So you'd be happy with a release on the original Game Boy?

I have mixed feelings about this one. On one hand, I'm interested in the new Pokemon that'll be released (although the ones shown so far don't inspire much hope), and I already have a 3DS so I don't really need to worry about getting one (although I'd like to have two so that I can, you know, trade).

On the other hand, what I've seen so far is kinda... meh. I don't like the designs for the new starters (and god help TPC if the fire starter is another fucking Fire/Fighting line ), nor the design and look of the game itself. Time will tell.

I'm excited for this! I'll miss sprites a lot, but I think they can pull off this change. Always great to have more pokemon games.

To be honest, I'd prefer if they didn't move past GBA.

I like my DS, but given that I've only played about 3 games on it and there are plenty more out there that I want to play... I see no reason really for me personally to upgrade. It's powerful enough for me for a handheld, so until I run out of games I want to play on it I'm probably pretty good.

Though I've been tempted by the new PSP or whatever. The one that you can get full versions of FF7 and whatnot on.

I just bought a 3DS a couple weeks ago (for a few games that are coming out this year and the next), so having more content to justify that purchase is a good thing. I hope they don't fuck up the starters' evolved designs, I really like the first forms.

Vita. It's a pretty cool system, has some pretty cool games on it. More interesting (for me anyways) than what the 3DS has to offer, anyways.

EDIT: Why isn't this thread in the Pokemon subforum?

    Are you joking?

Am I the only one who saw the grass starter and immediately thought of Oshawott?
As usual, I'll probably wait on seeing their final forms before deciding.

Anyone know if/how well 3DS would work on an emulator?

Generation 6 already? Holy crap I'm aging.

That said, I really, really hope that this time they don't repeat the same tried and true formula of facing Gym Leaders/Elite 4 and catching 100-150 new pokemon that were prevalent in previous games. Instead, I would like them to try something new with fewer but better thought out designs (50 or below) so that the pressure of creating a bunch of new pokemon doesn't impact on the design quality.

The chances of any of that happening are fuck all, though.

I'd like to see one grass pokemon that doesn't have leaves/vines/greenery coming out of its head/back/asshole.

Seriously, the only one who doesn't is Virizion. Sceptile and Serperior are somewhat less "leafy" but still have random tufts growing out of them.

Just maybe it's because Grass Pokemon are meant to represent plant-life? Just putting it out there.

What do you call a grass type with no plants? A bug.

Not all fire types are on fire even if a lot are. While a lot of water types are fish or other aquatic creatures, they have quite a few who aren't. Grass type is the most unoriginal they have in the series, and I think it's because they insist on sticking leaves on every single one they've released in 650 pokemon.
    Every. One.

@ Everyone going on about how old they feel...

I remember Red and Blue/Green coming out and thinking "Man, these look like little kid games. I'm too old to play these."

I played anyway, but yeah. Also watched the cartoon but didn't tell anyone because again, it was for kids.

At any rate... I never finished Black and White so if I pick pokemon up again I'll probably just finish that up. :)

I remember getting Yellow the same time I got my HP book 1 for Christmas. Holy shit. Also I dig the new fire starter.

Boy, Pokemon X and Y sure are weird names for the Gen 3 remakes-

They could hardly start off a new generation with Gen 3 remakes. Gen 5 was just that little bit too close to gen 3. I didn't feel like there was enough of an improvement in graphics to merit a remake. If anything the remakes will probably rear their heads after X and Y.

(Though I'd still like to see Gen 6 Red and Blue) >_>

The graphics is the key here. Gen 6 has been in development for a while, so why would they release two remakes using old hardware when everyone knew there would be an upgrade soon? The full 3D graphics is a nice surprise, but the move to 3DS is hardly unexpected.

We'll probably get the R/S/E remakes (and/or a new Mystery Dungeon) before we get Pokemon Z.
