I'm pretty happy with no pairing in this story tbh. I just can't really see a way for it to fit in currently, without taking away from the plot.

...Did I ask you about the plot to YOUR masterpiece of a Harry Potter/Avengers crossover?

That's right. So shut that shit stained, dick-warmer you call a mouth.

Well... pookas exist, and so do faeries. :nyan:

I can honestly say that cloning never entered my mind, in regards to the army wanting to get its hands on Harry's blood. Using it to alter the formula they gave Blonsky seemed much more likely, and a hell of a lot faster, results-wise, than waiting for a clone to grow.

Yeah, not sure where that came from...

Anyway, to set people's minds at ease: No, the army won't get magic via the Tesseract. That particular device is Asgardian-level tech however, which has some pretty magic-like properties already. If you recall the kind of shenanigans that it was used for in the Cap and Avengers movies, you know what I mean. The Cosmis Cube has a rich history in the comics too.

Also, although I take DLP comments seriously, I tend to stick with the things I intended, and generally I seem to line up with the kind of stuff that DLP cares about.

Definitely what Ross would try to use it for. A.I.M. wants a blood sample too, but it's left open if it's the same one or if they want someone else's... I suppose just keep an eye on what Blonsky is doing. :p

I thought the post prior to that was more out of left field, to be honest. The language was over the top and rather uncalled for, especially from a member who is so new to DLP. (admittedly, I to am new -- but you don't see me swearing at people for disagreeing with me.)

As for your story, I like where you are taking it -- and I trust your writing skills enough to do whatever you decide to do well. At this point in the story, our critiques should be focused on helping you do what you did... better. Not telling or directing you on how to do future work.

I was referring to that one, I was agreeing with Zennith. ;)

Fair enough, but I do admit I like the nerdy debates that inevitably happen, and figuring out which parts of a fic work and which don't is pretty important. That said, I'm not sure why there's this big hullabaloo about the blood thing.

Amusingly, very few people seem to have picked up on the blatant Doctor Strange mention in the last chapter. I guess that doesn't catch the eye as much as Sif's idea of negotiations or Ross being an asshole. :p

While trying to find the Doctor Strange reference (kinda a lost cause, due to the fact that all I know about him is his name and title as Sorcerer Supreme), I noticed this line:

The thing is, is that it is. We know it from Iron Man 2, but more importantly Tony knows it even in IM1. In one scene, just after testing the Mark II and he is dictating the specifications of the Mark III to Jarvis, we see him drinking chlorophyll. He knew from the beginning that palladium in the chest was a BAD IDEA, but he did it anyway. Now, whether he doesn't say that here due to not wanting to spread the problem or alarm anyone or whether he doesn't know is up for grabs, but I thought I would point it out.

Considering neither Harry nor Bruce have much problems with ego, wouldn't 'your (Tony) ego' be more appropriate?

The Jolly Green Giant name was particularly amusing to me due to the fact that one of my friends calls the Hulk the 'Jolly Green Giant's retarded little brother'. Cheers.

He lives in the Sanctum Sanctorum, located in Greenwich Village, NY. That should help. :p

Yes, I am aware of that. Tony's hardly out of time, though, and the topic will come up again.
    well spotted. :p

Wouldn't the JGG be Hulk's retarded brother instead? :p

Death's also in the Marvel universe. She's who Thanos is trying to court via mass destruction and killing and with the infinity gauntlet. :)

I still find it difficult to think of Death as anything other than her Death of the Endless incarnation, but something tells me that's perhaps not what you're going for, here.

It doesn't stop you from being long lived. I thought that story was meant to parallel Flamel's story from the first book. They both could of kept hiding from death but they chose to step out and accept it because they understood that death will happen to everyone, and while you can prolong it be it with the philosopher's stone or the clock eventually you will make the choice to die. It goes back to choices as do most things in the world of Harry Potter.

I don't usually read Harry Potter crossovers and the summary put me off for a while but after giving it a go i found myself pleasantly surprised.

I'm glad there is no pairing as of yet, when people add a pairing the whole story tends to revolve around the pairing and the main story gets left in the background.

Nice way to make Thanos and Harry mortal enemies forever. A love triangle involving a godlike alien, a dimension travelling wizard, and the embodiment of Death would be kind of awesome. I think I might have been convinced to ship Harry/Death.

Also the post before me made me think of Dos Equis.

A sad fact that proves the majority of shit writers are virgins. I always thought that when a pairing is written right, the characters gain more depth. Do not confound the "written right" part with "happily ever after"; even a breakup or death contribute to the characterization, sometimes even more then an "happy couple".

The problem is that when you have Harry's girlfriend killed off or something equally bad, it feels like you are kicking a man when he is down. Harry's whole life has been a bit of a shit fest already. I don't feel like killing off his girlfriend really adds to his character. I mean he has already lost his parents, his godfather, and countless friends.

I agree that happily ever after is a bit silly especially in his first relationship, but there is nothing wrong with happily ever after just so long as you don't end up turning the focal point of the story into the relationship (unless you are writing a Romance). If you keep it on as a side plot it can be used to enhance the overall story and add drama as well as giving Harry a trusted and capable ally.

It really depends on if the author is good enough. I think crying the author is a virgin just because they choose to write this way is a bit dumb. Authors who are married and have kids are just as guilty of this as high school fangirl authors...actually I would say moreso since a lot of the virgins tend to want to write Harry having a go with every girl in Hogwarts.

As for a relationship in this story, I have enough faith that Roarian can pull it off properly without needlessly adding useless drama or any of the other things that many authors tend to do with pairings in their stories. Roarian has produced fairly high quality work thus far so have a bit of faith should he decide to go that route.

Well, I also find that a lot of people attach a -lot- of significance to even a casual date or whatever, as if they're instantly going to marry after something like that.

If I don't think I can pull off anything more than a bit of flirting, then I just won't do it - I think if you can't do it well, perhaps you should avoid writing romance. (Something that certain published authors should keep in mind.)

That said, with people like Tony in the picture, you'll doubtlessly see some background stuff going on eventually. Heck, Bruce really already has a girl, she's just sort of hard to reach right now due to the whole green and hunted by the army thing.

I've always looked at it as a natural progression for a story to take regardless of the talent of the author. It is much more unusual for a man not to be interested in dating than it is to have a relationship. Besides wasn't the whole point of his escape from his reality to try and find some sort of normalcy in his life? He failed, but that doesn't keep him from trying. But I also understand if you don't feel comfortable writing it. Then again that is what DLP is for. If you write something crappy there are people here who will point it out and give advice on how to correct it so you can grow and improve as an author. ;)
