If it tobi isn´t the character obito then the only reason for that flashback was that kishi was too lazy to progress the story before it´s 600th chapter.

At least the right side of his face kind of looks like his original mask design.

Yeah, but I would say that its extremely likely at this point that it is indeed Obito. I mean sure, its not totally confirmed, but not sure it makes any sense storywise to have a flashback to Obito, reveal his face as Obitos and then in the next chapter go "Just Kidding!". While I would have wished for it to be someone more interesting, denying it after all the evidence starts being silly.

Damn.

 

Nice to see some of the teams of the older generation. Always nice with a more fleshed out history.

 

I thought they were kidding and it wouldn't be...bust just wtf.

And yeah what's with the quality of the chapter? Nothing but a montage with one word? Absolutely un-neccesary. Kishi could just have done the shock in a spread page or two and just continued with the obligatory, everyone going "WTF" chapter...

 

Meh the only way it could be realistically Obito himself is via a BS time/dimension travel theory I really hope its only his body. So I'm gonna hold out for it's the only his body not himself theory.

I'm honestly starting to consider that Kishi reads fanfiction just to make cliché after cliché canon.

Hm. Well, we've got another week to speculate on the matter and try to see which one comes the closest to the truth.

I'll hazard Obito did not truly perish after Kakashi left him there, or at the least he was only brain dead for a while. The real Madara lived long enough to find him.

I'm finding it a bit hard to believe that its Obito based on the fact that he goes from liking Minato to killing him two years later.

Obito's body most likely, and maybe something to do with Orochimaru aswell.

 

I liked that part. Some surprises there like the fact that Gai, Ebisu and Genma were a team.

Also, it was funny to see one of Kakashi's stories as a truth in Obito's case.

Anyway, as I suspected Tobi is "Naruto" who became bad and I think it makes sense from storytelling point of view.

 

Okay, I think at this point we have to go over the timeline again:

As far as I remember Jiraya took Nagato, Konan and Yahiko on BEFORE Minato, right?

Tobi also claimed that he was somehow responsible for Nagato´s rinnegan.

If we grant the truth of that claim we can at least exclude the possibility that Tobi is JUST Obito after turning evil and training to take over the world.

So in that light I will still put my money on some form of posession. He might even be a remnant of the real Madara. I am sure that that would not be impossible for Kishi to pull off.

 

Also, Minato became Hokage much earlier than I thought

 

His face is on the Hokage Monument, but at the same time the Third still wears the Hokage Hat. One of these things is probably a mistake.

 

Maybe all living Hokage get to keep their hats. But, judging by this development they're going to talk and then Obito's going to stop. Madara will be stopped by either Tobi or Sasuke.

Then everyone's going to become friends.

Man it's been a while since I've laughed like that. Considering all the "Tobi= Obito? lol r u a retard?! Kishi is subtler than that", nice trolling Kishimoto.

 

Just noticed the Gai/Genma/Ebisu thing, which is strange because Im sure a while back they flashbacked to Gai/Genma and Shizune as a team, might of just been a filler or something though in the anime, cant remember.

 

Obviously Obito underwent some pretty radical modifications after losing his eye and apparently dying. Minato took off one of his arms but it grew back, and that's not a standard Uchiha technique. He also had a ton of knowledge he shouldn't have had, and has made claims of doing things that he obviously couldn't have done given how that would screw with the timeline. So he's either possessed, or he was found by the real Uchiha Madara, who then trained him up and modified him, creating the Tobi we know. As it seems the real Madara knew of Tobi and Nagato, I think this is likely. Possession is possible, but I think Tobi really is Obito, and was saved by Madara and turned over to his cause. So, Obito pretended to be Madara and made claims to have done things which Madara actually did.

It seems to me that the real Madara will be the end villain (possibly Sasuke, depending how long the manga continues), since almost everything that is going on is a part of his grand plans, and now he's definitely the single strongest ninja in the world, not to mention virtually immortal. Although whatever happens with the Ten-Tails could be decisive and change the course of the story.

Just when you'd think the writing could not possibly get worse, Kishimoto manages to prove us wrong.

Here is the part where I say "it has to be possession," but now I wouldn't put anything past Kishimoto. No way in hell should Minato have gotten the drop on Tobi if he really is Obito though and saw Minato's jutsu in action so many times. Likewise, Tobi's inner monologue doesn't mesh during his fight with Minato if that was the case.

Blah.

Also, did anyone else find it a little strange that every single named Konoha ninja in the whole fucking manga was in the same academy class?
