It is interesting and it was certainly brave of the author to use an all OC team, although, while the characters are likable, with the exception of the main character, they aren't that interesting. Certainly not interesting enough to replace canon characters. For now, don't think it meets the library standards but given time and some improvement, could make it there. 3/5 for now.

One of the teammates, Shiho, was the code breaker involved with Jiraiya's message. The same is true of others within the story though not all.

Wow, couldn't remember that character at all. Well, still, such minor characters that they might as well be OC's.

I know she at least has a personality trope established and has about as many scenes as Mikoto, so there is that.

When Captain Rael'Zorah decides to check out strange activity at Relay 314 due to a slight shift in the path of the Migrant Fleet, he finds more then just turians. Hannah Shepard becomes one of the first humans to ever meet an alien, and first contact for humanity begins not with a war, but with gifts for a young John Shepard and Tali'Zorah. AU First contact, human/quarian.

It is about how humanity starts in a different way.

    Another one!

Somewhat serious review. Quarians and Humans meet before the Turians start causing issues. This makes an Alliance form and, well it is good. I know it is overplayed as an event but I like how everything feels natural to what should and could happen.

I found that a while ago and tried to read it, but stopped halfway through the first chapter. The writing is decent mechanically, but I can't get over the fact that the opening premise involves a military woman bringing her toddler along on a patrol cruise. It's so many different flavors of wrong that I just couldn't read further.

Is it worth powering through the silliness of the opening?

Nope. The characterization of the Turians is even worse.

I still enjoy it a fair deal. I know it is not amazing, or I would do the library. Almost recommended and whatnot.

Ned Stark Lives! 2 is still great, and still worthy of the Library.

God I want Cersei to die SO BADLY.

It certainly has bounced back quite strongly from how terrible was becoming towards the end of Ned Stark Lives 1 (probably because the whole Arya/Gendry thing no longer gets so much focus). At times it almost feels like I'm reading a more uplifting and positive version of The North Remembers - particularly with more variety in POV compared to the first one. A high update rate is good as well.

I'd still say it's 3.5/5 at best though and not Library material.

It's one of the most frustrating stories that I have read.

At the same time, it's something that captured my attention so much, that actually reread it twice in a row. My first read being in the middle of the night looked betted, but the second reread still brought pleasure.

It has annoying set of ideas as a base, yet, they develop as they should - believingly. It flows well, and Belari - it works, it kind of resonates, and carries the tune forward.

Yet, it constantly wakes you up - the declaration Udina does at the Citadel... It is something that shouldn't have been posted in the chapters.

Got reminded of the Second Contact a lot - in diplomacy, at least.

    Also, as the
    war with turians ends
it starts to get boring, and probably only Urdnot Wrex has me reading.

    The Quarian piligrims
falling for simple humanity propaganda and taking over the diplomacy ship together with humans
was handled well, and I find it very flattening in terms of how Humanity and Quarians find their similarities and click so easily.

It's something of an wish-fulfillment - of perfect first contact, good relations, and the first contact being a way of bringing people together and proving that humanity as a whole is not a bag of dicks.

At the same time, it handles the struggles rather reasonably - the opposition is there, clear and simple - and the weirdly named Independent League don't have it too easy for them.

I am waiting for the war with Geth, that just must follow at some point. I have high hopes for that.

Also, I don't think that Turians are as much of an assholes as they are represented here.

All in all, something that probably is closer to 3 than 5, yet at times, it managed to be both. Thus, probably 4/5.

It's not even that they're assholes. It's that they're immature. Childish, even. Where's the military discipline? Where's the might of the Citadel Fleet? Instead of being circumstantial villains like they were in canon, the Turians here are painted as overly antagonistic and petulant for the sake of someone - anyone - being overly antagonistic and petulant.

I like this fic for the most part, but holy damn, the Turians are poorly written. I'd say it's either a 2.5/5 or a 3/5.

Might not be the place, but has anyone read any good Iron Man centric stories?

It was a freak accident. A series of events joined together to achieve the impossible. Now Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke are living their lives over and over again, with no end in sight. So they decided, be it a blessing or a curse, to make the most of the situation they find themselves in. They will live by their own rules and do whatever they want to do. This is their story.

Pretty sweet time travel fic. Has tons of words for the amount of chapters, and each chapter features a different 'loop'. The third one is very eh, and grammar slips up every now and again throughout, but I'm enjoying it so far. I'd probably give it a 3.5/5 right now, if only because of that third loop.

Personally, I hated its portrayal of Orochimaru. Some aspects, like him sneakily paying his respects at Jiraiya's shrine, work out okay. Others don't. For example, the story has him apologizing.

That really doesn't sound like something Orochimaru would say. Maybe as snarky banter when he's launching an attack on someone, but not really otherwise. That entire portion messes up Orochimaru, trying too hard to make him normal. The point is supposed to be (I think) that they've been around so long that they have basically made friends with everyone else at one point or another - but Orochimaru isn't just some other guy. This is someone who performed horrific genetic experiments on sixty children, and the attempt to humanise him just falls flat. Honestly, I would have liked the arc if it displayed the trio getting close to Orochimaru, and even showed a less serious side of him, if it retained his basic character. This way, he feels like a (marginally) harsher Jiraiya rather than Orochimaru.

I got about halfway through Chapter Five before I gave up. The loops give them knowledge, I get it, but this is honestly overpowered. While they make a good point regarding their abilities against S Ranks like Tobi, they then end up completely schooling the undead Kage. Reload did this quite well - both Naruto and Sasuke were fairly overpowered in there, but Tsunade still handed Naruto's ass to him. It keeps the story interesting, and adds a new dimension to otherwise stale characters, like Kakashi and Sarutobi ended up being in the fourth chapter.
