Agreed. Some day I'll finish that half-written chapter of Unlocked Knowledge :(

Honestly I think the next chapter of Escape - titled The Seduction of Narcissa Malfoy - is coming first, though.

I actually found this to be great; the romance was a great starting point, and now it seems to have gotten into a full fledged adventure. I agree that the contract BS seems pretty legit, which for contract BS is a neigh-unbelievable achievement.

Would give 5/5, More people need to pair Katie/Harry she totally deserves to be OU.

I was quite enjoying this, up until the last chapter. What Happy does after the third task and Katie's reaction (or lack thereof) blew my suspension of disbelief right out the window.
Its true though, more stories with this pairing need to be written.

    Happy/Katie is the OTP.

Katie's lack of reaction could be attributed to shock. We'll have to wait and see her thought process in the next chapter to determine if that's the case or the author just misstepped.

I've enjoyed what's there. I wouldn't vote it in the library yet. The main story probably only begins now.

    Yeah I read that...it's...oddly compelling.

I mean, there are terrible parts to it, but the insight into other houses is really fascinating. The Hufflepuffs are great characters, and I really hate Lisa Turpin a lot - it's the best Lisa I've read.

Oddly compelling sounds about right for that fic. One of the few fics where "slogging through the rougher parts" felt genuinely worth the effort to get to the gems.

You don't even really have to slog through the rough parts; just skip every scene with Harry in it.

Oh lordy. A transgender Hermione? I'm not even opening that, because I'll be stunned if the author doesn't misgender them all the time.

    Category: Harry Potter
    Title: Allure Immune Harry
    Genre: Humor/Romance
    Rating: Rated: T
    Pairing: Harry/Fleur
    Status: Completed One-Shot
Summary: Harry had no idea why the boys in the Great Hall drooled over themselves as the students from Beuxbatons made their entrance, but he knew better than to let an opportunity slip. He hurriedly stole Ron's sandwich. It tasted gloriously.

I ran across this story today and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The author has Fleur speak in perfect English rather than to speak in broken English, which I am fine with but other than that My rating for this story is 4/5.

Here is another story I've been following for a while. It's kinda similar to Prince of Dark Kingdom, but there quite a few original ideas. The author is a 14 year old girl who hates slash pairing in Harry Potter. Three cheers for that. I only am posting this now because of the explosive latest chapter.

    Title: Ice Crux.

    Author: Hermione Prime.

Summary: The Boy-Who-Lived didn't exist. Voldemort attained the final victory. As a feared authoritarian figure, he rules the Wizarding World and Hogwarts in the shadows. And when a magically talented Harry Potter arrives at Hogwarts, he attracts the unwanted attention of the Dark Lord. Following a magnificent duel Harry is blackmailed into becoming his second apprentice.

My impression: Albus Dumbledore isn't dead. That counts for something since in PODK, the good guys found it almost impossible to fight back. The update rate is quite good too. 1-2 chapters every week is definitely good.

I'd give it a 3/5 since I feel that the author can improve in quite a few areas.

I want to combine parts of this with parts of Prince of a Dark Kingdom and make a perfect Lord Voldemort Rules Over England fic to read.

PoaDK is a lot better, but this has some good ideas and is quite readable, nearly library worthy.

I only made it to chapter two, but everything in those two chapters was dreadful.

Voldemort acting like a schoolyard bully. Everyone constantly flinching when talking to him. Magical cores. Uber abusive Dursleys. Horrid dialog. Harry calling Snape dad.

Can you go further into why this is a worthwhile fic? PODK is one of my favorite fic's and I would desperately like to read something like it, but the start of this one is just crushing any interest I might have through the association.

Just to clarify, Harry called Snape "Dad" in a questioning manner because he was the one to come tell him about magic. Not because he thinks of Snape as his father.

Because most of that stuff gets better, but that's exactly why I said PoaDK is considerably better; the beginning of that fic is pretty much one of my top 5.

I didn't really consider the Dursley-abuse in this story grossly over the top, though. And you never hear from them again until one of the most recent chapters.

The author starts out quite mediocre and develops somewhat with time. Not the greatest story ever, but something to pass the day.
