I loved his views on cell phone usage in the theater. The fact that he cared enough to stop the production to kick the offender out was a trait I admired greatly.

He was a great Vernon Dursley.

"Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe pays tribute to Richard Griffiths: 'Any room he walked into was made twice as funny and twice as clever""

He should win a posthumous award for coming up with the best facial expression in all seven movies.

A great loss. One of those actors who improved pretty much everything he was in.

    Damn, this sucks.

Apparently due to complications of heart surgery.

I feel like he almost single handily sold the Dursley family. I haven't seen his other films but he was phenomenal is Harry Potter.

I thought Fiona Shaw as Petunia was pitch perfect too.

Sad to hear this. He did a great job with the part.

I never liked him as Vernon (I didn't like most of the portrayals of any character in the movies tbh - Rickman, Harris and maybe Smith were the only ones I felt did their characters any justice (of the established crowd)), but it's always a shame.

The guy was great. I saw a bunch of his interviews about Harry Potter on TV over the years and I thought he seemed like a really nice, genuine person. He portrayed a complex bully who was in equal parts fearful of magic and hateful of it very well. Griffiths and Fiona Shaw were fantastic right from the start, in roles that could have been overshadowed by all the magic. Sad to see him gone.
