A friend just sent me this link and from what I can see, this looks pretty damn awesome. It's released for free on the 14th, and just needs the Source SDK thing to run (I believe). Also, if it gets enough upvotes on the link there, it'll be hosted on Steam.

I've been waiting for Black Mesa to be released for years. It's been the Duke Nukem Forever of the mod world. I honestly didn't think we'd ever see it.

This coming release isn't the full game, but it is the first 3/4, and I think that's enough to give the modders a cheer. I'm looking forward to it.

This time next decade, we might even have the full thing. Unless they get distracted when the Source 2 engine is released and decide to remake Half-Life 2 instead...

When I read this thread title I was forcibly reminded of the Cow Boys of Moo Mesa cartoon. I couldn't get it out of my head after not thinking about it for well over a decade.

At first, I was pissed, thinking it was someone trolling - but oh thank God it looks like it's finally in a somewhat release state. I've been waiting since I heard about this back in, what was it, '06 when one of my buddies told me about it? Anyway, time to see if it's too late to request Friday off of work...

It made it through. Black Mesa is one of ten games to make it through the Greenlight process. It should be up on Steam in a few days.

Ya know, I used to know the developers a few years back, when Kal' was in charge of it, and when it was on Leak-Free.

I wonder what happened to Kal...

Just reached the Office Complex chapter, and my expectations of this have been absolutely blown out of the water.

This is just fucking awesome and amazingly well done.

Farewell, Sir Xiph0. We shall remember you as you were rather than the shriveled, pale, and emaciated husk you will become.

    :p

Seriously though those are some awesome games man.

K, played just past inserting the material into the whatsit. Setting Zombies on fire with a flare is awesome, but I want my crowbar, damnit!
