Yeah, this trailer and the latest for Heart of the Swarm are both equally awesome.

I really can't understand why companies such as Blizzard and Bethesda don't make some short films set in their fictional worlds, just to at least test the waters of filmmaking. No doubt any film set in the Elder Scrolls universe would become a blockbuster. Same for anything set in the worlds of StarCraft or WarCraft.

As for ESO... I, on principle, do not pay to play (except for the initial purchase). I doubt this game will make me change my mind. It would have to be something pretty spectacular to make me pay a monthly rate just for a computer game. I'd be happy if it did exceed my expectations, though.

See... Blizzard wants to make a WoW film. Fuck knows why. the Warcraft universe is probably the one I'd want to see a film about the least...

A starcraft movie would be incredible. Even Diablo would be better than WoW. :/

They want to make it because they have a fanbase that is millions strong already, and a large majority of them would likely go to see it. It would be practically guaranteed to turn a profit even if it was directed by Uwe Boll.

Basically this. Blizzard knows that if they make a Warcraft movie, even if it's a shitty one on par with Doom and Resident Evil, that they'll still make money hand-over fist, because millions of people will go to see it at least once.

There's a reason they were seriously considering doing a Halo movie at one point. It's because they knew that every fratboy in existence would go see it, even the ones that think CoD is better.

Hey, a Halo movie could be awesome. I know the games don't really have a very amazing story but some of the stuff in the books is pretty good. Plus the Halo live action trailers are just about the coolest game trailers ever. Seriously, I get chills when I watch some of the ODST trailers and the ones with the old guys in the Mombasa museum.

Plus, it was supposed to be Neill Blomkamp directing with Peter Jackson producing, and they made District 9 instead. So yeah, it probably would have been pretty amazing if it wasn't cancelled.

    Seconded.

Not really sure what you mean by this. Rift had great PvE endgame content and GW2 has the best gameplay with some good ol' PvP fun. If a game were to be a hybrid of the two I'd be all over it.

Many do. Editors are a fairly transient bunch. Others are created by creative agencies, who either do them in house or outsource to production houses. This is rarer now more and more people are doing production in-house, but the real money for editors (unless you're industry-veteran) is in television and corporate work. Freelancing on creative projects is considerably less lucrative.

The best cinematic game trailers are created by specialist post houses, though, when commissioned by distributors, as Digic's Assassin's Creed: Revelations trailer proves.

Hmm, there is a Halo film. I haven't seen it but I think it's called Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn

That's not really a film, it's a live-action web series they did before Halo 4 came out. It was pretty good nonetheless.

Opinions differ widely. I thought it was terrible, though I'm a jaded and cynical soul. Yes, it was flashy and shiny, but it completely failed to make me care about the characters. Mostly because I predicted with 100% accuracy exactly what would happen to every single one of them within the first ten minutes.

Aggressive Asshole? Obviously will continue to be a dick, but will die doing something heroic, possibly to buy time or avert a disaster. Outcome: He jumped on a Sword Elite to buy the other kids time, and died, obviously.

Kindly Nurturing Female Presence That Likes The Protagonist? Will die a pointless and avoidable death, to prove that War is Cruel and Bad. Outcome: She died a pointless and avoidable death, proving that war is cruel and bad. Also, Needlers do not work that way, but I've seen a lot of fanboys try to bullshit that they do.

Awkward Male Protagonist With Budding Leadership Skills? Will be the only meaningful survivor of the academy group. Outcome: He was the only meaningful survivor of the academy group.

Was the series okay? Yeah, it wasn't bad. But the first three or so episodes are completely pointless, because it's just highschool drama recanned into military academy format, and horribly cliched highschool drama at that, and the few good parts are when Master Chief shows up and wrecks things, but he's not even the person the series follows, so you only see it happen like four times.

If they had a higher production value and stopped trying to make us care about NPCs, it might be a movie formula that wouldn't be totally shitty.

But seriously, the characters are terrible. It's not the acting. It's the writing. When I can tell you exactly how everything will happen just from listening to them talk for five minutes, you've got a goddamn problem with your characterization. They're cliche to the point that it's almost a caricature of military and highschool personality types. If it wasn't trying to take itself so seriously, I would have thought it was a parody.

I was using NoScript but I tried "allowing the entire page" and it still didn't work. That usually lets things like this go through with no problem.

    Using Internet Explorer worked though.

Yeah, you need to remember that shit. I tried going to Forbes once, and just got a blank wall for one of the pages. It took me longer than it should have to figure out what the hell was wrong. They run a lot of scripts, apparently.
