    I'd just like to say thanks for the resources. I'm currently working on a AU of most the series. I'm doing it slightly piecemeal at the moment until I develop the earlier bits more realistically I'm currently working on fourth year and I find these links helpful.

    I've been to this resource a few times now, and I keep more nuggets of gold.

    Here's the latest. It might be minor, but for some reason it really stuck out for me. http://writetodone.com/2012/08/06/usebrain-science-to-hook-readers-and-reel-them-in/

    In short, a study of the brain isolates that (1) curiosity, (2) emotive or logical writing, (3) but staying logical in cause and effect, and (4) having some kind of goals that both the MC and readers know quickly in the beginning is what will hook a reader into a story. (Among a few others, these are the big four I took from it).

    Makes sense, and really is pretty basic, but it was still nice to see it plainly said.

    I've been listening to Writing Excuses on the drive to/from work every day. A lot of it is stuff I've gotten from other places (mostly books about writing) but it's... pretty good. They joke around some but mostly stay on topic.

    I've been going in order but it seems primarily standalone if you want to skip around. Each is approximately 15 minutes long. I think it was Silens' recommendation that got me to start listening to them, though I'd heard of them before that.

    Honestly I was expecting this to mostly be a circle-jerk-y ironic thread. People actually get inspired by or believe in these sorts of protips to writing? I listened to a podcast etc. for a bit, but it turned out I was just procrastinating from actually writing, so I dropped them. Same as TvTropes really.
