It takes a special kind of asshole to not only mass-plagiarize, but then retaliate with bad reviews when they've been caught in the act, rather than deleting the stories and running away with their tail between their legs, like any human with an ounce of shame should. :facepalm

That Explodra jerk-off I reported in the Whistleblower thread a little while back, apparently noticed my shaming reviews pointing out his theft while he was in the act of posting more stories, and quickly deleted everything. I know this because, in addition to making abuse reports on the individual stories, I directly emailed support@fanfiction.com to report him, and the reply I received stated that he had already removed the stories by the time they took action.

I'll admit that, while I've had depressingly lackluster results using the site's built-in abuse reporting system, the site's staff acted very quickly when I e-mailed them directly.

For anyone worried about a plagiarist retaliating against them in a way that endangers their account/reviews, I would counsel them to directly e-mail FFN's staff (Make sure you put [abuse] at the start of the subject line). For that matter, in these cases where one person is stealing multiple stories, it's way easier to simply send one e-mail listing all of the infractions, rather than the tedious task of sending a dozen abuse reports one at a time.

I don't know whether to be insulted or gratified that nobody bothers trying to steal my shit.

You know... I understand scholarly plagiarism. I don't condone it, but I understand it. People do it to get ahead, make their life easier, reduce their workload, avoid poor grades, etc etc.

But plagiarism like this... plagiarism of a fictional work... I just don't get it.

    My question for this dude:

What was the point? If someone praises something for which you can't actually take credit, does it... I dunno... make you feel good?

If so... well... that's kinda fucked up. See a therapist, bro.

In the past hour, this twat has changed their name to "Ron Weasley True Hero", and now to "loveyouRon"...

    What an ignorant, fucking, troll.

I wonder if they'll give it up and delete the stories, delete their entire account, or simply make another account and do it all over again.

I wonder if he thinks that people won't be able to find him if he changes his name? Sounds like the fucked up kind of logic an idiot plagiarist like this guy would use.

Edit: On second thought, yes, that word would work better. Thanks~

I think the word you're looking for is 'logic', but yeah, I agree. I mean, you gotta figure that anyone dumb enough to copy an entire story, word for word, right down to the summary and title, and think they can get away with it, is just as likely to change their username while thinking, "They'll never find me, now!" despite their user ID number never changing.

I've been refreshing the review pages and noticed that some of the anonymous claims of plagiarism have been 'mysteriously' vanishing.

I may not agree with the plagiarism, but I do agree with the new usernames. RON WEASLEY: TRUE HERO FOR LIFE.

Somebody else published LDR's Last Resort story as his own lately and FF didn't react at all after sending an abuse.

I'm fairly sure that as far as abuse reports go, it's quantity over quality at ff.net. One perfectly crafted abuse report with all of the supporting evidence carefully included, will get you a reaction of... nothing. On the other hand, one hundred basic abuse reports, no matter their content, will get a story pulled.

At least that's how I understand it. It's not surprising either. As if mods want to spend all of their time verifying the nitty gritty details of each abuse report, and separating the real reports from nuisance reports. They may as well work by the old adage, "where there's smoke, there's fire," and do their best to keep on top of the situation without succumbing to madness.

Eh, I'd like to see him try and post anything from Albus P Homes. Too many comments and pages between his updates... so he might actually be doing me a favour...

It takes someone who's really such a low-life cunt to jack someone's work and post it. What do you get from it besides reviews from people who actually prefer Harry/Draco/Crabbe threesomes? Fucking stupidity.

But if that bloke copies my story and gets more reviews for it, I'll at least know who has the better formatting, because I always doubt mine. :)

And who wrote Horcruxes? I remember it from somewhere. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/9240127/1/Horcruxes

And wasn't Unfinished business Syao's fic?

    Yes.

It seems I was too charitable with FFN's staff. I e-mailed them with a list of the stories I knew for a fact were stolen, because I could point out the originals and to whom they belonged, and linked to the ones still available online... but the asshole is still there with his account and stolen stories intact.

    Son, I am disappoint.

Or no matter how unjustified. I could easily see some asshole organizing his asshole friends into abuse-reporting a story to death, simply out of spite.

    Totally agreed.

Earlier, I saw that he had copied Calz's "Gazebo" fic, which was somethin' awesome! Thought that one should get more reviews. :D

But it seems that people on ff.net are starting to notice, too. Apparently, someone was doing this a month before this author and that had been reported and the story had been pulled. So, with the reported abuse by DLP members, coupled with the now-aware ff.net readers, this motherfucker's goose should have been cooked a long time ago.

Maybe you should check fictionpress to see if he's copying from the original WBA, too? Might be tedious and pointless, but it's good to nip this in the bud. Just a thought

    Reported.

This was obviously plagiarized from the Do you think Harry ever became as skilled as Dumbledore and Voldemort? thread.

Reported all stories that were cross-listed as plagiarized (checked for accusations of plagiarism in the comments :fire)

As for commenting, I prefer the passive-aggressive approach.
