Yeah, it's that time of year again...

    Animeeshon Fall 2012

moetron.com posted Version 1.0 of their anime chart today:

    Further infos:
fall 2012 visual guide and anime schedule

And of course neregates chart, posted July 29:

This season looks a lot more promising than the last and covers a broad spectrum of interests. There is the usual random stuff:
    Battle Spirits: Sword Eyes
    - Some random fantasy story based on some random card game
    Ixigon Saga DT
    - Some random fantasy story based on some random PC game
    Robotics;Notes
    - Some random scifi story based on some random console game
    Busou Shinki
    - Some random scifi story based on some random action figures
    Chou Soku Henkei Gyrozetter
    - Some random scifi story about cars that transform into robots fighting each other, based on a manga, arcade and card game

We get quite a number of different romantic comedies:
    Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun
    - about a girl and a boy and when the girl suddenly talks to the boy the boy thinks they are friends;
    Suki-tte Ii na yo
    - about a girl and a boy and when the girl accidentally bumps into the boy the boy thinks they are friends;
    Tinn & Mknote
    - about a girl and a boy and when the girl accidentally unignores the boy on irc the boy thinks they... wait, no, I think I just made that one up.

There are a number of sequels, i.e. for
Hidamari Sketch, Seitokai no Ichizon, Hiiro no Kakera, To Love-Ru, ... Bakuman even gets a third season.
I actually look forward to Jormungand's second season, if it counds as second season at all, with just 11 episodes for the first.

    Some Highlights:

    Magi
Magi is an anime based on a fantasy adventure manga based on "1001 Nights" aka "Arabian Nights". The picture looks promising but reading the manga summary I fear it's a kind of fangirlish adaption of the original tales.

    Girls und Panzer
"The story centers around high-school girls who drive tanks that exist in real life, as they compete in teams."

Onii-chan Dakedo Ai Sae Areba Kankeinai yo ne!
Well, a highlight if you are into that kind of... yeah. And a German site has it tagged as 'harem'.

I look forward to the second season of Jormungand, will try Code:Breaker (even despite that I thought the manga was boring)

I already follow the Magi manga so I'll definitely be watching the anime. I'll probably watch Code: Breaker too, even though I stopped bothering with that series a while ago.

The image for Kamisama Kiss feels quite pedophilic.

Also, not interested in anything this season.

Magi: Maybe. Depends on how they go with it.

    Robotics: Sure why not.

    Monsuno: LOL, POKEMON. Nope.

To love-ru: It'll have tits. Nope.

    Zetsuen: Maaaybe. Hopefully not yaoi.

Shin Sekai Yori: Holy fuck is this a dystopia. It looks like it might be dystopia. I will be all over this fucking show if it is.

    ---

Bleh, romantic comedy, slice of life, wacky hijinks, harems. So much. So boring.

Man, why is this a highlight. Everyone but me has bad taste.

The Code Geass thing looks a little interesting. And what's this about Madoka Magica?

Beyond that, I'm only looking forward to the new Rebuild of Evangelion movie.

Going to give Gyrozetter at least a view or two. Zetsuen No Tempest sounds pretty fun and Bones is sort of great. Shin Sekai sounds really cool. Not sure what CG Gaiden is but as long as it's nothing like that Nunally movie we'll be fine I'm sure. Tiger and Bunny movie looks awesome. Really excited for the newest Yamato movie, this being 3 I'm getting ready to watch the first two this week. I'm not sure on what Ozuma meets Fire Bomber Macross FB7 is but... Macross :D Eva 3.0 is going to be amazing.

Madoka is a recap of the series. Obviously Code Geass OVA is a must watch. Been waiting for this for a while - and it should be nothing like Nunnally in Wonderland. It's a side story set in the EU.

    Eva 3.0
and Tiger and Bunny we probably won't see for a while, because we'll need to wait for the BluRay release before fansubs start appearing. I imagine they're both cinema releases?

Few things that could be worth trying for me will be: Code Breaker, Zetsuen no Tempest, Magi and maybe a few of the romantic comedies.

Seitokai no Ichizon season 1 was great. I'm usually not a fan of slice of life anime like that, but I really got into this one. So season 2 will hopefully be good as well. Though given the disappointment of a lot of sequel seasons of various anime (Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka for instance) I shouldn't keep my hopes up.

Two of my friends completely worship Little Busters and say it is easily the best VN they've ever played. If they can't get me to play the VN before the anime comes out, I'll give the anime a go. From the sounds of it, it looks like an adaption might not really capture the complexity of the storyline though.

But all that is overshadowed by the anime I've been waiting 7 years for.

    Motherfucking INITIAL D FIFTH STAGE!

Seriously, that anime changed me from an anime/computer geek, to an anime/car geek with no money. That being said, only 6 episodes...I have to wonder whether they'll actually get up to any of the cool battles that appear in the manga. Particularly because generally each battle goes for 3-4 eps. It'll probably be rushed and poorly done... =(

But yeah, compared to this season, with only one good anime (Kokoro Connect), this next one is looking up a bit.

Rehio, before you dismiss To Love Ru, Darkness is a lot better than the original. True at it's core it's still a harem story, but the sequel has far more depth to its characters and is just vastly superior in general.

Other things I'm looking forward to are Code: Breaker, Seitokai no Ichizon, Initial D, and the Mahou Shoujo Madoka Movies.

EDIT: Er... Yeah. After getting called out on Darkness, I discovered that it actually wasn't the manga I was thinking of at all. Still looking forward to the others though. Except maybe Code: Breaker. I tried to read the manga again, maybe catch up from where I left off, but I got bored with it by chapter 8.

Kamisama Kiss: I'll give it a go, but the art is setting off alarm bells off in my head. I might be pleasantly surprised.

Magi: looks like it might not suck.

Robotics: Notes: I'll give it a chance, but I don't have high hopes for it.

Busou Shinki: I'll give it a go. Looks cute, sounds ever so mildly interesting.

Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun: I'll give it a go. I suspect that Kare-Kano did it better, though.

Sukitte Ii na yo: Hmm . . . maybe. I'll watch an episode at least.

Little Busters: Yeah, I'll give it a go.

Onii-chan dakedo, Ai sae areba, Kankei Nai yo ne: Horray for more incest and needlessly long titles! I'll watch it, and I'll probably enjoy it, and then I'll go cry in a corner in shame.

Shin Sekai yori: Looks good. Hopefully it lives up to how good it sounds.

Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo: Sounds okay.

Yeah, that's all that even caught my eye. And even then, most of it will be strictly on an "at least one episode" chance-basis.

Kamisama Kiss: Will give this a shot. Girl gaining godlike powers seems to be at least interesting in concept.

Magi: The manga is decent enough, so, might give this a shot. Might be one of those instances where the anime is superior to the manga and if that is the case, should be worth a look.

Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun: If I am really bored and finished all the anime I want to watch, might give this a shot. Am not holding my breath though.

Onii-chan dakedo, Ai sae areba, Kankei Nai yo ne: Pretty much the same as Rin on this one.

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai!: Really depends on how this is pulled off. If it is more serious, might like this one.

Girls and Panzer: Might be fun to watch, if only for the silly premise. Giving this only one episode though.

    Shin Sekai Yori:
Sounds really good, going to give this one a shot as well.

Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo: Same as the twin one.

about To Love Ru darkness: as far as the manga is concerned, I personally saw only a transission from ecchi into softcore porn with that one and the adding of one more loli assassin which seemed hardly necessary. Don't really see that much more "depth" in it.

The only show that really catches my eye is Shin Sekai Yori.

Seems like a pretty weak season, but who knows, I might be surprised by some of the shows I initially dismiss. Actually, that happens very often; I often dismiss shows based on their premise or artwork or whatever and then it gets great reviews and then I end up liking it when I give it a try.

I have great hopes for Little Busters. The VN was pretty insane, though I'm not sure how well it can be adapted into an anime due to how it was set up.

Magi is a fucking epic manga. Inspired by the One Thousand and One Arabian Nights, the plot centers around Aladdin, a young boy of mysterious origins said to be a Magi- a messenger of the divine, Ali Baba, an exiled prince of humble origins exiled from his homeland, and Mordiana, a former slave girl from a distant tribe in the uncharted lands with monstrous strength.

It's a fun ride. Spectacular manga, high hopes for the anime.

I'm only looking at the Eva movie, otherwise.

A new JoJo's anime is the only thing that really jumps out as a much watch. Everything else is either meh, or I'm going to have to wait almost a year before I get to see it, so why bother getting psyched?

Really? Out of the vast span of anime, that's what has the pedo vibe? You must be positively scandalized on a regular basis.

Or... obligatory "You Must Be New (to anime) Here.jpg".

    :| No, Meduka, no.

I, too, am looking forward to the next Rebuild movie. I'm, avoiding buying the movies until they're all out and released as whatever super magical ultra platinum limited edition boxed set they will no doubt be released as, because I refuse to buy them twice.

The Tiger & Bunny movie might be cool... and, if not, it will at least look really cool.

Seitokai no Ichizon could be interesting.

Right so seems like we could be having a pretty epic season so far. Most of them have their first episodes out by now, and they all seem to have decent potential:

K - Something about a psychic war between 7 kings, but the first episode just leaves you going "What is going on". I got a hint of a Baccano vibe, which is always a good thing. The graphics are insane, and very experimental. This could be a real highlight if it lives to its potential - else it'd end up just being something living off the gimmick of its unique-ness.

Shinseki Yori - Despite the picture on the MAL page, this anime comes across as a dark mystery, almost horror. The first episode left me very intrigued and curious where it'd go from here. The art style is kinda bizarre (almost shoujo-esque). The blurb on MyAnimeList kinda spoils a lot. =S

Zetsuen no Tempest - Could have the potential to be somewhat fun, or could also end up very average and boring. The first episode comes across fairly cliche - think something like Campione or Shana - except instead of a moe girl, you have a guy doing the info-dumps and explainations to the main character (Uhhhh.....).

Magi - Gotta stop trying to think about this as an adaption of Arabian Nights, cause it's kinda mucking with my head. The characters don't seem as interesting as they could be, but the setting is different to most anime (as you'd expect) so I'll stay optimistic. Pretty childish so far.

    Little Busters
    - Very disappointed given the hype. The humour and characters seemed really forced. Apart from that, seems like a start to a typical Key story, except with the main character being apart of a 'group' instead of being mostly alone initially like they usually are (Kanon, Clannad, Angel Beats, etc). My friends claim they've also done a good job in the adaption in respect to the VN, but also potentially aimed it at fans of the VN.

    Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun
    - Meh, it's a shoujo, exactly what you'd expect - except instead of the main love interest being a bishounen, he's a weird, crazy person. First episode seemed to skip over well, an entire season worth of content so I have no idea where they'll go from here. o_O

Sukitte Ii Na Yo - I seem to have too much spare time this season to consider another stereotypical shoujo. In this one the main love interest *is* a complete bishounen. Main heroine is a bit more interesting to watch - quiet, introspective and a loner.

Also awaiting first episodes of Robotic Notes and Seitokai no Ichizon 2 coming out on the 12th.

Anyone else started watching new stuff yet?

The Magi manga is an incredibly well-put-together fantasy manga. It's unfortunate that the anime showrunners decided to cut out a lot of content to jump-start the core conflict and introduce the three main characters, but it's passable.

Go read the manga. We have mortals mantling the power of deity-like djinni, able to lay waste to entire armies. Yeah. It's awesome.

Hmm . . . Let's see. These are just first impressions, so I might be wildly off.

Chuunibyou . . . Dunno, looks like a chuunibyou sufferer who hasn't quite gotten out of it trying to drag a guy whose finally realized how fucking retarded he was being and quit back into being fucking retarded. I'll give this three episodes because it doesn't immediately offend me.

Kamisama Hajimemashita . . . looks like a poor mans Kamichu! with art that isn't as good and one particular character that requires a Neil deGrasse Tyson image macro response every time he appears on screen until the very end of the first episode. At that point, I decided to give it at least three episodes before I drop it.

Hayate the Combat Butler . . . I didn't watch the first season because I found it boring, so I'm not going to bother jumping in on a sequel. I find most Japanese comedy to be unfunny with the exception of terrible old-man puns (oyaji gyagu).

Jormungand . . . I keep hearing great things about this. That said, the art irks me a lot, and I really want to watch it, but not really. Someone say more nice things about this so I can finally get off my ass and watch it.

Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru: Futari no Elder . . . I really enjoyed the first season, and wish they'd hurry the fuck up and just do this season. Why are the episodes spread so far apart? ;_; Episode three had some nice development.
If this gets at least twelve episodes, will there be other love interests, or will it be Chihaya and Kaoruko's love and relationship against the world?! Either way, I wanna see them kissing more! Damnit!

Girls und Panzer . . . I swear that at this point, the anime fan base in general is just being fucking trolled. Either that or they're doing an experiment to see just how unbelievable they can make it before we call them on their shit and quit buying it (because I know all y'all are good little boys and girls who buy your anime). That said, so long as I can conciously say, "yes, I know, there's no way in hell my suspension of disbelief is going to naturally turn on for this one, but I suppose I need to just turn it on manually," then I can watch it and not dislike the show. Isuzu Hana's character design makes this show infinitely more watchable.

Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo . . . Neked blondie says I need to give this a few more episodes before I give up, but they'd better explain why she acts so mentally fucking retarded. I swear, I'm surprised they didn't have a scene where he had to give her mouth to mouth because she forgot to breath, or one where he had to wipe her ass for her.

    Teekyuu . . . NO. Just NO.

Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun . . . Yet another fuckin' retard MC, but instead of making me roll my eyes, this show's full of DAWWWWWWWWWWWWW. I'll keep watching because I think at the pace this dude's going, they're gonna fuck by the end of the next episode.

Onii-chan Dakedo Ai Sae Areba Kankeinai yo ne . . . another incest themed, overly-long-titled piece of drivel that I'm going to hate myself for watching every episode of and probably fapping to a few of them.

Magi . . . OH MY FUCKING GOD YOU HAVE THE FUCKING BIG DUDE IN THE FLUTE AND THE THING AND THE WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T YOU JUST STRAIGHT UP MURDER THAT FAT FUCK PUNK-ASS-BITCH AND HIS GUARDS, AND THEN ANYONE ELSE IN THE NEXT 100 MILE RADIUS THAT MIGHT HAVE POSSIBLY HAD A GODDAMNED THING TO SAY ABOUT IT OTHER THAN, "GOOD ON YA, MATE!" *HEAD ASSPLODE!*

    Ixion Saga DT . . . Hmm . . . I didn't actually dislike this. I thought I would, but I didn't. I'll be watching it through.

Sukitte Iinayo. . . . "Mei Tachibana has spent her 16 years without a boyfriend . . ." okay, fair enough. I'd be more disturbed if she had a boyfriend for all of those years, but, yeah, fair enough. "or friends." Oh dear. Someone say nice things about this so I can bother to watch it.

Code:Breaker . . . When I read the description, I rolled my eyes and thought immediately of the NDGT image macro. That said, I enjoyed it. I'll be continuing to watch this.

Little Busters! . . . for the massive boner the fandom's been stroking for this anime, it sure is a let-down generic pile of shit. Maybe I just need to watch more, but I don't really want to. None of the characters, none of them, endeered themselves to me or even stood out from all the rest of genericstan to make me want to waste the time to watch anymore of this to see if it gets good. I'll give it one more episode to prove to me that it's worth watching, and this is coming from a guy whose going to watch all of Oniiai.

Shinsekai yori . . . this show is awesome. I like it, and I can't wait for more. FUCK YES!

    Busou Shinki . . . DAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.
    Ball joints? Check.
    Fighting dolls? Check.
    MASUTAA? Check.
Fapfapfapfapfap desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu

To LOVE-Ru Darkness . . . Again, I didn't watch the first season(s?) of this because I found it horrendously boring, and not even the character designs could save it, but holy fuck the doujins. Mmmmmm . . . bring forth more of these pretties . . . so yeah, I won't be watching this either.

BTOOOM! . . . For some reason, this doesn't terribly appeal to me, but I liked it somewhat anyway. I'll keep watching.

K . . . Jesus Christ. This whole thing is one gaint NDGT image macro. Lots of "cool" guys (who aren't) go into a building and beat the fuck out of some old business dudes and speak lots of Engrish the likes of which not even Jesus could forgive. Then a loli tells them they got the wrong guys, so they walk away all "cool" (again, they aren't). If someone could, without lying, tell me that if I watched this to the end, I could watch every one of these "cool" dudes slowly tortured to death, then I would watch it. Out of this season, this is the only one that only gets one episode out of me. No, I'm not going to wait for this crap to be explained. No, I'm not interested in getting to know the characters or seeing the intricate plot unfold beautifully and skillfully as the show progresses. I only want to see a bunch of the characters die slowly and painfully and I want my fucking not-quite-a-half-an-hour back. Fuck this fucking fujoshit up the goat ass.

Zetsuen no Tempest . . . I liked this. I look forward to more.

Hiiro no Kakera . . . someone say a bunch of nice stuff about this so I can watch the first season and enjoy the second. I want to, but something keeps holding me back.
