Shit, there aren't that many first-person stories to begin with, let alone make a top 3 with. In fact, the only three I can think of are TLIL, Thunderstorm (my fic), and One of the Many (which seems to be abandoned after one chapter but is still pretty damn good).

 

Having seen The Hobbit not too long ago, I'm craving some HP/LotR crossovers. I've only read one or two rather dreadful ones... any suggestions?

Thank the German Gods that Sesc finally namedropped my fics - Breach of Contract and Incorruptible - because I was this close to posting and saying, "Hey, they might not be Top 3 material, but they have first person that's not entirely crappy and flashbacks that are even pretty okay! So here, look!" No wait, I'm doing that now. Whatevs, shameless whoring knows no, uh, shame.

(And of that list, Ambient, Unatoned and What Lies Beneath would be my fave three, by the by. But read them all, really.)

 

Obviously I'm terribad at this whole memory thing. Matt and Sesc write amazing stories and I'm seconding the What Lies Beneath rec.

Edit: (Noticed that like 50% of those fics have been written by 4 authors, which, well, DLP C2 and all, but still.)

Although

Couldn't it be argued that he prevented lot's of innocent deaths by murdering murderers? Of course, he was more of a punished after the fact, but some suspected serial killers must have been caught in that killing spree.

I'm looking for a post-hogarts story I'm pretty sure I've known thanks to the Almost Recommended threads but can't find it anymore.

What I remember of it: a few years after book 7, Hermione and Ron moved on with their lives and basically left Harry behind, who becomes depressed and a drunk.

Draco met him and decide to bring him in his manor to clean him up.

The pairing at the end is Harry/Daphne. He also has sex with Gabrielle Delacours at some point.

Harry is Draco's best man when he married Astoria.

 

Recently I've been reading 'life is a video game' stories in the Naruto fandom, and I'm finding myself oddly hooked. Are there any HP stories that make a good attempt at it? I'm not opposed to pen-and-paper style systems either, so long as it's not a full crossover, or I don't have to go into it with a lot of knowledge about the game. I've already found Harry Potter and the Natural 20.

 

There's Harry Potter: Game of the Year Edition which is a pretty direct copy of the similarly-named Naruto fic, but it's not very long or very good.

 

I read a timetravel story, where an adult Harry ends up in the body of James Potter when he has an accident during Quidditch. Charlus Potter is a widower in that and there is a new prophecy made regarding Harry. Oh and Nicholas Flamel is also present in that story.

It's a James/ Lily story, or one can say, a Harry/ Lily one and I can't find it anymore. Help would be appreciated.

I think I remember reading a story in which Umbrige is turned into a toad by someone. I think she falls in love with Trevor? She is turned back into a human but then she wants to be a toad again, or something like that.
Don't remember he it was good or not. Any ideas? Which fc was this?

Heather Sinclair's Gentleman Usher of the Scarlet Rod is one that comes to mind.

(I'm working on one at the moment as well--can't say how good it'll be though.)
