Oh wow that was shocking, really wasn't expecting things to head that way so quickly. And as horrible as the consequences are likely to be I really hope she did just manage to kill both of them. They had it coming, you don't back people against a wall especially when it is someone who at all times never crossed certain lines and still managed to punch out ridiculously out of her weight.

 

The end of that chapter was the most intense thing I've read in years. Skitter going full badass at the end was something I wasn't seeing coming. Also Alexandria better die, cause seriously fuck that bitch.

 

I call the following things:

1) Alexandria lives but is out of commission for months

2) Skitter wakes up with the Undersiders, who along with all their remaining mercs have soundly defeated the PRT at Brockton Bay and rescued her, Alex, and Imp (But not Grue)

 

It's a binary with Alexandria: either she lives, or dies. Don't see a feasible way for her to be hurt and out of commission. They can't open her up to save her, after all.

And Holy shit. Did not expect that. At all. I thought shit was going to happen, but I assumed that it would be the Undersiders bearing the most of it. If Alexandria is actually dead (and even if she's not), it seems highly unlikely that the Birdcage won't come into play. Eagerly awaiting the next update.

 

How can she survive this? She still needs to breath... using the vacuum of space to flush the bugs out utilizing the overpressure in the blocked part of her lungs just exposes her to said vacuum..

I think you are overestimating the remnants of the Undersiders. Unless, of course, the "bringing them in as prisoners" was at least partly a head game they tried to use against Skitter and one or all of the "killed/captured" are still free. This could well be the case with the body in the bag, because Skitter couldn't bring herself to check who it was.

 

I don't know about you guys, but I thought the first 3 chapters of this book were slow and this was the one I was waiting for.

 

Holy hell. That was just crazy. To think I was getting a little bored due to the lack of action. So, quite a list of casualties due to Skitters actions. The Undersiders still have to act. Really looking forward to see what they do.

Damn, I just realized the rep Skitter would get if she actually managed to either kill or put Alexandria out of commission. Even a retreat is something only Siberian, the endbringers and few others have managed to get.

Hard for Alexandria to argue she needed lethal force. She can LolNO any of Bitch's tricks, and her minions. Even if you gave them RPGs. Shit has really hit the fan.

 

I suspect Tagg is dead; see Dinah's prediction. Alexandria is up in the air.

As to who died; I'm not sure if there was an actual body or if Alexandria actually believed putting Skitter in a corner was a good idea. Hell, getting out of situations like that is basically her power, never mind the bugs. However, I think there's a chance it could be Grue, if only because his power copying ability would force Alexandria to actually resort to lethal measures, while Bitch's wouldn't.

I'm predicting an Interlude on Tuesday; perfect time for one.

Holy shit! I was shaking at the end of that chapter and still am a bit now 10 minutes later.
I've been pretty much waiting for a major character death from the start of the story. By now I was almost convinced that it wouldn't happen.

I have one question: Why hasn't Alexandria been doing this from the start? Going after villains, I mean. If she can clean up the average villain team in a few hours or less, it wouldn't take all that long to arrest pretty much all villain teams in North America (apart from the major threats). Sending out equally matched Protectorate teams against threats is the kind of stuff stupid movie villains do. Just send out Alexandria/Legend/Eidolon every time a new villain team shows up and they are in custody within the hour. That would be a huge deterrent, which would make the tactic even more effective.

 

The Endbringers. They need the villains to fight them. The Triumvirate is only used for the biggest treats, so as long as you know your place and don't overstep the boundaries, they won't touch you. Undersiders took over the city and made a precedent. They had to make an example of them.

Also, HOLY SHIT! How am I suppose to wait 'till tuesday after this!?

 

So... I hadn't read thursdays Chapter, and I just got out of hospital from heart surgery this morning.

Had two chapters to catch up on, and holy fucking shit. That wasn't amazing for my heart.

But it was amazing in every other way.

I still don't think we'll see Skitter in the Birdcage. But fuck, after that chapter, I don't really think I can expect or call anything.

Like most of the others, I hope Alexandria and Tagg are dead, if anything, just for the reputation. Miss Militia and her father were there as a witness when she told them both, if they hurt another of the Undersiders, she'd kill them. Then she followed up on it.

The biggest problem I have, is waiting for tuesday... For fucks sake. Not only that, but going to be bored and bedridden recovering from heart surgery...

Might just reread all of Worm.

 

The story is genuinely epic. In terms of scale and what is at stake for humanity, and in terms of the detailed fleshing out of characters' motivations. Incredible story, and easily deserves to be published.

 

So why did Miss Militia lower her gun? She was killing her boss.

Why did Alexandria think what she was doing a good idea? Putting Skitter in a desperate spot would make her do desperate things; not cave. Her profile shows this. They know it. I guess they're just iiiiincredibly stupid.

 

This chapter was just holy shit.

I'm guessing Miss Militia and that other guy Alexandria was talking about will now be poised to lead the PRT. Whether Alexandria lives or dies, this sets a precedent for the people looking for messing around with Skitter.

Also, I'll be very interested to see the triumvirate's reaction to what happens to Alexandria. Ditto for Cauldron.
