^This is one of GB's better works. It's short, but really well written and really brings the terror and horror of Slenderman to life. Plus its Shinji/Misato, which is always a plus. Rei was awesomely creepy as always, Gendo was a bastard and making plans on assumptions that we as readers can see are Entirely Wrong and Will Backfire Horribly.

And a throwaway bit of trivia,
"The Evas are the only thing that scare Slenderman" << Paraphrased
^Shows without telling that the Evas are also abominations in a way.

Cons: The pairing developed a little too rapidly, and seemed a bit too rushed in the last chapter. Misato's thought patterns, especially about Shinji, focus too much on whatever psychological damage they have. And the last chapter sort of robbed the impact from the buildup at the end of chapter 5. Also, the NGE portion was pretty background, but that is entirely forgivable.

However, the whole thing is still a great read, and if the pairing is a bit unrealistic, well, considering the setting and the stress the two were under, it still makes itself believable.

I think I might post this in the Other Fandom For Review.

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised. I especially liked the portrayal of Gendo, Gabriel really captured him as a bastard, but a rational one.

I'm almost a little sad that it's over, but it was definitely a short, satisfying read.

    Edit: Stumbled across this today;

Miracle As long as his body can grasp his sword he refuses to fade away. The title of struggler defines his existance. It is time for the black swordsman to enter another war. A war between Masters and Servants. A war for the holy grail.Crossover - Berserk & Fate/stay night - Rated: T - English - Drama/Supernatural - Chapters: 10 - Words: 25,836 - Reviews: 54 - Updated: 9-23-09 - Published: 4-5-08 - Complete

Nothing particularly great, a fairly standard if short hero-from-a-different-cannon gets summoned, but being a fan of Berserk it was interesting to see Guts matched up against some of the 5th Grail war Heroes. The writing is pretty solid too, and clocking in around 25k words it doesn't ware out its welcome.

Amestris AD, is, from a subjective perspective, an OC-Filled Sci-Fi/Dystopia that focuses on Edward's adventures in this future.

I haven't read it in a while, but I remember it being fairly good; despite Ed's utter lack of Alchemy for quite sometime. For some reason, he just... doesn't use it.

I disagree, this is a great fic. Really plays up the shock and awe of heroic - and anti-heroic - legends and their power. All the Heroic Spirits actually feel larger than life. And of course, then you throw Guts in there. 4/5, if not more.

I don't think I loved Miracle as much as you guys did, but then I'm also not a fan of that writing style (I just struggle to keep track of what's happening and who's who since the author hates using names, instead just referring to "He" and "Her" the whole time).

I honestly didn't really see how it would be considered library material. I do agree with Lamora that it really played up the epicness of each hero (What Fate Zero did well, but what Fate Stay Night kinda failed at), but apart from that it was rather dull from a plot point of view and that's about all it had.

Still, having Gatts summoned in the war was always an idea I thought would be cool, so I did enjoy it.

I also read Don't Look. Holy fuck, bad idea to read that just before bed! Terrifying at times. But brilliant.

I'm tempted to say that is library material. Well written, original and scary. I thought the Misato/Shinji relationship felt a bit contrived in the last chapter as well, until I read the last scene - and then it really made sense.

Them in bed together, awake and well aware that the Slenderman is looming in the room with them. With that kind of mindfuckery hanging over your head, age differences in relationships don't seem to really rank highly do they?

Miracle definitely has it's flaws. It's prose is weak in certain places and it does wank Guts a tad too much on occasion. Still, I enjoy the awed tone of the narration as well as the fairytale tone of the story, which still pays respect to the visual novel sort of writing which birthed it.

    It's Library worthy. 4/5.

    Mass Effect: Clash of Civilizations
Honestly, I will be putting this up for review once it has more story completed.

It is another Halo/Mass Effect Crossover and it is quite great so far. The basic plot is the ME universe finds a new Relay that ends up going to one of the glassed outposts of the Halo Universe and one of the scouting human fleets find them. This is before ME1 and some time after every Halo game. While my summary is stupid as can be, it is refreshing as it keeps the power levels between the two universes back to the original amount so it stops breaking one of my most hated things authors tend to do. Balance the power of each Universe so much that all conflict is lost. Considering he did not do such a thing, this allows for some more interesting outcomes than repeating the god damn ME plot again.

However this is still in a relatively infancy as currently the plot is still in the meet and greet stages.

As far as sci fi 'meet and greet' sequences can go, this is one of the better ones so far.

The communication barrier is one a lot of other universes just skimp out on by having some ancient language in common (Eg, Ancient Greek in BSG crossovers) or having some fancy AI system to do the translations. I thought this was very interesting, with both parties just kinda floating in orbit and observing each other for a while - unable to do much more.

Looking forward to see where this will go. I hope it doesn't turn into "Let's fix each other's problems" which often gets boring and silly. The whole "Let's share stuff about each others culture" seems to be working well so far.

On the topic of Halo/ME crossovers, The Last Spartan by DinoJake is pretty good. Basically, Master Chief is discovered by the Systems Alliance in the future long after the Halo wars and he's appointed as a Spectre and takes the place of Shepard,. The author does a great job fusing the two worlds in a very believable manner. You don't really need any prior knowledge.Master Chief is a bit OOC and Cortana can be a bit annoying at time, but overall it's pretty funny and a nice time sink.

The only thing I have to say to that recommendation is what I already said.

That line was me thinking about The Last Spartan.

The Stone Gryphon series is an excellent Narnia fanfic that give us an idea what an bunch of adults trapped in their children form is capable off.

The author is able to capture the feeling of what life in WW2 Britain was like, and the writing is pretty decent. If you enjoy reading about political intrigue, military strategies, biology and Chronicles of Narnia, you will enjoy this story.

A nerd has reincarnated as a Zerg Larva... and now he has been dropped into the Warhammer 40K. There is no time for peace. No Respite. No forgiveness. There is only WAR and the Swarm!

Not at all library worthy but it's got some pretty good worldbuilding attributes and fight scenes, even if the author seems like he is pulling random upgrades for the Zerg out of his ass. Found it to be an alright waste of time.

I second the Stone Gryphon series... though it's still not clear why that's the series title.

rthstewart has set up a fairly complex and enchanting alternate universe to Chronicles of Narnia canon where the Pevensies go home and live adventurous, full, relatively happy lives. The first story sets the Pevensies up trying to get on with their lives, with Peter in particular unsettled by his position as a bored, frustrated student under Professor Kirke. Then the author starts introducing OCs. The OCs are fantastic, quirky characters who are completely befuddled as they meet the Pevensie siblings one by one.

The prevailing elements that make this an alternate universe are the uses the Pevensies make of their experiences as Kings and Queens of Narnia. Peter is a tactician, strategist, leader of men who does not want to be in academia in the least, and only remains outside of the military for the duration of the first story out of respect for his parents. Susan and Edmund, by contrast, dealt with the heavy handed court politics and foreign intrigue that escaped Peter and Lucy's attention. In the second story in the Stone Gryphon, Susan chronicles her experiences in Washington DC to Edmund in a cipher using Narnian concepts to relay intelligence to Edmund while she plants herself in the heart of a spy operation. (The second story I would give a 5/5 without hesitation.)

During the third story (WIP), the Pevensies start to scatter to the four winds to do their part(s) for the war effort. Peter, if I remember correctly, finally joins the RAF (I could be wrong), Susan studies all manners of French to become Mrs. Caspian as soon as she is allowed to go abroad, and Edmund plants himself as an up and coming gifted linguist and cryptographer. Lucy, being unable to get away with most anything because she is very small, sets herself up as a political and religious activist.

And then there's Aslan, who's always around the corner.

Yes, they're really very good. It has a wonderful tone, and solid pacing. I think they're certainly better than almost recommendable; a better Narnia fanfiction I have never read.

    New Story from Silver Queen,

    Title: Reincarnation Roulette
    Category: Naruto
    Words: 5,301
    Genre(s): General
    Rating: Rated: K+
Summary: Sometimes you get lucky. Sometimes you don't.

    http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8774090/1/

From the author of Dreaming of Sunshine, we are presented with another competently executed self-insert (rare to find). This one is a one-shot: grimdark, nasty, worthy of a read. I consider it borderline Library-worthy.

Reincarnation Roulette is library worthy IMO.

It takes a very unique perspective on self-insertion into a universe like Naruto. It brings the clash of culture from someone coming modern New Zealand into a militaristic ninja village coming out of a war.

The only control Meimu ends up getting over her own life is by being cold and ruthless. The attempts she makes at trying to right the future ends up in failure. The ending was good too.

I also like the way its written in just short snippets. It ends up being very effective.

No... imo, not even in almost recommended.

I mean I think this is the fic where somehow he manages to infest like 2-3 other people. And its so obvious the chick is going to be the love interest.

    Just no.

The only good thing to be said is that its not full of glaring spelling and grammar mistakes.
