GB really manages to succeed with the strangest crossovers.

Wabi Sabi is a batshit insane story with a more than crazy plot and characters that seem to have escaped the asylum but the story still works. It is enjoyable, funny and sometimes but never takes itself serious which is probably the reason why I enjoyed it that much. Like other said shows it perfectly that GB is a good writer when given a word limiter. I would say it is library worthy.

For the crossover part: Seems like he took mostly Air Gear parts and only used a few things out of Sankarea, and mostly earlier parts at that as the original plot differs greatly.

Just read The Price of Honor. Why is it dead? Great, incomplete stories make so sad. I shouldn't have read, but it was worth it.

The author's opinion on Price of Honor: "That thing is a vent fic featuring an OC looking like Naruto, and a mess that needs serious revision if I want it to advance in a way that even remotely satisfies me. This may or may not be done."

Which he said over three years ago.

So I decided to give this a go because I was bored. To start with, it was the very definition of guilty pleasure. Not very well written, cheesy overpowered Naruto, everything you can expect from him getting Anko as a sensei, etc etc.

But then the first mission started. And somehow, Case13 managed to write one of the most interesting missions I've ever read in a Naruto fic. It still has major issues - most obviously, everything goes way too smoothly for Naruto. But I've never really read anything like it. The fight scenes are written in a really fun to read way, the mission itself is very unique (I've only seldom seen something that focuses on the tactics of the battle - and they're usually very dry to read) and there's enough unpredictable stuff that you stay hooked. Was pretty sad to see it ended before the mission actually properly concluded. =(

It was also kinda nostalgic to see Yondaime called Arashi Kazama.

I liked the wolf in the sheeps clothing. That mission arch was very original.

I prefferd the Art of the Deal from the same author thought.

    Why?

    It is.

This was written like WAY before we had any real inkling to what his name was.

The Yondaime Hokage unknowingly makes a change during the sealing, the consequences of which are unimaginable for both Naruto and Konoha. What do these consequences mean for Naruto?

Be forewarned: The Naruto in this fic is extremely OP.

I haven't read a bloodline!Naruto fic in a while, and I think I've only read one Mokuton!Naruto story before, and that was ages ago when not much was known about Hashirama and his wood techniques. This fic is very new and has a very fast update rate, so it's pretty much completely current in terms of the manga.

In this fic, Naruto is the reincarnation of Senju Hashirama, whose life he recalls one day while still attending the Academy.

It's a bit of a canon retread but with a few twists to add flavour to the story here and there. The latest chapter involved events completely and radically divergent from canon, and several other aspects of the story lead me to believe that any canon retreading is about to come to an end, which is good.

The fic is by no means perfect, but it's not too bad and kind of fun if you don't mind a ridiculously OP protagonist. In any case, the fact that Hashirama was absurdly powerful is now definitely canon, so the fic is at least canon-compliant. Heh.

Ugh that first chapter almost put me off. The characterization just irks me for all characters.

Okay I just.... powered through the rest.

Oh god what is this story I dont even.

It just seems wrong somehow on a fundamental level.

Well, you're definitely right about characterisation. It's often pretty terrible.

Honestly, I'm just a real fan of Hashirama and Mokuton, and I've been wanting to read a fic about a Mokuton!Naruto for a while. Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be a good one anywhere. This was the 'best' I could find, which isn't saying much. If someone could recommend a better one, that'd be great.

I've got the same hankering and I've been toying with writing a Mokuton!Naruto fic. Anyway, Tuebor is the only one that comes to mind. It's average overall and his Mokuton isn't treated like a big deal at all but it's the best of the few I've read. Sadly.

This is the only DBZ fic I've read to completion; I can't seem to get into fics with the usual main characters. It's set hundreds of years after canon, with the main character being a descendant of Goku and Vegeta. Some spelling/grammar issues and the beginning wasn't too good, but I thought it got better quickly. With everyone starting back down at more reasonable power levels, it captured the fun parts of the series and added deeper characters and character interactions.

Secret Treasures of the Uchiha by TimeLoopedPowerGamer

An AU story from the moment Sasuke decides not to get up again in his first encounter with Itachi, after the Chūnin Exam finals and invasion. Instead of spending a couple of months in a coma while Naruto is off finding Tsunade, he explores the abandoned Uchiha compound, finds a hidden storehouse, and gets dragged kicking and screaming by Hiashi Hyūga into clan politics and an arranged marriage.

An entertaining enough Sasuke story. Basically to get stronger he starts training with/mentoring Hinata because his team is gone, down, and useless and ends up betrothed to her. Seems like there's a chance it may nosedive and go harem but I highly doubt it because Sasuke goes on and on about how pathetic most girls his age are.

It's one of the stronger interpretations of the sharingan I've seen but isn't really that bothersome to me. He's also somewhat overpowered but not to crazy levels. What does tend to bother me is Hinata. She sometimes seems so unable to think from other people's perspective that she seems retarded. Sakura is also kind of annoying but I kind of expect that. Naruto hasn't had a large a part in the story so far.

Anyway I found it to be a decent way to pass some time.

Finally got to reading Wabi Sabi, and I have to agree. It is batshit insane, and I have no idea how he came up with this concept at all, but it somehow works.

Ikki becomes the typical gabriel_blessing protagonist. Nothing like his canon self, and nothing like Furuya (from Sankarea) either. I can see GB tried to maintain Ikki's self with the odd perverted comment, but like all other GB fics, he takes on that cold, calculating and slightly apathetic demeanor in his fights.

Still as a (very very long) one shot, it was fun. The wordiness was kinda required because he had to describe a lot of events. The ending was pretty lame as well (with the exception of Rika's confrontation with him). Ikki was completely overpowered (not just with his fighting, but with his intellect as well). Did like his interactions with people through most of it - Agito's reactions in particular, were hilarious.

I very much enjoyed it, but also would not say it was library material.

EDIT: On the topic of weird crossovers, I'm reading this Love Hina/Fate Stay Night crossover.

    Promises of a Wandering Hero
    Author: Neoalfa
He promised to be a Hero capable of saving everyone. But before that he made other promises he can't remember under a different name. How will Shirou react when he finds his lost past? - Shirou/Multi Mature Contents.

It sounds kind of silly as a concept, but I'm finding it quite fun. The last arc (3 chapters) are what made me post it here. It's actually done really well. Hopefully will maintain this level.

I've personally have never read a chapter of Love Hina, but I can enjoy this story without a problem. It's really well written, and by the same author of Path of the King

I agree. There was a definite improvement in the story and there's still some to go before the arc is finished. Though updates are slow, the quality is worth it.

Just gonna point out, if you've read and liked Love Hina for what it is may prevent you from enjoying Promises of a Wandering Hero. Can't say for sure one way or the other but more often than not I find that the people who enjoy it don't know the source material all that well.

I know I liked it but, as I pointed out, I'm one of those who hasn't read Love Hina.

I liked it too, but I'm one of those people who can't stand Love Hina.
