Okay, I am talking about the earliest song you could remember ever worshiping.

What I mean is...

The first song that you knew by heart.

The first song you sung to yourself without even needing music.

The first you played over and over again, mouthing the words to.

For me, my first 'favorite song' is Brain Stew, by Greenday.

 

Higher Ground by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

It is quite possibly still one of my favorite songs.

 

'Achy Breaky Heart' by Billy Ray Cyrus. I was...four? Five? I remember singing it to myself and my mother still turns it off whenever it comes on because I 'sang it night and day for a year'. Fun song, gotta love the country music!

 

'Yesterday' by The Beatles, my dad used to play their albums non-stop when i was a kid and i still haven't forgot the lyrics to nearly all of their songs to this day and i've transfered every album from them that my dad owned onto my computer, and i'm still a big fan.

My friend's older brother got me into the band and I just fell in love with this song, while I went to a decent Catholic School there was something about it that made me hate it with a passion and the song appealed to my 10 year old self.

In first grade, I had a bad habit of breaking out the Pointer Sisters "I'm So Excited." Mrs. Keener mentioned it to my mom in a parent-teacher conference.

I don't think my mom will ever let me forget this fact.

Nor the time I peed in my toybox. But that's a bit off-topic.

 

Mordred's Song by Blind Guardian. I never really listened to music a lot before it - didn't see the point of it, to be honest - but I really loved that song and played it for hours at a time for at least a week.

My first song that I worshipped was The Night Santa Went Crazy by Weird Al. Do you have any idea how many people I unnerved by singing some of those lyrics?

The first real song that I worshipped was Like a Rolling Stone by Bob Dylan. My friends parents were both heavily involved in the whole "Protest Shit" Era of American History and they always had Dylan's stuff playing when I was over at his house. I ended up getting hooked on this song... Even though at the age I heard it at I was naive enough to not have a fucking clue what it was about... I just liked the music.

 

What? 'The Night Santa Went Crazy' is a real song. I think I perfer 'all about the Pentiums' though I did obssess over that song for a little while.

 

I know a little about the first situation: I was singing an Arrogant Worms song called "Kill the Dog Next Door" in class once (under my breath), and had one girl come up to me asking, "Why are you singing about killing dogs?"

My answer of "...because it's a good song?" didn't go down too well either.

 

Yeah somehow I don't think that would have gone over well... Though personally my favorite 'oopsie' music lyrics incident was when I was in 6th grade. If anyone here is familliar with Bloodhound Gang then they'll know what I'm talking about

Lmao. I had a similar experience with that band, although it was with "Foxtrot, Uniform, Charlie, Kilo." My teacher didn't really enjoy the clever innuendos, though. I got into a little (read: a LOT) of trouble. I never really understood why he freaked out so much, though...

 

The first song I ever bought was a Kylie Minogue album, which I was completely obsessed with.

I think my favorite was especially for you. It didn't help that Neighbours had started airing then, which fuelled my addiction. I actually bought the collaboration album she did with Jason Donovan.

My only saving grace is that at least I wasn't a Micheal Jackson fan, who was really popular at the time.

Just like all the others saddled with "old person songs", I grew up with Abba, because my mum (take that, American English) was playing that all the time. So the first song I remember knowing and singing along to was "Mama Mia" by Abba.

Now, although I'm not really one way or the other about them, I try to avoid being in places Abba is playing, lest I start singing along without realising (and again) and get a bunch a funny looks. I also find myself inadvertently singing along to "A Thousand Miles" by Vanessa Carlton, because I was dragged into singing it when drunk by a friend and now I know the words.

BTW, don't mind my mental jousting with American English, someone repeatedly tried correcting me, seemingly without knowing there are many ways of spelling, and now I can't help but spot out all the little differences. Also, Bloodhound Gang FTW. That is all.

 

My first favorite song was 'Purple Haze' -Jimi Hendrix. I was 4 at the time. Complete with Air Guitar solos, thank you very much

 

Wow, my first favorite song I could remember was one of those songs we listened to in Pre-school. I remember I loved the song BINGO and I would keep singing it over and over again, it went something like "There was a farmer who had a dog and Bingo was his namo" lol
