Episode was pretty good, though it being quite a bit shorter than the last two was a mild disappointment. The song from this episode was catchy enough to lodge itself into my brain though.

Last thing I heard about the new season is something about crystal ponies. Which sounds... interesting?

 

Well, Cadance's cutie mark is a crystal heart and Chrysalis sent them to the Crystal Catacombs so... maybe some more information about those.

So this thing, Welcome to Ponyville VN, is fucking amazing. So far only act 1 is out, but I just finished my first playthrough. My new favorite thing.

The background music is perfect. Fits in with the scenes amazingly well and just sounds good.

The graphics are the same style as the show (though most images were ripped directly from it).

It contains a lot of shoutouts to the fandom, including an obsessive fan of Trixie's who runs Equestria's finest newspaper "The Equestria Daily".

Of course, not all is good. If I lived in Ponyville I'd invest in a doorbell, because everypony takes five minutes to knock on your door, the voices were off for a lot of characters, most jarringly Applejack and Spike, and several of them echoed. Though some of the voices were spectacular; Granny Smith in particular was :awesome.

Supposedly, the replayability is great too. I'll know more about that when I make my second file which will be sometime later tonight.

 

Oh man, the voices are kinda iffy sometimes. Interesting stuff, though.

I'm pretty sure there's like two other MLP VNs in progress at the moment. Damn, this fandom works hard.

 

It actually very fun. Music is great, laughed a few times and it is actually very engaging with the nightmares and such. Voice acting...isn't bad, per se, the voices are just different from what we are used to but definitely still good for what it is. It is a lot of fun and I really enjoyed playing it. Have to say, after playing Fate Stay Night, I thought Visual Novels are not really my thing but I really liked this one.

Hope to see act 2 soon.

An eight-minute teaser for the season premiere is up. A portion of it is that Twilight song we had already seen a while back. More important, I think, is the info they give on what that Crystal Empire they mentioned before is.

 

So, the premier is over. I confess myself ... unimpressed.

The villain was nicely ominous, but way too underdeveloped. He's evil because he's evil, and his motive is that he's evil. Not exactly impressing me, here.

Best part of the episode has to be the very intriguing hints that Celestia has some kind of big plan for Twilight and that her education is going to go up to "the next stage." There's definitely some interesting potential there.

Also a bit nice to see that Cadance and Shining Armor aren't just going to be completely forgotten one-shot characters.

Still, the weak villain really dragged the episode down.
