The biggest issue was, anyone who actually killed Butcher inherited all of her previous powers etc. No one could kill her without fucking themselves over completely.

That was why Cherish was the only real option. Note how they made sure Citrine didn't use her power on Butcher, in case she accidentally killed her.

I can't see there really being another option.

Also, Saturday is too far away. I think that was probably the end of the arc though, so it's going to be an interlude next.

 

Looking back on the pace with which Skitter is moving here to tie up all the loose ends, the break-up with Brian and her conversation with him about what would happen if she died, and now this convo with Bitch, I'm beginning to get the feeling that maybe Skitter has taken to heart Dinah's message to cut ties and isn't going to stop with just her father (which she didn't actually do).

I'm thinking we might be seeing a big change for Skitter coming up soon.

 

Hmm, that's a good point actually. I hadn't connected those dots until just now.

Question is, where would she go? Where could she go? Either the Protectorate, or the alternate earth IMO.

 

Yeah, no kidding.

I mean if we really stop to think for a minute, the other Undersiders have been less and less visible since the city was divided up. It really does feel like they're drifting away. Now Skitter's just accelerating the process.

I'm thinking that this is Skitter's plan to sink the PRT. Create a media circus over her trial and force the heroes to choose between the truth and the PRT lie. If they do manage to sweep it under the rug (highly doubtful given her popularity in BB and the nature of her arrest), there's always Madcap or D&D to break her out on route.

Probably gonna be a rough time for Skitter coming up and on her own, but now the heat is off of the Undersiders to a large degree.

 

Blown away by this arc. I am constantly amazed by the depth of the character growth wildbow writes for Skitter.

This is her leap of faith, and I'm left wondering what will come next. It really all hinges on the PRT (and I suspect public) response. Does anyone else find the amount of trust Skitter has in Dinah, in Miss Militia (and by extension the Protectorate) kind of amazing?


The only new thing I caught in the Tattletale beautiful-mind section were the "stoppers," which are "power immune capes, precogs, situ change Thinkers." Does anyone have a guess for the last?

@Howdy: I doubt Madcap, aka Assault will help Skitter, as he directly blames her for Battery's death.

 

I'm not so sure that a trial will give Skitter a public platform from which to preach. Look at what the prosecutors did to Canary during her trial, and she wasn't a villain, wasn't a public enemy, and didn't seem to have anyone with an agenda against her [apart from the prosecution wanting to make an example, perhaps].

I assume this is Skitter's ticket to the Birdcage. She's already admitted to crimes on camera.

 

To be fair, Canary had powers that triggered off her voice. Hence the getup. I can see this also being somewhat of a redemption arc for Dragon/Armsmaster as well. I'm giddy for Saturday

 

Canary didn't have a literal army of heroes whose lived she helped save who are now fully aware of how corrupt their bureaucratic masters are. Again, she's making the heroes choose a side.

Skitter has said more than once this arc that this is her plan to remove the PRT as a threat.

 

Wildbow has stated the next 1 or 2 chapters will be interludes. Just to let you guys know.

 

But she also stated that she would leave PRT in a condition to fight the next EndBringer. A publicized trial like that would destroy all the governmental and organizational support they have.

 

I thought she was referring to the threat they posed to the Undersiders in general. And, her surrendering kind of does that.

 

What makes you think she'll get a trial? Perhaps they'll just give her a show trial then execute her instead of sending her to the birdcage? You know, to prevent her being broken out.

 

She doesn't have a kill order, and I don't think she's THAT hated.

 

Yes, but Tagg views this as a war. In a war you kill your enemy, you don't arrest them.

 

However much he views it as a war, if he did that, it'd be the end of the PRT.

Emphasis mine. That's on top of the numerous security camera feeds that Dragon has access to. If she didn't have a trial just because a city director said so, and instead had a summary execution, the political fallout with destroy the PRT even faster than the outing of the Cauldron.

Needless to say, Tagg doesn't have the final word in this matter.

 

I'm pretty sure Madcap went straight in Battery's interlude. He became assault and he married Battery.

 

Yes, he did. Though, I read through their mentions and couldn't find anything of the sort, but I remember reading in comments that they got married.

 

They were involved, not sure it ever said they were married. And I'm fully aware of his story, I was referencing the fact that he was a villain who made a living breaking people out of custody on the way to the Birdcage.
