I can't watch it for two weeks.

Imagine how I feel, when there's a bunch of theaters super close to my university I could watch it at...

*groan* I went and watched that teaser. Why do I torture myself like this. I'm gonna spend the next few weeks agonizing over the fact I can't watch it now...

The cinematography, art quality and action sequences are seriously on a whole new level to most anime. The music, the feel, gahhhh, need Eva now!

Now you're just rubbing the salt into our eyes...

I have a mate who's in Japan too atm. Lucky bastard.

Yeah, see. It's the difference between knowing you can't have something, and being teased with it endlessly... just out of reach. Not having it sucks, but this is agony.

Uh, did I watch something else from you all? I watched it and nothing of value happened.

Two minutes of silly looking rockets, three minutes of trying to capture the box, two minutes of random angel appeared.

Like, without watching the movie, if this clip was removed from the movie, I can't see the movie being ANY different.

Off the top of my head?

We can infer that Shinji's God-ified Unit-01 (With Shinji and Rei inside) are inside the box, which has an Angel-like enemy guarding it, and from the ending bit there, they're undergoing a few changes. The laser-eyes kinda give that away.

We can infer that NERV is operating without official sanction from the UN, or at least is launching this operation against authorization (Asuka confirms that she forcibly takes the box in the Japanese script, no idea about the subs since I turned those fuckers off).

Shinji and Unit 01 are being held outside the Earth's atmosphere, which may become important. Smells like a quarantining effort, but hey. Speculation.

Given that the Angel (all we know is that it had a Blue pattern, which doesn't necessarily mean that it is an Angel) was wrapped around/in the box and that NERV had to steal it from its current owners, well. That's interesting.

There's probably more that I can think of.

I suppose my issue is once again that I am a hater. I know one can infer and understand all of that but what I mean is more of what makes the movie series better. That is what is missing.

....I'm not sure about better, but the animation in that sequence was fucking amazing. Plus, Eva's in space. I repeat, Evas in space. That is pretty awesome I think in-of-itself. Definitely cannot wait to see this.

Brings a whole new meaning to the term ExtraVehicular Activity, don't it.

    Get it. Get it!?

You could say that about just about every action scene in any movie where someone doesn't die.

I'm sorry, but what part of this trailer has any weight? Yes, it was a very pretty fight scene filled to the brim with gratuitous shots of Asuka in her jumpsuit. And it was in space.

What bugs me here is how well this is being received. It is pure fanwank chock full of emotion power and pretty lights. If you like that kind of thing great, but it is what it is.

In the original the fight scenes were primal. The pain those kids went through was abhorrent. The angel fights all had weight. I'm sorry, but I'm not seeing any weight in this scene.

But hey, maybe the movie will do something interesting. Maybe it won't fall into the pattern of every anime ever and won't give a happy ending just because the main characters want it hard enough.

Every anime? You don't really watch them that much, do you? And even then, this is Gainax we are talking about. Happy endings are like a taboo for them.

EDIT: Had a nice long defense then realized something. You're just hating to hate. So yeah.

On another note...anyone else wonder what is up with Asuka's eye? I saw it starting to glow if I'm not mistaken.

I can assure you that this idea is one of the most self defeating thought processes a fan can have. In no manner did Fishy Justice troll you or declare himself to be a blind hater. While it can be understandable if you ignored me, you just closed your eyes to criticism and thought his entire opinion was worthless since you don't agree. Dumb.

Supposingly it had to do with what happened to her in the last movie - the Angel that infected EVA-03 left something behind.
Apparently it become more important later on, at the climax of the movie.

Actually good points and in my defense I did have counter-points, but I realized it wasn't going to do any good. Both of us have informed opinions and that probably won't change since this is the third movie. That said, this being the third movie, lends a lot of weight as what to expect from this one. What Lutris inferred above.

Also, since I already defended the movie above with you I felt defending it more with another poster would be redundant. I probably shouldn't have posted that line at all, but in the way he worded it just rubbed me the wrong way.

But since we're here, you're negative opinion was based on this being a preview of a scene where we know little about, so assuming it was removed from the movie would have no impact....assuming this without watching the movie is a dumb. Dunno about you but retrieving a main character and their mech from orbit seems it would be pretty pivotal to the plot.

As to his, he's comparing this to the anime, but these are two different beasts. This isn't the anime. That's a difference of opinion. As to his fanwank, it seems he's upset about all the shots of Asuka up close in her uniform. If they wanted to make this fanwank they probably would have kept her in her other plugsuit from the last movie. That was fan-service.

To the pretty lights and nice animation? The anime had no budget and it showed. Now they have one and I'm damn glad of it. It looks great. That appeals to me and I don't see why it wouldn't appeal to others. Difference of opinion on that. I guess he's just longing for more substance than what was showed, but I get the feeling he is biased already against the movies.

    Anyway........still pumped here!

Also read a couple of spoilers. One thing that irked me was

Not sure if this is massively spoiler-worthy, but it looks like Rebuild 3.0 has almost nothing to do with the teasers shown at the end of Rebuild 2.0. Or so the spoilers suggest.

Yes, it seems so. But I also heard a theory that these teasers are showing scenes that happened between 2.0 and 3.0. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the truth.
