I'm not trying to be an asshat or anything about this (or jump on the hate-train), but I for one feel that adding things from the comic books (which amount to little more than references, so far) is making it look better. For example, there was a brief reference to Hank Pym in one of the earlier chapters, but the man never actually showed up. People who know only the movies would shrug it off as some random article, whereas people who are familiar with the comics (such as myself) get more out of said article, although what we're getting out of it amounts to an inside joke.

Furthermore, you can't add Harry Potter to a team of superheroes without then ramping up the enemies. Having them fight against Loki just isn't going to cut it this time, because Harry can simply wave his wand, say a few words, and suddenly what was once a fucking dragon is now a mouse. Granted, transfiguration of that scope would require quite a bit of effort, but the point remains.

Thanos would be a decent villain for such a fic, except the problem with Thanos is that sub-consciously he doesn't actually want to be King of the Universe, he thinks he's not worthy of such a position.

So you look to other groups in the Marvel 'verse, trying to find someone or something that would make a properly scaled villain. Galactus reeks of Indy!Harry cliches, so you go for the group that presents a threat without being an insurmountable one, while at the same time not needing to go on a shopping trip. Enter; A.I.M, quite possibly the one entity in the Marvel 'verse that is more advanced than Tony Stark or Reed Richards without exiting our solar system.

Yes, this started out as a crossover with the movies, but like I said, those are the most accessible of all of the Marvel 'verse. Elements of the comics were probably thrown in as in-jokes to those of us who read/have read them, and we've already received confirmation that some of the more wonky elements of the Marvel 'verse aren't going to appear outside of maybe a reference (such as the X-Men).

I'm still waiting for that Deadpool cameo/reference, Roarian. Please add him to the team.

If you're looking for enemies of appropriate level, and you're willing to use video games and comics as a resource for that, you can do a lot better than A.I.M. They're just a bunch of flunkies with guns. Iron Man can handle them all by himself with minimal backup.

Again, I can't overstate the need to at least put in some things from the Strange side of things. Loki alone may not pose a significant threat anymore, but Loki is a freaking Asgardian (or Frost Giant, if you want to be technical). He's only not a god by virtue of the fact that he's not technically divine. And that's splitting hairs, because very few things in the Marvelverse are. Have Loki call up some literal Hell, cut a deal with some demons. If you can make a side-reference to Pimm, you can reference Dormammu or Mephisto. In fact, Mephisto would probably be better. He and Thor have some old grudges. I could see Loki going to Mephisto for help simply to spite his brother.

You said you'd stop being a dick. You even publicly apologized to me and said you wouldn't do it again, and then we were friends and talked about stuff.

What the hell happened? It's not like I'm making trollposts about, even though I know more than enough to do it. Chill out.

    Stop. Being. Butthurt.

You wanna know why people get pissed? Because you don't provide real feedback, not at all. All you do is try to tell people how to write their stories. But you know what? I've read some of yours. And they're pretty shitty. So I'll go ahead and trust Roarian here over you, because he's actually proved himself to be competent and capable.

You have simply proved yourself to be an idiot.

I just considered it an AU of the Movieverse and left it at that. Mixing different sources and whatnot doesn't bother me much, since I'm familiar with and enjoy all of them to varying extents. It's all Marvel to me.

I don't really like Stark hiding his identity in this either. The lack of secret identities overall is something I actually enjoyed about the Movieverse, at least with the characters so far. I mean, Spider-Man, if he were involved, would still need a secret identity. But there's enough there to balance it out, I feel. And it's always possible that Tony will eventually reveal himself anyway, once the conditions for it are more optimal. I don't think his personality is well suited to keeping it a secret for very long.

Every AU marvel story doesn't have to be the same. Lord Raine, you should take all this time and energy trying to get Roarian to write this story for you and write all these things you want yourself. Roarian is writing a great story that a lot of other people enjoy. Maybe it isn't exactly how you would want it but that's the point of writing your own material. Go ahead and write a story about Harry Potter being the Sorcerer Supreme. Go ahead and have Loki and Mephisto be the big bads. Maybe it will be a good story or maybe not but it will be your story, not Roarian's.

I like this story and I trust the author to continue the right course. It would be a tragedy if he fucked up the story because of crappy feedback. Yes, your feedback thus far has been crappy. Sorry.

Helpful feedback: "I didn't think AIM seemed to be a large enough scale threat in the story like you made them out to be and it threw me off so I didn't enjoy that part that much." With that the author can maybe flesh out the organization to make them seem more dangerous or complex if other people agree. Remember, this story isn't being written for you and you alone.

Crappy Feedback: "Your story isn't exactly how I think it should be so these are all my ideas that you have to use if you want your story to be good. Do it and thank me."

That kind of feedback doesn't help the author of the story you don't read anymore and leads to the thread going from awesome things to arguing with you about nonsense. Like this post. If your goal was to clear up your side of the story after Roarian posted your edited PM then you have accomplished your goal. Move on.

Finally posted a chapter again, after ages.

Granted, it's basically a huge talkfest that will probably be broke up a little before I really post it on ffnet and stuff, but still. It's basically part of both the ongoing storyline (the whole Tarleton, AIM, Death, Seidhr business) as well as Asgard, which is inevitable with Thor's arrival and the canon stuff.

    Cheers.

I really dig where you're going with Spider-Man in this. And the Scorpion cameo

Does Harry have pneumonia or something? He shivers nonstop in this chapter.

I always have some word or another that I overuse. -shrug-

Usually it's sighing, or shrugging, or exclaiming, or something like that. Shiver is new.

Also, could Harry not be so chatty? He is shown to be quite taciturn, a proper gentlemanly trait. In this chapter, suddenly harry is eager to discuss anything from morality to philosophy with anyone that was nearby.

I, on the other hand, loved the talk filled chapter. If a story is Harry simply being yet another superhero, that's boring as shit.

By all means, keep the talks in. They make the characters far more real (you even stopped me from loathing Tony Stark!), and I, for one, enjoyed it.

How do you even do that? He's one of the most likeable characters in the Marvel universe.

The only time I noticed the "talky-ness" was when Harry was with Peter. I took that to be intentional because Harry is somewhat playing the mentor figure here.

Personally for sure, but the concept of 'privatizing world peace' scares the shit out it me.

And he was trying to work up the courage to tell him about his role in Uncle Ben's death.

The latest chapter was very good. Honestly I had lost a good amount of interest in the series (the one-liners & blasé attitude of the characters). This chapter re-sparked it... the character exposition was great. And the scene(s) leading up to the fight with the murderers were also done very well.

I read each word with more anticipation than the last. Good ending to the chapter too - loved that.

How did Harry even know how to activate the Axis, seeing as he obliviated himself of all knowledge of how to use the Axis as a gateway? What would stop him from obliviating himself on the other side? He either makes the trip and comes out intact (fully intending to obliviate himself) or is maimed or killed; either way, his "home" is protected.

I read it as Harry erasing all his research and knowledge of how it worked, and the specifics, but leaving himself with the basic ability to use it. Like if you knew all the ins and outs of how to make a computer, power it, write a program, password protect it, and so on... but then lost everything but the ability to turn it on and check your e-mail. Being able to check e-mail allows you to communicate but without all the other knowledge (about how to build a computer, write the e-mail program, etc.) it's next to useless. --(This crappy example also assumes that knowledge of computers is not commonplace)--

I assume he didn't want to obliviate himself on the other side because something could happen "in between" possibly, or right when he arrived at the other end (if something went wrong or if he had no idea where he'd end up). Just safer to do it first?
