Thanks for the suggestions, sadly I'm already familiar with all of them except for Sacrifices. I don't mind slash but I am opposed to pairings in general since from my experience they tend to be suffused with heavy-handed angst. Characterizing and crafting emotions with all the subtlety of a snuff film.

I'll just have to figure out a way to blackmail Taure into writing more Lords of Magic. Or be content with less daring tales.

 

I'm looking for a fanfiction that, for some odd reason I can't seem to find. Harry and Draco are twins. Voldemort marked each of his followers first born sons (for a ritual, as found out later), and Harry was first born but since Draco was so much stronger, Lucius lied and said Harry was second born. Harry grew up the second, less important child, but one day Voldemort came to the manner and Harry's all like "Don't go kill Longbottom!" and Voldy's like "haha silly child." Also, their magic is compatible, possibly because they're soul mates, but I can't remember exactly. They just smell good to each other. Years later, Harry is a seer and gets a seer mark with Zabini's mother's help, but wants to be an unfeeling necromancer(?) like Regulus Black, which interferes with his seer training. Also, LV doesn't like that (LV/HP slash).

I thought it was by Epic Solemnity's second account, but I couldn't remember the name of the story or author's pen name.

EDIT: Forgot this site was anti-slash so definitely not here, but it is an extremely popular dark!harry and I'm sure someone here has either read it or come across the summary of it in their fanfiction searches.

I don't think Sanderson has a big enough following yet for good fics.

 

For the record, I was planning on updating and finishing it before this Christmas... with a pretty awesome ending, if I may say so myself.

Sanderson's world and magic system alone should have at least spawned a decent amount of OC Mary Sue fics. But those don't even seem to exist. I had hoped that I was just looking in the wrong places.

 

The 2013 video game should draw in some potential writers. Sanderson mentioned somewhere that Little Orbit hired some developers who worked on the Fall Out series and Baldur's Gate, so it's probably going to be amazing. If they market it well, expect the tiny fandom to explode.

One of my pet peeves has to do with the way hostage situations are handled. Far too often does the good guy surrender his weapons even though it's abundantly clear that the bad guy cannot be trusted not to kill both the hostage and the good guy afterwards. Usually a deus ex machina saves the day...

... but I once read a fic in which Voldemort had taken a hostage and summarily demanded that Dumbledore would resign his wand, only for Dumbledore to reply something like: "Unfortunately, one does not reach a position like mine without having to make difficult decisions at times, so I cannot do that."

Anyone knows which fic I mean? I would like to reread this scene.

 

Some of Sanderson's work is getting a video game? I'm guessing Mistborn, since it's his most recognizable piece of work and it already has a RPG, but this is the first I've heard about it. I think that most writers are going to be drawn in as he progresses through the Stormlight Archives, though.
