That's Red's map. It even says "Kanto according to Red" in the bottom right corner. Also, can you seriously find mew in Lavender?

I think there's a glitch you can exploit to catch Mew that involves Lavender Town, but I never tried it.

Jesus Christ that Bulbasaur looks awesome. Almost makes me sad that I've never picked him as a starter.

 

He was the best starter.

Basically you had to get into a few fights with certain pokemon but use fly before the fight officially started(there is a tiny window you can do this in). When you do the right combination the next wild pokemon you fight will be Mew. It has to do with putting the right bits of information (i.e. the right 8 numbers) from the pokemon you fight and then fly away from stats which get pushed over to the bits of information which decide the next pokemon you will fight.

 

First time I ever played Pokemon I chose that little green turd. I still remember taking down Geodude with a tackle at 3hp, levelling up and learning vine whip just in time for Onix. Being five years old I thought rocks > vines, imagine my surprise when it one shot the fucker.

Yeah, the first two gyms are easier. For losers and cootie-secreting girls. Charmander is man-mode for Pokemon, that's why his name has MAN in it.
