Fucking this. The whole scene made me shake my head and go "Wtf?"
Actually, I didn't see it as self defense at all. Jon had disarmed him, and there's a long moment where he just looks Halfhand in the eye, then runs him through.

Interesting fact - in one interview for Prometheus Charlize Theron admitted her love for the series and said she would like to play anyone in it (probably for reasonable price), so it may happen in the future. Of all the characters I think she would be pretty good Cersei, but I have trouble thinking who could she play that is not casted yet.

I can't say that I'm looking forward to the Martell's involvement, but she would make a good Ellaria Sand, consort to Oberyn the Red Viper
who kills and is killed by Gregor Clegane in Tyrion's trial by combat over the murder of Joffrey at his wedding feast
Even better if they merge that character with Taena Merryweather of Myr, Cersei's confidant during Feast for Crows.

...because Charlize Theron and Lena Heady in bed and baths together is worth the price.

Yeah, and it honestly shouldn't make a difference to the wildlings, they never offered Jon a place with them if he killed Halfhand, and Ygritte knows for a fact that Jon is not a traitor.

Meh, at best they let him be a bit more comfortable since he did kill an enemy of theirs. Which makes the Lord o' Bones retarded because he gave up a valuable asset for some fight night, but hey, what's new?

I found this review to be interesting and amusing to read -- http://tigerbeatdown.com/2011/08/26...e-what-the-r-stands-for-in-george-r-r-martin/

As some of you have heard me say before, I think that the Song of Ice and Fire books are pretty good but not great. This guy, while really only focusing on one aspect of the books (rape/attempted-rape), appears to have not been a fan either.

I wish he'd taken the time to critique a few of the other things about the books but yeah. Interesting read.

Song from fans for George R. R. Martin to make him write faster (or like the wind). Hilarious stuff.

Season 3 new cast members announced! - Linkage.

Not really sure having only just finished books 3 and 4 the other week, but I like the looks of the guy playing Dondarrion, Mackenzie Crook looks how I imagined Orell for some reason though I'm not so sure about him playing the actual part.

Outside of that, my only other real comment is huzzah, finally they bring in the Reeds, Jojen and Meera, about time too. Not too sure why Youtube's asking for Ramsay as I don't remember him being in the books all that often, unless I was completely thinking of the wrong character...

Edit - Facebook says Season 3 premiers March 31st next year.

Look at the name, it should be obvious.
Plus, they got Tobias Menzies, Brutus from Rome, to play Edmure Tully.

Having never watched Rome (Don't kill me) I didn't notice, though I probably should've recognised him given all the advertising... Also reminds me to actually sit down and watch Rome at some point in the near future.

You read that thing from beginning to end? It seemed like a another troll attempt to draw in hits on a trending subject.

As for Tobias Menzes, I liked him in Rome, and he could make an interesting Edmure.

I would give my right arm for more of the Rome cast to show up, like James Purefoy. I don't care if they have to make up a role for him, I want some more slightly drunken awesomeness.

James Purefoy as Oberyn "The Red Viper" Martell. Marc Antony has the perfect amount of swagger for the Oberyn.

Overdone. It's like he read the books, but skimmed them. Or, he did a quick google search and likely watched the TV series, then claimed to have read them.

Never mind the fact that this is High Fantasy, it's actually an allegory for medieval Europe, and people with ethnic names and a different skin tone are automatically being stereotyped. Never mind the fact that Daenarys is being worshiped more because of the dragons than her own actions. Never mind the fact that a lot of the things that happened in the books are considered socially acceptable by the people.

Brienne is the only female knight because she's ugly, apparently. I guess House Mormont's Head of House (whose name escapes me at the moment) using a flail and being allowed to speak at strategy meetings means nothing. I stopped reading at the Storm of Swords segment, so forgive me if he actually does bring them up, but what about the Wildlings? Their women are considered just as capable of fighting as their men are, considering that they have a title for them and everything, and nobody objects to the fact that Ygritte was there when they scaled the Wall. Granted, so was Jon, but that's beside the point and who really cares when this is an article about how rapey ASOIAF is.

I haven't read Tyrion having sex with Sansa yet, as he's apparently waiting for her to welcome him into their bed. Granted, Daenarys did indeed not like sex with Drogo... at first. I think all women can agree that their first time was more uncomfortable than actually enjoyable. She eventually grows to like it and welcome him. Also understandable, considering. She wanted to have sex with him because A) she enjoyed the act and B) her brother was more-or-less making her do it until she did grow to care for Drogo. I wouldn't say she actually loved him, because I don't think a thirteen year old is capable of love on the same level as her twenty year old self, but that's me.

Furthermore, the only character who has actually been shown to have been wanting to have sex with Sansa (that we can feasibly conclude, anyway) is Sandor Clegane, who may or may not be fucked up in the head. Joffrey is a little douche who makes his knights do shit to her to amuse himself.

I enjoy how the guy who wrote the article more or less glossed over the fact that Cersei and Jaime were fucking and that every single one of her kids was Jaime's. Also that apparently Robert slapping Cersei is unfounded and he'd done it before. I don't recall there ever being mention of it in the book, but it's sensational, so they could have put it in the show. But I digress. Apparently this asshat is forgetting that this takes place in a time where things considered wrong now are perfectly acceptable. Shit, he could've slapped Cersei the first time she ran her mouth, but I distinctly recall him telling her to shut the fuck up at least twice before he dd. I'm not saying that's right or wrong, I'm merely addressing weak points in the article.

This guy claims that the idea of sex with a thirteen year old is morally reprehensible. And that's cool, except one would assume that the act of incest (and actually having children as a product thereof) would be far worse on the scale of bad shit you can do. I honestly think that he's applying morals and ideas from 2012 to a time where that shit just does not carry over well.

This goes without mentioning the fact that, as Scrib said, this guy is just stirring shit up because GoT is the current Big Thing. Hell, I remember when people got pissed about the fact that there was code in San Andreas where you could have sex. Granted, it was a part of the code that you couldn't normally access, but people immediately pulled the game because of it. San Andreas was the Big Thing at the moment. I thought we'd gotten over making sex a big deal, and the same with sexism, but apparently not, especially with the reactions about how in Tomb Raider it could be assumed that she'd been threatened with rape, and how in the trailer for Hitman Absolution he kills a bunch of women (who are there to kill him, but dammit, he's killing women and they're wearing skimpy clothing and that's just wrong!)

Not to mention that the way her article is written makes it impossible to tell at times if she's critiquing the characters or the author, but I guess like most people she moves from one to the other when it suits her. It''s so strange to me how the difference between the author's voice and the character's voice is so confusing for so many English majors.

Honestly I think people need to get over themselves. I mean, there are good arguments against the way Martin writes at times, but a lot of the time what I hear is "Too much rape, and because I don't want to simply accept the fact that this makes me uncomfortable and it's subjective and I don't want to examine my own biases, I'm going to raise a stink." I'm sorry, I can't muster any real sympathy in a series where murder, castration, flaying and roasting of other human beings for it's sake have featured. When you focus on that one thing it just makes you seem weird to me.

Then there's the other argument, that basically every female character loses. That is really an argument that only makes sense to me if I look at it like you're simply rooting for your team to win. Because fuck if everyone doesn't suffer and die and have their hopes and dreams crushed underfoot. I don't hear anyone bitching when so many male characters got theirs. Seriously, come out and say it, don't try to frame in in some greater social context.

Also, Cheddar's link is a huge spoiler for the books. Don't click if you only followed the show.

Lena was in Imagine Me & You with Piper Perabo; Charlize made sapphic overtures at Christina Ricci in Monster.

Minor bump, for Season Three casting stuff. Last week in Comic Con they revealed a bunch of minor characters, from the Reeds to Qyburn, and so that's pretty cool. Even cooler is the recentest news of Iwan Rheon - as in Simon from Misfits, as in fuck yeah Iwan Rheon! - has joined the cast. Might be playing Ramsay Bolton, might not, who knows. Either way, gonna be awesome.

Wish they'd just confirm that he will be Ramsay already, so I don't get my hopes up only for them to be dashed. Though, if he is Ramsay, think of the fangirls....for Ramsay. D:
