Note: I am not pictured above. But I looked dapper in my scarf.

This past weekend, I was joined by about a dozen people for a Harry Potter bar crawl.

The Rules we used: Pick a House, you dress up as that House in some way (scarves, ties, robes, etc.). You earn House Points represented by plastic Galleons (kept in a sizable Crown Royal bag by the Dumbledore!Host).

Drinks earn you Galleons for your house:
    - Beer and ciders are 1 Galleon
    - Mixed drinks are 2 Galleons
    - Shots are 3 Galleons

Every 30 minutes there are 3-5 Harry Potter Trivia questions, which earn you a variable number of Galleons in reward for a correct answer.

Easy questions ("Parvati Patil was a member of this House") earn 1 Galleon.

Medium questions ("The name of Ron's owl was?") earn 2 Galleons.

Hard questions ("In HP and the Sorcerer's Stone, Dumbledore awarded last minute points that allowed Gryffindor to win the House Cup. How many points did Gryffindor win by?") earned 3 Galleons.

Challenge questions also existed, which you had to opt in for before being asked. These were worth 5 points and if you answered incorrectly, you lost 5 points. They were of similar difficulty to the Hard questions.

To answer questions, you would raise your wand and yell "Lumos", whoever Dumbledore!Host heard first answered first.

I was the only member of Slytherin House (Gryffindor had 5!) and I came in second place due to steamrolling the trivia :p. We all had a great time being dorky, and had literally 20 people come up to us to tell us we were awesome and they wish they had friends that would do that. Over 7ish hours we hit up 4 bars. One of them had a special "butterbeer" mixed drink especially for us involving butterscotch schnapps that was quite good.

I'm with the random people that wished they had friends that awesome.

At some point in the next couple of years I'm going to fly over to America and we are all doing this. None of you have a choice in this.

The DLP version would feature trivia from the C2 as well as canon. Intense as fuck.

And then there would be this awkward moment when someone would know a fic better than its author. :p

For some reason I feel like I'd only be good at the drinking portion of this.

To be fair, by the end of the night, most everyone is only good at the drinking part.

The last round of trivia, no one else even attempted to answer, and I scored Slytherin another 11 points. Hail to the chief.

The guy on the left in the second picture, baring the scar, looks like a very young Arthur Weasley.

I've got a couple friends who would probably do this, pulled stunts like this with LoTR back in college, but we're all scattered across the country now.

Heh. Most of the fanfic I've written over the last few years was under the influence of something. This would hold true.

Something like this would be the ultimate, awesomest meet-up ever.

Already done this. Unfortunately I don't have the pictures, but we actually had a guy make himself a fake-eye to complete his Mad-eye Moody outfit.

That awkward moment when you answer a canon question with a fanfic answer and everyone is looking at you like, "Daphne Greengrass was most certainly not raped by her father and accidentally murdered by Harry!"

But yeah, it sounds kinda fun, though I'm not one for dressing up, so I'd just show like normal and claim it as a Mundungus cosplay. What house was he even in?

Strangely enough this does sound fucked up and :awesome: enough that I would be willing to fly all the way from Norway to join in...what the hell does that say about me?

Guy on the left in the photo above looks way more like Lupin than Harry.
