of Batman Begins (the birthday party where he told everyone to get out and Ra's burned his house down). So he should be pushing forty in this one if it's eight years later, giving some leeway for the time between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

The Dark Knight Rises - Behind the Scenes.

This is what I love about Chris - if it can be done without CGI, it will be. Even if normal people will think it couldn't be done without CGI while watching the film. :)

Empire is streaming the entire TDKR soundtrack for free here. I'm not sure how long it'll be there though.

The one thing that worries me from the trailers is what looks to be the climax scene: fighting in broad daylight, on the steps of what appears to be a civic buidling of some kind.

It just looks... bad. The lighting/cinematography almost documentary-like. The combination of that with the batsuit may break immersion - by the harsh light of day, you realise the ridiculousness of a dude dressed up like a bat fighting terrorists.

Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. But it worries me.

I have no idea why you think that looks like the climax scene. I'll bet it's around halfway into the film.

Three more days to the premier, but fans already started a witch-hunt on these critics who didn't give it a favorable review. Actually, they seem to be past a fan phase and in a fanatic phase. Or should I say s batshit insane phase? ;)

Anyway, most reviews say it's very good, if not great, but I expected nothing less from Nolan.

The empire review is pretty much spoiler free. I did read it between my fingers just in case

Also its a fucking film, but the fans seem to be fucking crazy. Like what the actual fuck?

It was the same with Harry Potter. And Twilight. Probably the Hunger Games as well. Here, of course, you've got the fans of Batman and then the film fans who think Nolan is the second coming, so anything slightly negative is going to get pounced on from two camps.

The Hub channel did a version of one of the TDKR trailers using clips from Batman: The Animated Series, as a promo for their BTAS marathon. They also got some the original voice actors from BTAS (namely Kevin Conroy) to read the lines. I thought it was nifty.

    Link.

Goddamn, it's so strange to hear a Batman that doesn't sound like his throat is lined with gravel.

This nigga's never played the Arkham Series. Or watched B:TAS.

Also, nobody really knows what Batman's voice sounds like. We see it on paper and shit, but that's different from transferring to a different medium. Christian Bale just likes to make his throat bleed.

Cracked.com seems to believe that The Dark Knight is meant to be an allegory for the War on Terror and Batman is George Bush, so at least Rush isn't the only random crazy person reading into things this time.
