Am I the only one whose annoyed with whole,"...clever boy" thing? He's what a nine hundred plus years old now and it just sounds bleh. It isn't witty at all and it seems she'll be saying that all the time

I don't mind. Just the new Catchphrase of the Week.

    "Wibbly Wobbly, Timey Wimey."
    "Spoilers."
    "____ are cool."
    "Come along, Pond."
    etc etc

He wont let either of us watch it unfortunately, and believe me we've asked. He's not above dangling cryptic titbits to torture us though.

Why does he need the entire DVD to make a poster? Can't they just show him the big monsters/points?

I've never actually asked. I think he uses screenshots, he's done work for them before so maybe hes just earned enough brownie points to be trusted with them.

Saw it coming, right from the very start. Still a nice little sketch.

    New episode kinda sucked.

Magical computer powers being uploaded into Clara's brain as a mere afterthought made me facepalm so hard.

I thought it was decent. Nothing new, nothing special.

I really wanted something new and special to lift the "don't give a fuck about doctor who" attitude I have at the moment.

    It didn't do that.

The monk piece of this ep was the most enjoyable.

    "It's a woman."

    I agree, it was pretty lacklustre in terms of a return though I liked some of the hints and comments dropped here & there;

    Which chapter are you on?
    Ten
    You'll cry loads at eleven...

That & my friend claims he saw the 4th Doctor's scarf in the hallway; I haven't re-watched the episode myself but it wouldn't surprise me.

I thought it was a pretty solid if unspectacular episode. It did its main job - (re)introduce Clara - pretty well, and I'm feeling a fair bit happier about her being the companion than I was after her first appearance. Matt Smith was great, as ever, and I liked Celia Imrie as the villain (Miss Kizlet?).

That said, you could tick off the boxes throughout the episode.

Creepy catchphrase? Check (I don't know where I am!). Making something normal scary? Check. Uncanny valley monsters? Check (Compare the Spoonheads with the Clockwork robots from The Girl in the Fireplace, or the Smilers from The Beast Below - they even had the same revolving head to reveal something scary schtick - or even the Weeping Angels). Timey-wimey weirdness. Well, it's Doctor Who, so yeah, but the phonecall across timezones was particularly reminiscient of many of Moffat's previous episodes - River Song's messages, the whole of A Christmas Carol, just off the top of my head.

It really emphasised to me that, new companion and whatnot aside, it was Doctor Who by the numbers. I didn't think it was bad, just...I probably won't remember much about it by the time I've watched the next one.
