What does old spice smell like? I only ask because its one of those descriptive terms that's usually used that I never got.

If it's in a story that's more than a few years ago, like old men who have used the exact same bland cologne every day for the last fifty years.

They've done an absolutely amazing job of freshening up their image over the last few years, so any fairly recent references are likely to be to the commercials mentioned above instead.

[e] If you go back a bit further, Old Spice smells like your father. Wearing it as a young man was either a failed attempt at appearing to be an adult, or a sign that one valued being seen as an adult more than being cool. Authors who have Harry doing this have clearly not thought it through very well, as he doesn't have anyone even vaguely along the lines of a respected Old Spice-wearing father-figure in his life. It was also a thing that had mostly died off by the time period HP is set in.

Does canon Hermione actually admonish everyone around her for swearing, or is this just an annoying fanon convention?

Err, haven't you read the books or did you just forget? I think the concept is purely fanon.

Rache, this isn't a "question why people are asking questions" thread, so shut it. In fact, take that policy to shut it and spread it to every other thread you infest while you're at it.

Agravaine, it happened like all of once, with Hermione stopping Ron from finishing the phrase, "Merlin's saggy left -", maybe in DH. Even if I'm wrong about that specific example, know that it's mostly a one-or-two-time canon thing turned full-blown fanon thing, like Gred and Forge.

Thanks! I've always seen this one around a lot, and it's awful. Glad it's not canon.

What's the extension of the spell 'Reparo' with muggle things? For example, if my car has a malfunction could I possibly 'reparo' it?

In theory I'd say yes, but individual wizards will have differing levels of skill with the spell. Some might not be able to manage something that complicated.

As evidence I'd point to horcruxes. We're told to destroy one you need to "put it beyond magical repair”. This can only be done by extreme magical methods like Fiendfyre and Basilisk venom.

Arthur Weasley repaired the Dursleys' electrical fire in GoF.

I think the Reparo thing is intent. Like if you have enough power and intent to fix the car you will, if not you'll just fix the cracked window. Also, I remember in the 6th movie Dumbledore like repairs a whole living room set. Again, that's just the movie but it's more canon than some of the ideas we have.

How exactly did Voldemort fly unaided in Deathly Hallows?

Is it a spell or was he just channeling his magic to lift himself into the air? Is there any canonical explanation or are the explanations a pure fanon concept?

It's his passive ability known as Dark Lord's Might, granting him bonus movement speed and magic resistance. It synergizes well with is ultimate while using Wand of the Malfoy, which grants him bonus bonus gold per ten seconds.

I think it'll have something to do with his Horcruxes fragmenting the essence of his being to the point that he was something like a wraith or a ghost, and therefore able to fly.

I think even Snape flew in the chapter where McGonagall duels him in the great hall. So, the wraith theory is found lacking.

And @Snorkack, your attempted joke didn't even elicit even a half smile.

    Aww '^'

But @Afrojack, Snape was able to fly and he didn't have any horcruxes

Clearly a spell and since 'Love is the best powah ever' the good guys don't do it because they don't want to.
