Here are my some of my top choices, in no particular order:

Casablanca - funny, clever, and damn good.
Airplane - even now with dated humor, it is still the litmus test of comedy
Schindler's List - horrifying, sorrowful, and absolutely brilliant
The Incredibles - probably one the best animated movies ever
Groundhog Day - presents psychological and philosophical questions with the only man who could pull it off
American History X - brilliant acting and a haunting look into modern racism
The Matrix - before they screwed it up, a vision of collective imagination never seen before at such a scale
Addams Family - this movie will always make me laugh, no matter how many times I've seen it
A Few Good Men - proof that Tom Cruise had talent before he went crazy

    But the worst?
Tough call, but I'd have to say (of the ones I've actually seen):
    3 Ninjas - Awesomely bad
    Surf Ninjas - Awesomely bad
From Justin to Kelly - okay, this was only on in the background, but it was horrific
Kazaam - apparently Shaq actually can cause cancer in lab rats
Police Academy (any of them) - only the sounds of Michael Winslow kept them awesomely bad instead of just bad
Date Movie - I decided to download a terrible version just to see for myself; and I was sickened beyond belief
The Avengers - this was one of the most boring movies of all time
Batman & Robin - this movie was so bad, when we saw it, the projector actually broke down

1-Trainspotting: the best movie I've ever seen; the life of a junkie in the 90's

2-Star Wars: the original Trilogy was really good, the new ones are crap (especially because they ruined the best villain ever, by having him played by that asswipe Hayden something)

3-Lord of the Rings: best fantasy movies ever made

4-Kill Bill 1&2 (and everything QT does)

5-Monty Python movies: love them or hate them; if you love them, you'll laugh to tears.

    Hate

1-Titanic: I got dragged to see this piece of shit, the high point of those wasted 3 something hours was when dicaprio snuffed it.

2-Teen comedies (American Pies, Scary Movies, and other crap)

3-The adventures of Iron Pussy: don't even ask:eek:

4-Matrix 2&3: liked the 1st, the others were awful

    5-Harry Potter movies

    Good:

    Lord of the rings:
One of the best fantasy films, I just watched the directors cut of all three yesterday.
    The Matrix 1:
Excellent film, they messed up 2&3 though...
    Star Wars:
The original star wars, though the new ones are not that bad either..
    Spiderman:
Definitely worth a watch if you have not seen already...
    Gladiator:
    I watch this every Christmas..

    Bad:

    Disney:
Any kind of film made by disney, just cant stand, just switch around the character names and you have the same plot over and over again.
    Original superman:
Terrible film, horrible effects and acting. So fake, when he is flying, or at the start with the train...
    The sound of music:
    Ill say no more.....
    Teen Comedy:
Lame jokes, pointless nudity, same plot over and over again.
    X-men 2:
Just a bad film, wasnt half as good as x-men 1.

    THE GOOD

-Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness: I love movies so cheesy they're good.

-Boondock Saints: It's one of the few movies I've actually watched with the commentary on and enjoyed. It's also my friends' and my mascot movie. We all own the DVD.

-Sin City: I could give a shit whether or not Tarantino touched this, I just like watching it over and over to find little hidden funny bits. (i.e. the midget gangster air humping at Alexis Beddel). Plus Marv cracks me up.

-The Labyrinth: Okay, so David Bowie in too-tight pants was awkward at first, but I love muppets in all forms.

-The Pink Panther Strikes Back: Peter Sellers is one of the best comedic actors ever. Strikes Back is definetly my favorite of an excellent series. (I only refer to the first three movies when talking about the Pink Panther series. After that they went downhill).

    -Many more besides.

    THE BAD

-Sorority Boys: God damn, I can't believe this movie. Maybe I didn't get the joke.

-Waterworld: All I could think of the whole time was, "Where the hell'd they get all the bullets from?" This one was kind of a given anyway though.

-I can't think of anymore offhand.

How can you not like “The sound of music”? Do you know how many times I have had to watch it with my grandma, and she always cries.

Your other choices are OK, but this one is crap.

  8. The Morrigu

    Hm.....

Mine in no particular order would be...

    Likes:
Batman Begins: Really good film, had more story to it than the usual good-beats-evil kind of thing.
Pride and Prejudice: I mean the 6 hour long one, not the one with Kiera Knightley in. The 1995 version with Colin Firth and Jennifer Eyle (sp?)
The Lion King: Classic!! Mufasa!! :( Brilliant film though.
Shawshank Redemption: About prision life in the early 1900s or something. Really good and interesting! Morgan Freeman is a good actor.
Man on Fire: The only film where I can recall crying in. Denzel Washington being an uber bodyguard going on a killing rampage when his charge has been captured. Beware!

    Hates:
Da Vinci Code: They killed the book. Enough said.
Lion King Sequels: WHY? Ruining a good film! Especially the third one.
Monty Python: I just find it pointless and NOT funny.
Scary Movie (s): Same as above
Matrix: Anticlimatic and the worst ending in the world. I watched the first two, and had to put up with THAT ending to the third. -_- Really bad....

    Good:
Star Wars (both trilogies. I never understand the problems people have with the new ones).
Pride and Prejudice (The new one. Yes, with Kiera Knightley).
    Anything Monty Python
Coach Carter (Don't ask me why. I don't know why I liked it).
Lord of the Rings. The third one was the best, although the first was the truest to the books.

    Bad:
The Phantom of the Opera (Destroyed a fantastic musical. At least when they're singing their lips should be moving.)
Spy Kids. My 12-year-old sister rented this one night and I sat through 15 minutes of this shit before curling up in a protective ball.
Troy. Just because I've actually READ the Iliad and I know that the movie is nothing like it, however much mostly nude Brad Pitt it has in it.
Harry Potter movies period. The actors suck and they cut too much out.
ANYTHING with Adam Sandler. I hate that man.

The Longest Yard- the new one

    Bad:
Aquamarine (My sister's birthday was the other day, and she wanted us to watch it, I swear!)
The DaVinci Code (for aforementioned reasons)
    Spy Kids 2
Any and all Barbie movies (Little sisters suck...:()
    Double Jeopardy

    Lets see top 5 -

Raiders of the Lost Ark (Star Wars Empire Strikes Back and LoTR are great, but this one was the one that did it for me.)
Rocky (Can you believe they are going to do a sixth one????? Gah!)
The Great Escape (an oldy, but still a goody Steve McQueen was awesome. Plus the tune you could whistle and always confuse with Bridge over the River Kwai.)
John Carpenter's remake of The Thing (for the early 80's the special effects were mind numbing it beats out the original Alien, because I was so disappointed by the guy in the rubber suit at the end.)
Clerks (The movie that launched Kevin Smith's career. Shows you how far he is fallen that he is going to do a sequel.)

Honourable mention to Grosse Pointe Blank - Watch it if you have never seen it!

Most disappointing movies ( I won't say worst, because there is always wretched crap out there, these however were movies I was really excited to see and left the theater wishing I had spent 90 minutes in the bathroom trying to pass a kidney stone instead.)

Star Trek V - Shatner is a marginal actor and a pathetic director. Not even Spielberg could have saved the plot though.

Starship Troopers - As a sci fi war movie it was pure popcorn fluff, which wasn't bad. The fact that it is my all time favorite book, I just couldn't get past the what they did to a legendary piece of literary work.

Alien 3 - Tridentwatch could have wrote a better script or at least copied it from someone else. Bald headed Sygourney Weaver EWWWWW!

Vampire's kiss - If you don't remember it, congratulations. I can't take Nicolas Cage seriously as an actor because of it.

Chicken Little - Hey I have a 4 year old meaning I have to sit through all the kids movies. Most of them like Shrek and Madagascar slide humor in there over the kids heads to keep the adults reasonably entertained. This one made no effort whatsoever even worse my daughter loves it and when it came out on DVD we watched it over and over.

Star Wars Episode 1 - I don't even know where to start. It was wretched and seemingly designed for all the action sequences for the console games. There were more cliches then your average fanfic!

I'm more partial to the two sequels, but this one rocks too.

Dunno, seemed to me like just another run of the mill war movie from the 60-ies. After Saving Private Ryan, none of these oldies can get my adrenaline going anyway. Non-happy ending deserves a honorable mention, though.

Hey I actually liked it! And I did read the book. Sure, it's not 100% authentic, but it's a great movie in it's own right. Of course, I could have liked it just because I love Verhoven's (sp?) style.

Agree 100%. Even the two average sequels couldn't wash away the bad aftertaste left after this one. This whole deal with episodes 1-3 is the reason I never could get into the Star Wars fandom. They just ruined it.

Fourth one was even worse. This even had its moments... rarely, but did nontheless.

As a popcorn fluff cinema thing, I enjoyed Starship Troopers. I even liked all the Robocop like commercials for joining the Federation. It's just that I had my expectations up for something special. I mean a good chunk of the book dealt with Rico's fascination with his battle armor which was summarily dropped from the movie.

Though, I enjoyed the scenes of the bugs coming towards the fort in broad daylight. Normally all these 'bug' movies rely on dark scenes where you can barely see what is going on. This gave an in your face horde of monsters cresting the hill and charging you. I compounded my error by dragging my wife to the movie only to watch as she cringed at all the scifi gore of exploding bugs and what not.

It was a disappointing experience, but I occasionally watch my vhs tape of it.

As for Saving Private Ryan, it was okay but the plot seemed predictable. Brutal as hell, but predictable.

OMG I totally forgot some more movies I liked:
    1. Reservoir Dogs (and any other QT movie)
    2. Rent (don't ask)
    3. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
    4. Breakfast at Tiffany's
    5. The Incredibles
    6. Sin City (who else thought the uber prostitutes were funny?)
    7. Ed Wood

    Hate
    1. Star Wars Prequels ( Eps. 2&3 picked up the slack but one was horrible and my ears were bleeding from the bad dialogue.)
    2. Anything dealing with Dora the Explorer (I have two younger siblings whoejust LOVE spending time with their big sister)
    3. Space Jam (my brother watched this everyday for a whole summer.

A few good movies I watched recently. Not the best ever, but good enough I think...

Kekexili Mountain Patrol - Finally a Chinese movie without any indication of kung fu. It's a true story about a group of volountiers fighting against poachers in some Tibetian wastelands... Great realism and interesting setting.

Boondock Saints - I think I've seen him somewhere around here before. Anyway, great action with deeper meaning.

The Dancer Upstairs - Very realistic thriller, made in one of South American countries, I think. A honest police detective is trying to catch a Marxist revolutionary leader before the army steps in and starts killing people left and right. Very realistic.

Lucky Number Slevin - Finally a good movie with Bruce Willis. Well directed thriller/action, with very smart and interesting plot.

Running Scared - Fast paced thriller with some very cool visual effects and good, gory action. Good presentation covers nicely for a bunch of plot holes; I didn't even notice them until the movie was over.

Yea, I'm not gonna lie. A lot of the time I've got pretty poor tastes when it comes to movies. It's a curse.

Adding to my list of Bad:
-Waiting and Date Movie: I'm sorry if anyone found these friggin' hilarious, but I just didn't laugh much. Mostly I was just annoyed that I payed money to rent them.

    Adding to the Good:
-The Blues Brothers: This movie contains the single greatest police chase scene I've ever seen, in any movie. Plus John Belushi and Dan Akroyd are, well, something. Something good. Not sure what exactly, but it's good.

    Raiders of the Lost Ark
    Happy Gilmore
Evil Dead series (wooo! Tree rape scene! Funniest. Rape. Ever.)
    Twelve Angry Men (the ORIGINAL)
The Princess Bride (My name is Inigo Montoya! You killed my father! Prepare to die!)

    The BAD:

    M. Night Shyamalan's Signs (Oh noes! Aliens! Quick, Jim-Bob, swing a baseball bat and knock over a glass of water, thus killing the evil that's been devastating the planet!)
    Star Wars Episode 2
    Anything with Hillary Duff
    Anything with Lizzie McGuire
    99.89% of all Disney movies
    Anything based off of Jesus
The Lord of the Rings movies (they took out my favorite parts from ALL of the books! And they made it into a romance, WHICH IT FUCKING WASN'T! Grr, stupid Hollywood whores...)

And JUMPIN' FUCKIN' JESUS, these ones suck rotting zombie donkey cock:

    The Sound of Music
    Mary Poppins
    It's a Wonderful Life
    Anything with Barbie in it
