I'm only on 15.7 at the moment, but I'm reading quickly. So I'm not fully aware of everything yet, but I've had an idea for a Worm RPG. I want to build it, but I'm going to need help. If anyone's interested in lending a hand (even if it's just helping out with classifying characters/powers) send me a PM and we'll start working on stuff. I'll almost certainly be caught up on everything by next weekend so that shouldn't be a problem for long.

This world has too much awesome to not have its own rpg.

 

That sounds like an awesome project. If I recall correctly, someone in the comments had a similar idea. I'm not sure how far it got, though, or if it's still ongoing. Let me try and dig up a link.

 

Wouldn't mind helping out, there. Lots of free time at the moment, and I've gone through the story twice, now.

 

This update makes me think Skitter is due for an upgrade in the near future. Not necessarily a second trigger, just some kind of boost. Her secret identity is out, her mascot/transportation is crapping out, she's losing street cred, PRT thinks they can blackmail her, bad news from Dinah...better be a hell of a ballast that lands/she pulls into her lap.

 

A Worm RPG was the first thing that popped into my head as well Aek. Then I got busy and forgot all about it.

It's great to see her getting back on track. I was kinda worried that she was going to go into a self-destructive spiral...but she's too self-aware for that. And she does have a support structure in Tattletale, Grue. Very different from the loner she was before.

Also, we finally get to meet her mother. I get the sense that when she was in highschool and bullied, she used to visit her mother's grave a lot, and that was who she talked to--not her dad, but her mom. And the chapter highlighted one of her most admirable traits: she doesn't try to justify her actions, she simply moves forward and continues to do the best she can do at the time.

Next chapter, reactions from her territory?

 

Yeah, it was nice to see her recognizing the fact that she was channeling her guilt and attempting to 'atone' for her actions through rescuing Dinah, in hindsight. Half the fun of Skitter is that she isn't pretentious and her introspection frequently yields accurate results; the other half, of course, is cutting nigh-immortal abominations in half.

 

Ok, so I finally finished this story. It was fucking fantastic. 5/5

Honestly, it's one of the best things I've ever read, and i can't thank the OP enough for bringing this to my attention.

I think, that I am going to just turn around, and reread the whole damn thing. As Lord Anarchy said somewhere, you must miss so much the first time around. Also, reading it again, with all the knowledge of what happens, is bound to bring even more things into light.

As noted by others, fucking tuesday can't come quickly enough. In fact, a better way to put it is, it's already tuesday here, and I don't have a new chapter.

Also, what time zone does Wildbow go by? Either I have 2 hours to wait, or 5 hours to wait. Please tell me that he lives on the east coast.

Another question, does anyone know what kind of readership numbers Wildbow gets? I feel like this story deserves far more renown than it currently has. I'll definitely be directing this to my mother, who works at a library in New Zealand, I've got no doubt that she'll help spread the word, after she finishes it.

Also, if I were Skitter I would have gouged his eyeballs out. Dude has a seriously scary power the way it was described, and, oh yeah, is part of a doomsday cult. I wouldn't have left it in anyone else's hands.

Yeah, I know they were going for attention, but seriously... Walk around in plainclothes, switch up your disguises every now and then, and just spend the week making suicide bombers. Congratulations, there goes the city. Why would he even be within a mile of a fight?

 

That's probably my biggest issue with this fic so far; Wildbow is incredibly creative with Skitter, but everyone else tends to be kind of bland in the way they use their powers. Someone capable of making sleeper agents that easily shouldn't even be known, much less have their powerset broken down by others.

 

I'm trying to draw Skitter as a way of getting used to my tablet but I'm having trouble visualizing her mask. I know it has yellow goggles and is open at the back. Anything else?

Initial costume

Trying to recall exactly when she'd done edits to the costume. I know she cannibalised some of the other's new costumes after Mannequin, where she added a skirt of some sort, and she handed out their costumes in 15.1 or 15.2, but beyond that I'm not entirely certain.
