"When two elder brothers from two different worlds are forced to journey together the way they treat their younger siblings is changed forever."

It took me a few chapters to get into this, but once Luke (an OC) met Mario I started to enjoy it.

Basically there are 4 main characters -- Mario, Luigi, Luke, and Miles. Luke and Miles are brothers from the "real" world who are 12 and 6 respectively. Luke ends up in the "game" by accident, but it's played as if the Mario Universe is real in the sense that Mario and Luigi ended up in the Mushroom Kingdom by coming through from the real world (which is the same place that Luke and Miles inhabit).

It took me a bit to get used to the idea of the OCs, but like I said -- it got better once Mario and Luke actually met (around Chapter 10? I can't remember, but skip to there if you get bored early on and see what you think).

There are some slow parts. There are a lot of scenes with villains that I can't seem to get into as much, but that might be partly because I'm not all that up on Mario villains and who is who. The main storyline that keeps my interest is Mario's. Luigi's is alright. The other bits I read but sometimes skim.

Sam Beckett leaps into Rupert Giles a little over a week before the final conflict with Glory.

Quantum Leap / Buffy the Vampire Slayer Crossover. Far better than I expected it to be -- probably a 3/5 actually, and worthy of the Recyling Bin. If you aren't familiar with Quantum Leap though it may not be that much fun for you.

For the uninitiated though, Quantum Leap was a show that aired from 1989-1993. Sam "leaped" into bodies of people in the past, basically possessing them, and "fixed" things in their lives that were going to go wrong. He had help from Al, a hologram, who was really in the future where Sam's body was. The people he "leaped" into would end up in his body in the future.

I don't know if this has been recced here before but the The Fifth Act by Sinnatious is a decent time waster...

It's a FF7 time travel story that has Cloud go back before Zack dies, and then he goes on to try and assasinate Sephiroth. It has some decent fight scenes in it but everyone feels just a bit OOC.

It's complete and of a decent length.

I'll put a 3.5/5 for Fifth act. Decent fight scenes, good character development, and I really liked the fight scenes.

Yeah, that's pretty lame. Naruto went back in time to fix things, I get that. But it's not good when things fix themselves without any intervention on his part. There's no decent reason why Orochimaru would have turned out as anything but a sadistic megalomaniac. Bah.

The romance continues to leave something to be desired. There's a lot more chemistry between Kushina and Naruto than Mikoto and Naruto. :facepalm

Still, a blond little 'Itachi' would be somewhat amusing.

I hope there is no 'Itachi' or 'Sasuke', because that'd be a retard move.

I rather thought that it was clever, even if it was slightly a cop out. Not like Orochimaru was stupid evil as a baby. At some point his standards slipped and he became crazy due to hell, I don't know since I don't follow canon that hard but it was something.

Like whatever that Bleach scientist character is, why not be a crazy scientist for the good guys? Orochimaru still has some morals but he wants power. With the deal he gets power and Konoha gets Orochimaru with morals.

    That would be amazing.

lol, I think it'd be pretty funny. Certainly something Naruto could gloat over for the rest of his days.

Actually, I think it'd be pretty funny if Sasuke went back in time to find Naruto boning his mom.

I think that's the only reason why so many time-travel story have him hooking up with Mikoto.

Maybe it's just conservation of characters; since we only know a few female characters 15 years back in time (and one of them is Narutos mother) - she's the logical choice.
    It's still lazy...

Kay, I want to test the waters here before I put this up for review in the library.

Miserly Old Man, Trickster Fox » by FernandelDeLaFrance reviews
One day, a weary old traveller comes to visit Konoha, intent on resting his bones and keeping his nose out of other people's business. That supposedly simple plan comes crashing down around his ears after he meets a cheerful, whiskered, and defenceless child...

Its a fun little fic that I've been enjoying thus far. The last chapter compelled me to do this. It's a particularly interesting and detailed take on the Uchiha coup attempt. Looks like it is getting its own arc.

Do you mean a) Sasuke goes back for the express purpose of finding Naruto banging his mother or b) Sasuke goes back in time for some other reason and happens to find Naruto already their being a motherfucker?

Becoming John Connor » by Dekardkain
Facing one's fate is the measure of a man. Changing one's fate is the measure of a hero.
    Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles - Fiction Rated: T - English - General - Chapters: 33 - Words: 291,862 - Reviews: 548 - Updated: 9-14-12 - Published: 1-9-10 - - John C./Cameron

I was unable to find this mentioned anywhere else on this site, so I thought I would bring it up here.

The story is decent in my opinion and I have been following it for a couple years now. The author has just started writing the second half of the story again after having been on a break for about a year. The first half of the story deals solely with leading up to Judgement Day. It showcases John growing into a leader as well as a healthy amount of John/Cameron. I don't think it is library worthy since it seems to drag on at times, as well as a few other issues, but despite it all I still find myself looking forward to updates. A word of warning though, the beginning is kind of confusing due to all the original characters thrown in right off the bat. I would give it a 3/5.

I'm on chapter 10 of this and I'm enjoying it thus far, despite having fairly rudimentary knowledge of the Terminator universe. It's not amazing, but definitely good if you're bored and looking for something to read.

I'd have to call this a guilty pleasure, and instead of adventure/drama I would categorise it primarily as a hurt/comfort fic. The purpose of the OC main character is obviously to rescue Naruto from his shitty life and loneliness, after all. Once Naruto ends up at the Dancing Dragon and we're abruptly introduced to a bunch of civilian OCs, I got sick of reading it and gave it up. The plot just wasn't gaining my interest, and kept annoying me with unnecessary divergences. I thought the characterisation of a four-year-old Naruto was decent, but I didn't like the interaction between the Sandaime and the main character at all.

I've been reading this myself, and while I generally agree that this isn't an incredible piece of work, I do have to say that it's better than 2.5. The character development is indeed interesting, and just like in real life sometimes things change quickly.. and sometimes they take time to percolate and brew.

I have to admit I do enjoy the dialogue, often enough it makes me smile, and the overarching theme of a more dangerous and deadly Shinobi world is one that I appreciate greatly. Assassin!Naruto is an excellent protagonist, in my mind.

His conversation with Shino was funny as hell, despite the two going on about Logic This and Logic That.

Personally I find that most of the characters remain true to form, whilst there are important differences based on the fact that important events went differently, they are still easily recognizable. And the changes in them are believable.

3.5/5 with the potential to reach 4/5 should the author go back and do some grammatical editing and some dialogue/internal monologue trimming.

    I am enjoying this currently.
But now I want to read a time travel story in the vein of A Black Comedy with some Young Jiraya+Naruto debauchery.

Meh it isn't awful, but it suffers for the type of story that it is. I admit things might improve, I gave up after four chapters, but it isn't my kind of thing. Although I'm convinced now that if a story has the words fox, kitsune, or anything similar in the title 9 times out of 10 it's probably going to suck.

    I'd give it a 2/5 from what I read.
