The bolded part. I was basically putting words in Raine's mouth because they were complaining that the game ends.

See, the thing about the altered paths concept we're working with here in comparison to your prestige system is that while your system does nothing but let you keep the pokemon from a previous game so you never have to get rid of them, which I really don't care about that much. You'll still be playing the same damn storyline as you gleefully rub your hands together thinking about all the uber pokemon you'll be unlocking when you beat the League and nothing matters anymore.

Our concept gives you options. You can play the entire game differently. That doesn't mean it can't be pokemon, of course- I mentioned earlier that for gym leader/champion you could institute a system similar to the Battle Frontier for challenger battles, just more personalized to suit your profession of choice. The majority of things can still be Pokemon while you play gym leader on the side (think Giovanni). Team _____ would be a bit harder to implement, yeah, but not impossible. Would just take some doing.

So yeah. What you're talking about is basically what everyone already does with pokemon, except cutting out the middle man of trading between DS's to keep your favorite 'mons. Nothing that would provide incentive to play another round.

If you want to start over and keep your pokemon you should look at ARPGs like Diablo for design inspiration - you beat the game once, then you start all over, but you keep your pokemon's levels... except all the game's challenges increase. The first gym has level 70 pokemon, or something, and the wild brush by the starter town has level 50 pokemon. It wouldn't really add anything to the game that you can't already do.

I was going to make a snide comment and maybe assess some of the ideas... but all I can reasonably come up with is that this argument is utterly idiotic and you are all terminally retarded for participating in it.

Literally reading ALL OF YOUR POSTS in the voices of angry, angsty tweens is the only way to make this halfway worthwhile.

Except for Chime. And Poytin, to a slightly lesser extent. The rest of you need to sit back, relax, and realize just how fucking stupid you are for perpetuating this....thing.

Eh, there's a difference between having a debate and being angry tweens. I'm not angry, just a little bewildered by the sudden shift in tone here.

Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum already let you do that, though. You can go re-fight all of the gyms at a higher level. I think the Elite 4 changes as well, but I can't remember. I haven't played it in some time.

Even so, if they wanted to do something like that, where you just start the 'whole' game over again, but re-level everything, they'd need to raise the level cap. If they didn't, you'd only be able to restart once. By the third playthrough, everything should be pegged at 100, and there's hardly even a point then.

One guy posting info apparently got a cease and desist letter from Gamefreak.
Also there's this which has some pretty interesting new info:
A lot of people calling it false, since WPM cited a different source for his Pancham info and a few other reasons. The X/Y gene hold items for mewtwo would be interesting, giving you specialized versions that could be strong but also keeping a regular mewtwo as a mixed attacker with other hold options very viable. While the idea for dual-type moves seems clever, I can't help but feel it would be pretty absurdly strong on the other hand. A fighting type with STAB ice/fire/thunder punches? Sounds like having a Flygon with ice drill would be pretty sweet though. The burger pokemon idea seems too farfetch'd considering how poorly the Vanilluxe line was received in general and how much rage genwunners felt for it.

And of course here is the pokebeach post by WPM that supposedly caused this guy to post everything

I'm all for fewer HMs. It was getting kind of ridiculous. Eight is my absolute limit for it, because if you have more than that, you'll need at least three Pokemon in your party with HM skills on them. Two dedicated chauffeur Pokemon I can deal with. Three is just absurd.

Preferably there would only be four HMs, so you could limit it to a single HM Pokemon, but that's almost definately shooting too low. Surf, Cut, and Strength alone make three, and there's always at least one obligatory dark area that requires Flash to navigate reasonably, so that's four enviromental moves already. Unless they cut waaay back, and nix things like Waterfall and Whirlpool, it's probably not going to go that small.

I also rather like the idea that your rival gives you their fully evolved starter at the end. That means you can have access to two of the three starters on your own game. It would also make it much easier to trade around for the one you're missing.

Some of this, though, I'm hoping isn't true. The cheeseburger sounds like the worst sort of thing from Gen V, and it's typing doesn't even make sense (why not Normal? No cheeseburger is on fire. It's not an animated grill Pokemon), and I'll be sad if you're not allowed to ride a Pokemon anywhere you please, even if it's limited to just Gogoat.

They also seem to have a really major hard on this gen for attacks that heal for the same amount of damage that they do. The electric gecko has a lighting type attack that does it, there's a Fairy type attack that supposedly does it, and the fly Pokemon also supposedly has a Poison type move that does it as well.

Honestly, I'm just hoping that Chansey and most of the Fairy egg group get retroactively made Fairy types. Jigglypuff and Clefairy are obvious shoe-ins, but I'm hoping for something more.

---------- Post automerged at 07:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:40 PM ----------

And now I'm confilcted, because I don't know which starter I want. Your aggressive rival is the one that typically takes the starter you are weak against, while the passive rival/friend takes the one you are strong against. So you can control which two starters you get.

This is kind of unusual, because now I have no idea what to take, assuming this is true. I am genuinely at an empasse, here. None of the starters look shit-tier this gen. I'd love to have a Fire/Psychic starter, that would be bitching, but Grass/Dark and Water/Fighting are pretty amazing too.

I'm actually going to have to think about this.

Just reserved X and Y with my employee discount, can't wait for October.

Gogoat seems to be agreed to only be ridden in the main town unfortunately.

If they still have random pseudo-legend encounters, finding those 5 Garshomps in a desert is definitely not good luck.

Unless they also change the stats around, fairy type is looking like more of a wall than anything. Of the listed pokemon and what I've seen as possible fairy-retypes, very few have much offensive power behind them.

Gardevoir will be decent as will an EV trained Azumarill, but really dragons are still going to be powerful as fuck and as a counter Ice will still be the better pick, considering how goddamn much they love typing dragons for 4x weakness to it (see the flying/dragon bat pokemon?).

Even then, it won't be too difficult for dragons to get coverage against fairies considering how versatile most are. Unless you're rocking one of the bunk-ass dragons like druddigon or altaria, you'll find a way to kill the big bad fairies.

I'm glad to see it though, because outrage will likely be phased out for dragon claw, poison and steel will be slightly better offensive picks (still bunk as fuck) and maybe we will see another non-dragon pseudolegendary.

    Also, FUCK horde-mode.
