I enjoyed it a fair bit until the conclusion of the Apachai and Kenichi's fight against those Muay Thai. I didn't find it as interesting after that and I think I just read it for the sake of it now. That might also be around the time when the art style seemed to change and girls felt more like fleshy blobs. They need sturdier clothing too.

 

I read Kenichi as a time filler, mostly. Honestly, even as I read into the 100th chapter I wasn't really enjoying it. Occasionally it was fun, but mostly it was beyond trite. Definitely got worse as the cast of characters became ridiculously large too. There's definitely better stuff out there, that's for sure.

In which Koon acknowledges what I've been saying here (Wangnan's team is weak and terrible without Baam and Horyang). Looks like the tournament is kicking off next chapter. For all his rage, I think Leesoo is about to run headfirst into a wall here.

This caught me totally by surprise, didn't even know there was another chapter released in Japan. Wasn't expecting to see another update until April.

 

So are they twins or..?

 

It's unclear. Hijiri and Arin are physically identical, so we can assume that they share some kind of connection. My pet theory is that the original Hijiri was split into two different people when she was consumed by Arata's Breakdown Phenomenon and sent through time and space (hopefully something less cliche than a 'light' half and a 'dark' half, but that's the general idea). The one thing I can guess though is that shit is about to get real next chapter. Arin probably just hit Hijiri's berserk button by referring to herself as Arata's wife.

 

Kenichi is not really that bad of a manga, at least it has a lot of potential. I agree it isn't that good, and most of the flaws can be attributed to the manga setting the bar for himself so high at times, what with the need to be crazy epic and not really succeeding but also, to its not that impressive main character. He is not Shirou or Naruto bad, where I dislike him, but I have to admit, I like nearly all of the side characters more and would have preferred following either one. (Especially his "I won't fight/hurt girls attitude really got on my nerves, seeing that nearly all of the important females are as good/better fighters as he is.)

It's just, it created a cast that is more interesting and fun than the main character and that makes it tedious when they are dropped for large amounts of time.

And, of course, the fanservice is really offputting. It borders on To Love Ru level and is so in your face that it is insulting to everyone involved. All the T&A shots and how every time girls fight their clothes gets so torn they barely cover the nipples just takes all the fun out of the fight and makes it pretty much porn and if I wanted to watch/read porn, I would do so, don't want that mixed in my shonen battle manga. I find it sad that it sells really, really well, especially since it would be a better manga if it dropped all that. Same with Fairy Tail, although, that one isn't quite as bad.

Still, am going to follow this for a while, unless they do something really stupid, am still enjoying this. Just hope there is going to be some more episodes with Shigure and Kenichi, since I feel that those two are the master student combination that would benefit the most from each other but is shown the least because Kenichi himself is such a huge wussbag.

 

This, of course, is an immediate 'no' to me also. If I don't like the main character I generally cannot enjoy the series.

 

I've tried Kenichi, but it's just kind of exhausting. I made it to about chapter 230 before I couldn't take any more. I don't mind anything in particular, except that it's got such formulaic conflict. Bad guy appears, beats Kenichi. Enter training from hell, defeat/befriend bad guy. Big team of bad guys appear, beats Kenichi. Rinse, repeat. I guess it was fine before the ridiculous combat really started taking away from it, for me (and also who wears half a pair of pants?).

New Trace 1.5 update too, I like the direction it's heading in. But my biggest question is what the beggar group knows/is doing about the impersonator who is murdering people in their name, rather than wondering whether Sarang will survive or whatever.

Pretty bad ass baby beel chapter....I was just wondering if Oga still has the side effect of switching bodies even after he learned the tech arts.

 

He's used Super Milk Time on several occasions since then and hasn't had problems, so I doubt it will be an issue. Also, Kanzaki's face on that last page was the best part of the entire chapter.

The series is many times more awesome than something about cooking has any damn right to be.

Uneventful chapter overall, but the ending leaves some interesting possibilities.

Hrm, so the drawback to Super Milk Time is still a thing after all. I would have imagined that Oga would have worked around that weakness by now, especially since he had no issues the last time he used it.

 

How much did he drink this time? I don't he went that far during the Demon Academy battle (maybe)

And that chapter took an odd direction at the end. I don't expect Beel's gonna be that effected...and neither would Oga for that matter.
