Brief synopsis:

Fifteen-year-old Will Drake has made a career of breaking out from high-security prisons. His talents have landed him at The Rig, a specialist juvenile holding facility in the middle of the Arctic Ocean. No one can escape from The Rig. No one except for Drake...

After making some escape plans and meeting the first real friends of his life, Drake quickly realises that all is not as it seems on The Rig. Drake, Tristan and Irene are banking on a bid for freedom - but can they survive long enough to make it?

Drake is an action hero to rival Jason Bourne and the CHERUB team in this debut author's fantastically imagined nightmare.

This one kind of steps up the game for me, as not only have I broken into traditional publishing well and truly, The Rig won the Guardian and Hot Key Books Young Writer's Prize at the London Book Fair.

Release date is September 5, just three short months away, so I'm going to try and start to build a little traction. If anyone's on Goodreads and wants to add the book to their read list, that'd be useful.

As a Canadian I just want to you know I'll be incapable of imagining this Drake as anyone other than our eponymous rapper, Aubrey.

That said, good on you for getting this out there! I'll check out the preview chapter and pick this guy up when it comes out.

This is great and all and I'll be picking up a copy no question, but my face when this part came up in your summary: "Drake, Tristan and Irene are banking on a bid for freedom." Please tell me she was locked up for an incident involving two dildos.

 

Aye, young adult. But more toward the adult side of things. 13-19 is the age bracket they've placed it in. Lot of sex, drugs, and rock'n'roll in this one.
