Liked it more than I expected to. The guy's dad is the biggest BAMF in a long time.

Also: FUCK YOU AND YOUR UPPER BODY, GREEN ARROW!

Apart from a few moments of questionable acting, I really enjoyed the first episode. I know virtually nothing about Green Arrow, so I can just enjoy the show without being bothered by differences from the comics.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what went down on that island. Oliver has skills that he could only have developed by fighting other people - not just from the perils of nature.

There are enough sub-plots going on to make things interesting but there's still an obvious main storyline, which I like. I'll definitely keep following this.

Overall, the second episode was a jumble of cliches and I almost decided to give up the series. But the ending was very interesting.

The story of what happen in the island might be much more interesting than what's going on in the city. As I have not read the comics, I have no idea what to expect. Looking forward to finding out.

The only thing I can remember from the second episode was that that Green Arrow should have had like at least 20 bullets hit him during his attack. You had gunman 10 feet away with machine guns not hitting anything. Maybe it was just the way it was shot, but it looks like the gunman were aiming right at him and he was moving along just fine.

It's almost always like that in these kinds of action scenes, in reality there is no way a normal guy can put down several guys with guns, especially not in an open space, no matter what his skill might be. but it's a comic based tv show so it's not surprising.

Oh I know, but it seemed worse than the normal couple of bullets that should have hit. It almost seemed like he was in the direct line of sight of at least one gun during the whole fight.

For a guy using a long range weapon and having great aim, he seems to have a penchant for going up close and personal.

This is like saying because Batman uses Batarangs he shouldn't ever fist-fight anyone.

I don't think that comparison works. Batman's main mode of attack isn't ranged, its up close and personal. After he gets the drop on you from the shadows that is. Batman could make do without Batarangs. Arrow cannot make due without his bow. At least not nearly to the level he could with it.

That said, just like Batman uses the occasional ranged device to supplement his main mode of ass-kicking, I like seeing Green Arrow also beat the shit out of guys up close. It is inevitable he is going to have to fight like that.

Batman and Arrow aren't really of the same mould. Batman works as a shadow or myth. This arrow is more like a thug who directly confronts his adversery. Batman's mere presence is his biggest weapon, but that's not the case for Arrow. He kinda has to get upclose and personal if he intends to be taken seriously. Because as of now, nobody would be scared of a rouge arrow fired from a faceless entity.

I like this show but in the end of the day this show has the same pattern many average shows have - the bad guy per episode pattern. The flashbacks are awesome though, and his parkour skills are nice I guess.

Killing Constantine Drakon in the first episode was fine, but I'm a bit irked that it's only the third episode and Queen has already taken down Deadshot AND Deathstroke (assumed), two of the most revered physical-based supervillains in the DC universe.

If he starts knocking off the greats one after another I'm going to be severely disappointed.

Unrelated... was the triad chick from the second episode supposed to be China White?

As someone who hasn't read the comics, who gives a shit? None of the villains so far seemed impressive enough to keep around...
In fact, I quite like this new baddie every episode and the over arching plot with his mother somehow involved.

Because their badassery is being dumbed down. Drakon could catch Queen's arrows with his bare hands, and Deadshot is the best marksman in the world.

If Deathstroke went out like a bitch too then this show can go fuck itself. He's legitimately one of the greatest supervillains of all time, and is Green Arrow's strongest non-superpowered enemy (in terms of both genius and physical ability).

I don't think Deathstroke has shown up yet, and I'm almost positive that
    Deadshot faked his death there.

I don't consider the mask to be a sign of death, supervillains are notorious for faking their deaths after all.
I honestly thought that for being the assassin the never misses, DeadShot was surprisingly shoddy from up close, a little too human rather than the mythical assassin. As for the faking bit in this case, I don't think it's all to likely, that arrow was buried probably about five inches into the lens, by all rights it hit his brain.

So honestly is this show any good? Conceptually I think it sounds awesome but I can't tell if it's going to play out on tv as such.
