Weird, but it's still in my FFn Favorites list, though I bet I hadn't thought about it in years. Sort of disturbing content to really think on, but the actual story isn't gruesome or anything, especially not by DLP standards.

Thanks for finding it. It isn't as great as I remember it, sadly.

I'm looking for a specific Harry/VampOFC fanfic that I read two chapters of a long time ago and then lost track of. Some details:

    - James and Lily are alive; they gave Harry up following Voldemort's attack since they couldn't deal with the situation.
    - Harry's married to the vampire OFC.
    - The story's post-Voldemort and deals with Lily and James' reintroduction into the wizarding world.
    - Lily and James have two daughters.
    - Lily and James aren't bashed, at least not in what I read. They're characterised as having been overwhelmed by the situation.

    Anyone recognise it?

I really don't think that one exists. It always winds up being an everyone-bashing fic and Harry is smarter than Dumbledore. If there is one that's decent I'd be stunned.

Wit of the Raven kicked ass, even though it looks abandoned. One of the best AU's I've read, canon is pretty much scrapped.

Edit: Anyone know a good Harry/Tonks? Don't really care if it's cliched or not, but I've only been able to find three or four with grammar that doesn't make me want to punch a kitten.

    <insert obligatory self-plug here>

Seriously, though outside of SoC (which is okay, I guess), the R-Series (which, at some point, will cause you to punch kittens - for me it was about book 5), and my work (which definitely has some kitten-punching moments for some people), your selection of Harry/Tonks fics are painfully limited. I'm not entirely surprised, but it's still frustrating.

Yeah, but I never stop being hopeful. I enjoyed Thief of Hogwarts, though I don't know if it really counts, and Control, which never could decide if it was going Harry/Tonks or Harry/Bella. Ectomancer is another good one that probably doesn't count.

Haven't read all of your stuff yet, so that gives me something, anyway.

I enjoy fics where Tonks is a close friend or something, I like the character, but most of those suck.

I remember reading one, Harry was in her flat for some reason, something about Death Eaters happened... Possibly the vaguest description I've ever given, but I remember it being decent.

You could take it till book 5? I was kicking adorable puppies at book 3.

Also SoC(If you mean Summer of Change) oldie but goodie. Thief of Hogwarts has a nice Harry/Tonks interaction too.

Grammatically, Respitechristopher's Summer of '96 is readable. It may not be DLP fare though.

Control by Anonymous58 is probably closest to DLP tastes.

Ruskbyte's Flying Without a Broom is a classic.

Jeconais's Real Forms, a bit of a meh one-shot, readable in a pinch.

Personally, I find Summer of Change pretty much unreadable, even when I first read it 4 years ago. There's Silens' 'the night they remembered' which I guess has been mentioned by proxy. There's another, older, 'R' trilogy by Greengecko, which has some pretty cool ideas in it (the whole shadow demon and world jumping things are awesome), but like most stories, has some puppy-punching parts. I've recommended it here in the past, as it is a story most would over look, for valid reasons. It's a well built story, so if you're looking for something that just focuses on the pairing, then it's not for you. If you're just looking for the pairing with very little other substance and soap opera style drama, then Rebel and the Chosen is for you, but it's probably the most bland and boring story ever written.

If SoC was 'updated' to be more 'modern', as well as being given more depth, it would be awesome.

Don't read that. It was written for a LiveJournal story swap, and it's AWFUL. I keep it up because it somehow still accrues views, but otherwise I don't recommend anyone from DLP read it.

Well, there's Joe's An Unfound Door. Only 30k words so far, but I actually like it more than his other stories. It's more toned down and gives me time to take a breath.

Ruskbyte has been inactive for about a year and a half, now. He wrote a semi-decent crossover with Nightmare on Elm Street after a few years hiatus, and then just vanished once again. At least from writing.

It's a shame that he hasn't gone back to his older stories, like FWOAB and Backwards Compatible, since they were pretty unusual.

Unusual is good, these days in HP's twilight.

Another one I miss is Aawtle/Bluminous' fics - Power of Oa, for example, may have been a bit, uh, strange, but it was a good guilty pleasure read. Thief of Hogwarts was just gold.

Also, thought Joe's story was a given. ;)
