That story isn't entertaining. Sure, the details are all in the right place, and its grammar and such are all fine, but there isn't anything to grab your attention. All it's doing is adding dialogue to the what little is actually known about Harrenhal and the rebellion. The restriction to just Ned's and Lyanna's POV also hinders it; there are so many different characters that limiting it to just two makes it boring. 2/5

I read that one a while ago. Even though I was apprehensive at first (it's a story that's been told in this fandom about bajillion and one times by now) it was pretty good compared to the others. I actually liked how it kept mostly to Ned and Lyanna's perspectives. It kept the story focused. I just wish it had been more unique.

    Crossing The Freys

Author: JohnnyHarder Roslin could play the game that Robb couldn't see. In the same way he could swing a sword or give an order, she would protect him from those closest to him. Robb could win the battles, his Queen would make sure the daggers never touched him. AU from end of GOT onward. Will have Arya, Bran and Jon chapters later, but for now very Robb/Roslin centric

    Rated: Fiction T - English - Fantasy/Drama - Robb S. & Roslin F. - Chapters: 5 - Words: 22,183 - Reviews: 24 - Favs: 22 - Follows: 43 - Updated: 02-21-13 - Published: 12-26-12 - id: 8838328

Just found this and have only read the first chapter so far. It's written fairly well, though Robb seems a little too competent without any canon change at this point. Mainly it's just the author's own choices towards Robb's growth in the story at this point, but I'm a fan of Robb in general so I'll read pretty much anything to do with him and making him not so much of an idiot is a plus. But yeah, I despise Walder Frey so him getting handled in the opening chapter automatically grants this story as recommendation.

    Edit

Never mind, I'm on chapter 3 and it feels as though all the conflict is quickly coming to an end. I don't want to spoil anything but...
Tyrion is the captured along with Tywin (no Jaime so far) and the Robb has just slain the Mountain -__-
    Talk about escalating quickly.

New chapter on Ned Stark Lives 2 is pretty cool, despite being Cersei POV.

First fic I've read that has dealt with the Iron Bank as more than just a footnote. A good depiction on why they're known to always get their dues. Even though they're getting paid, the fact they got humiliated was enough to send a very terrifying warning.

    Oh yeah and
that assassin got shit done in a short time and I really kinda like the little bits of character development coming to Tommen, even though he's probably going to die, either by Stannis or Dany - I just can't see the Lannisters winning, though the author seems like he's leaning towards the less-tragic side so he just may live

Look at the name, it should be obvious.
^^ This. Stan the Man is the one true king of Westeros. Fuck the Haters, mummers, and usurpers.

Second, this fic is awesome. It captures Stannis' character almost as beautifully as Martin did with Maester Cressen in A Clash of Kings. The subtle changes that the author does bring all seem realistic enough. As for the plot, it seems like everyone's too happy with each other in this particular fic (not nearly enough scheming) and there isn't nearly enough death but hopefully that will change with recent events. I think someone else mentioned the AU-ness of Arya and I totally agree with whoever it was, some of the other characters feel kinda off too especially Robert in the later chapters. Having said all of that, just for the way, the author captures Stannis, I'm giving this a 4/5

True that. While I don't like all the angst and drama a lot of these stories have, this story seems to have none. It's even rated K, which should be like against the rules for an I&F story - based on the canon story alone it should be at least a T. With where the story is now as of chapter 18's ending, it feels like it's going to start picking up some, so I'm hoping for some more action and - dare I even say it? - a raise in the story rating.

In Good Company has been updated several times since it was last mentioned in this thread. Still high quality.

I found This over at Archive of our Own. It's a prequel story where Robert was killed at the Trident and the other lords are taken as prisoners. It's only 5 chapters so far, but they are 5 decent chapter.

Been following A Better Fate for a while and its pretty good. Short chapters, but a fast update rate.

Summary: Jon Snow is spurred in a different direction and this has lasting effects on the Starks and the North. The story begins two years before AGOT.

Instead of going to the Wall, Jon squires in Riverrun. One thing I like about this is that the author does't use this to make massive changes to cannon, instead Jon is out of contact on his own journey from the beginning of the books until after the Red Wedding. Then he comes back and had to deal with the consequences which is what just started happening.

I've tried to read that once or twice before. I always stopped because of the OC, I've never been very tolerant of them. But I find them even more annoying when they're used to romance a character and I can't help but feel it's an SI, which I loath even more.

I'll give it another shot, but I don't really expect to get too much farther into it.

Edit: Yeah, I really can't stand the OC. Boom out of nowhere and Jon's heart is all aflutter.

I remember reading it a while back and just didn't end up liking the way the author wrote.

It's not something I'd care to read.

Gave up about halfway through the first chapter.

I'd need more to really judge it but from what you have I quite like it. I'm usually wary about HP/ASoIaF xovers but yours seems nicely done.

The premises for the fic is really interesting for me. I have always felt that HP/Asoiaf xover won't really work out, but I do hope this time I am proved wrong.

Thank Celestin, it was his premise.

My only complaint with that fic is that Harry hates Stannis. It's impossible to hate Stannis. He is the gloriously awkward stiff-backed teeth-grinding genius with a breadth of sarcastic wit so fine he no doubt believes himself the funniest man in Westeros, and he's fucking right to, who not only deserves the Iron Throne, but at least six other thrones and kingdoms under the beauty of his rule. If Harry wants to get anywhere in this story, he better wise up quick and get to serving the Rightful Fucking King Stannis Baratheon.

Apart from that, I likey. Celestin's plot bunny concept is damn solid - as all of his are - and someone putting it to use is always gonna be a winner. You're balancing out Harry's memory/power gap thingie well so far, so cool cool. Keep up the good work man!

    Though seriously, the Stannis thing.

    /judging you.
