There’s no way Sylveon is a normal type. I’d expect a fully normal-type Eevee evolution to look more like Eevee, and why would Game Freak make a big deal about its type if it were just normal? It could be flying/normal, but I dunno, it doesn’t have any means to fly unless its ribbons could double as wings.

There’s been talk on a forum I frequent that Sylveon could be a new type: Fairy. Sylveon certainly fits a butterfly theme, if nothing else. Fairy could be weak to steel and poison-type, making the poison-type somewhat useful again.

These are some of the names that have been released for Sylveon:

Ninfana (Japanese): Someone translated this name in a post but I can’t find it upon looking back. Something about high-class and princess-type meanings?
Sylveon (English): The name Sylvan means forest or woods, and the word sylph means a type of fairy or air spirit.
Nymphali (French): From ‘nymph’ meaning spirit of the forest.
Feelinara (German): No idea.

 

Again, I really can't see a new type being added.

 

The Japanese is Ninfia. As in Nymph-ia. Nymph.

I mean absolutely no offense whatsoever, Vira, but if it is a new type and that type is Fairy, I will stab someone to death with a baby seal in Liam Neeson's voice. That would be even worse than Light. At least Light is a goddamn element and has precedence, what with the existence of Dark.

With all the sylph connotations, I'm betting it will either be Normal/Flying or, more likely, since it is an Eeveloution, pure Flying. Because unless the lateness of the hour has addled my mind, there has never been a mixed type Eevee evolution.

 

I wouldn't mind seeing mid-battle evolution.

 

Now that would be interesting.

Or be able to stop it so you could save the turn as well? though that would only be useful in nuzlockes where wasting a turn could get you killed.

Due to them being labeled as rumors, being a massive info dump of change, and the non customizable names makes me really want to just disregard everything from that article.

On the other hand I bet at least one of them will turn out to be true.

More than a few comments on that source call it as 4chan shenanigans.

Frankly I hope so, because no more customizable names? Screw that and the entire future generations. I'm barely tolerant of the change to full 3D renders and the death of sprites as it is.

 

Phew. Non-customizable name means no buy for me. I doubt they'd do that, though.

In the original thread the "non-customizable" meant the possible character model customization everyone was gossiping about, not the names. Poorly worded, but not blatantly retarded. And while I'd take anything from 4chan with a whole shaker of salt, it's still an interesting read. It all seems a bit silly reading it laid out in a list, but it might actually be an interesting game to play if it turns out to be true.

100:1 odds it's a troll, though.

Gotta say, I would not say no to some Chrono Trigger-style time travel fun in a Pokemon game. Shame it's as fake as my left pinky toe, but still.
