What are your favourite scenes from canon?

    Mine would be:

    Malfoy, the Amazing Bouncing Ferret
    Sky Battle in DH
Harry cutting Malfoy up in HBP (too bad he didn't die)
Voldemort vs Dumbledore epic duel in the Atrium
Neville standing up to Voldemort and then killing Nagini
Voldemort vs Harry in the Graveyard
Harry using the Cruciatus on Bellatrix

There are more. What are yours?

It might not be the best scene, but the scene that always comes to mind when someone asks a question like this is:
The scene at the end of PS/SS when Harry (and the reader) realizes that it's not Snape after all, it's Quirrell.
Why? Because that's the scene that made me sit up and take notice. All the way until that scene I'd been reading and thinking to myself something along the lines of... "Yeah, this is pretty good for a kids book. Fairly formulaic, and the ending is obvious, but not bad I guess."

But the twist ending was great. It made sense in context, caught me by surprise (given my expectations of children's literature), and made me pick up the second book.

    Edit: Also this...
Harry Potter: He accused me of being Dumbledore's man through and through.
Albus Dumbledore : How very rude of him.
Harry Potter : I told him I was.
Albus Dumbledore : I am very touched, Harry.

Yeah but considering the shit storm that comes from necroingaround here, the hundreds of new members we have who might like to share why they love Harry Potter on a Harry Potter website, maybe, just maybe, we let a relivant topic in the correct forum go.

What's wrong with bringing up a topic again so other members can talk about it?

My favourite: Remus going over to help Sirius in PoA and being WTF?!?!?

Was I complaining? I just gave an answer while making it known that we already have a similar thread. Not that anyone complains about relevant necros outside the WbA section. ;)

Oh yes, that gave me some good feels.

    Edit: Have another on me:

Dolores Umbridge: Please, tell them I mean no harm.
Harry Potter: Sorry, Professor, but I must not tell lies.

Quirrell's reveal at the end of PS.
Tom's reveal at the end of CoS.
    Voldemort's return in GoF.
Voldemort's and Dumbledore's duel in OotP.
Memories about Tom Riddle in HBP.

So, can you guess what my favorite character is? That's right, Luna Lovegood.

Ugh Luna. JKR seems to have just gone "I need a sad loner who is w31rd and RandoM" and inserted a slightly less retarded P3ngu1n of D00M. I like Luna sometimes but the fans have done her poorly so many times and she was never that great.

    Most Snape scenes
The Acromantula Funeral is one of my favorite scenes
Harry Potter "Fuck The Odds" (Not canon but fuck it, WoT is amazing as shit
Dumbledore/Grindelwald stuff is actually awesome (the stuff hinted in the books that is)
    Grindelwald's death.

Make no mistake, Fanon Luna is the most terrible thing ever, but canon Luna is kewl.

I always interpreted her weird behavior as a coping mechanism after seeing her mother die. Might be bullshit, but it's an explanation.

When I first read that scene at the end of OotP where Luna makes Harry feel better after Sirius' death, I totally predicted that something more would develop between them. I have been so foolish.

That's what I don't like. if I thought she was strange just because it's her nature I'd like her more. But instead it's because she's bullied, or her mom died, so she's just a sad girl who can't cope in a healthy way with a bad experience.

That sucks, and it's dumb as shit.

Yeah, but then JKR would have to write some sort of development of romance... lol

Yeah, I said it might be bullshit, so yeah.

But saying that it's 'in her nature' is a little unsatisfying for me.

I liked the bit where Harry stuck his cock in Voldemort's eye socket, after the final battle.

From the movie of the half-blood prince, the scene where Dumbledore saves Harry from the Inferi. It shows the raw, controlled power of Dumbledore (even when he was severely weakened) in a way that wasn't even shown in his fight against Voldemort the previous year.

Harry using crucio for the first time. Why? because even though he's seen what it's done to people - frank/alice etc - he still used it in anger, it shows that hes flawed, unlike most heroes in childrens books.

    I hated that scene.

Either 1) - Crucio doesn't work with "righteous anger." Harry's didn't work because of this. Therefor he isn't flawed, because his anger is by definition righteous.

or 2) That Crucio should of fucking worked cuz anger is anger. It might be just me, but nothing would piss me off more than killing my family. That Crucio should of fried that bitch, especially considering how much emotion affects Harry.

I think it is the first one. I think it still shows that he is flawed since he let his emotions completely take over him. Is this realistic? Maybe, but that doesn't stop it from meaning that he is flawed.

Besides, he still wanted to hurt her even if it was, in some twisted way, justice. What he wanted, and tried his hardest, to do was still wrong.

    Yeah, Bellatrix lied.

Harry uses the Cruciatus in DH, fueled with righteous anger at someone spitting at McGonagall.

He couldn't use it properly then either. "Amycus was thrown into the air and knocked unconscious" which shows that he didn't actually inflict (much) pain which is the purpose of the spell.

Does Sectumsempra need wand movement? I've read many fics where Harry makes slashing movements.

Several scenes have been mentioned, but the Dumbledore moments are my top favorites:

The first chapter of DH - it hinted at so much goodness to come, which is why the rest of the book was such a let down.

Dumbledore pwning Fudge is epic. There is also an epic scene when Snape comes begging to Dumbledore.
