It would be easier just to attribute it to Rowling's math skills, honestly.

Found it under 'interesting facts' or something like that, I think in 9gag, and now I'm curious if there is a grain of truth in this.
    Thanks.

    Well...

    Back in 1999 Rowling said:

So I'd guess she basically knew where to go from the beginning. Apart from that she probably adjusted the last chapter when something didn't turn out as she had planned it at first.

So, yes, you could say she wrote several alternative endings. But I highly doubt it ever came even remotely near the capture of that picture.

Sounds like this. There was a thread about it a couple of years ago; the general consensus was that either a) the guy posting it had made the whole thing up, b) Rowling made the scenario up on a whim to shut him up, or c) Rowling did come up with it, but then looked at it and decided to write another ending when she'd sobered up.

Rowling wrote when she was sober?

Don't know if this was asked:
Why was Voldemort not the master of the Elder Wand, after all, he defeated its master?

Albus Dumbledore was its master. Then Draco disarmed him and became its master. Then Harry disarmed Draco and became its master. Voldemort killing Snape achieved nothing because Snape was never its master.

Edit: Or did you mean when Voldemort 'killed' Harry in the forest?

Yes, basically Voldemort defeated Harry in the forest.

Damn. I'd almost managed to forget about all that disarming bullshit.

Voldemort didn't defeat Harry. Harry willingly went there and let himself get cursed. There was no duel, fight or contest of any kind.

For purposes of a wand that supposedly loves destruction and fighting and whatnot... that's a bit of a cop out.

Is there canon evidence for that being JKRs thoughts on it? I haven't read DH in ages.

I haven't read DH since 2009 either, so I can't really give evidence. But I'm pretty sure it's that.

Or is it because Voldemort used a wand that "belonged" to Harry and that it didn't want to attack its master?

    Need to reread DH.

The Elder Wand doesn't act against it's own master. Still, if Dumbledore's whole Harry's blood in Voldemort theory in keeping Harry alive didn't work out, I think Voldemort would have become the new master of the Death Stick.

And the magic Rowling described in DH was so delicate with many variables that I am sure the Unspeakables would spend half their lifetime researching if the news reached their ears.

When Harry says that he died without a fight and let Voldemort kill him, Dumbledore says "And that, I think, will have made all the difference."

Seems to me that not fighting was rather key.

I took that more to be in terms of "activating" the protection that kept everyone from dying (barring those who died prior to Harry that night). Rather than dealing with ownership of the wand.

    But yet another fair point.

Also -- re-reading (partially skimming) DH. The trace, and the fact that it apparently wears off magically at 17,is canon! I had thought it was a stupid fanon invention for some reason.

Seems a bit suspicious, though. I mean, it's not like Dumbledore was trying particularly hard to stop Draco disarming him the the first place. What's the difference?

JKR might have taken the specifics from fanon. It was part of especially indy!Harry fanfiction long before it was explicitly mentioned in canon.

Though we have been knowing that the Ministry is monitoring underage magic since CoS. Just the specifics haven't been known until DH.

The block Snape put in his hand was reaching its limit, he had drunk a foul potion devised by Lord Voldemort and Draco surprised them. He wasn't in his top form to counter the charm, I think.

Pretty sure Dumbledore was unaware of Draco's presence and thus was legitimately disarmed.
