Loose leaf tea is higher quality for the price and not really any extra effort to brew, so there's really no excuse for using tea bags as anything but a last resort if you drink a significant amount of tea.

I call bullshit on loose leaf not being extra effort to brew. If you're making a few mugs of tea you can brew the tea in the mug, which is not only way easier but you can cater for differing tastes in strength of the brew. Whereas with loose leaf you need at least a teapot and a sieve extra, and cleaning out the leaves and washing the pot is so much more hassle it's unbelievable.

It takes exactly 10 seconds to wash a dirty teapot. Most modern teapots have a built-in filter that you don't need to replace. You can adjust the strength of the tea by adding more or less water, proportionally.

    This conversation should be dropped.

Seems more interesting than the clusterfuck that was the first story. Of course, to make any sense of it, you'd have to read the first story...

If the first story sucks, Is it really worth reading through that just to get to this one when it's only one chapter long?

The first story is pretty good material for this thread, mostly because it doesn't fit the "DLP story" mold. That and rampant cliches.

This story looks a lot less focused then the first one, so I'm not impressed so far. And the first A.N. was interesting. He kind of misses the point about critical thought if he is filtering entire social sciences through his bias and beliefs.

Of course he misses the point; he's devoutly religious. The logical incoherence doesn't even occur to him.

That said, it has little to do with the story.

He's just using the Christianity stuff to generate more reviews, hence the 150 reviews for 6k words.

I read Hogwarts; Battle School up to the Harry vs. Hermione duel.

Unfortunately, the combat was rather badly written. Given that it's a story about combat, I decided to leave it there.

Doesn't George RR Martin like shit a brick at GoT fanfiction? Or am I thinking of someone else?

I know Orson Scott Card has a huge hard on for denying fanfiction.

There's a much simpler reason for why there are no good HP/ASoIaF fanfics: they combine terribly.

Not only in terms of universe (HP magic in Westeros would be world breaking, even if you limited Harry to post-OotP knowledge), but also tone. ASoIaF is about politics and relationships, not action adventure. HP would just stomp through the world, fix everything to restore justice (perhaps with liberal use of the Imperius curse), and nothing of interest will have occurred.

I think this fanfic makes for an excellent way to pass time. What do you guys think?

When making a rec, it's best to give us the original info on the story. Thusly.

Then a small summary after including why you liked it and why you rec'ed it here in Almost Recommended instead of the Review Board (ie. the faults)

That said... WTF is this crap? It has no redeeming qualities, except as a self-wank for the authors. "Look. Ma! I wrote some wordz! A quarter-million of them in one chapter!"

What astounds me is that the author continued to write two sequels of similar length, all of them just one chapter, after receiving just one review for 250k words of fic. In two years.
