It grasps with desperation and caution, it shows neither wit nor bravery. Its battles are hard won through the efforts of others, and its defeats are innumerable. It holds no loyalty amongst it's own and receives none, not even from hounds and eunuchs. Its line is spent and scattered, its heirs surrounded by thorny roses and burning sand and its honor is lowest amongst even thieves.

By what right does the wolf judge the lion? By what right does the lion defy judgment?

 

If this were true, we'd all hate the books past Storm.

 

I want to thumb up that post, but I just can't, with all of the it's instead of its.

Remember, only use the apostrophe when saying 'it is' or 'it has'!

 

It's less about hating the direction the series is going in and more about dreading what's coming while still knowing I'll enjoy all the political machinations that will follow.

 

That's one of the things I most appreciate, actually; the "good guys" will win, but it's gonna take a lot of work. And blood.

It's miles and miles better than the push button defeat evil style of storytelling. Unless you're really attached to a character in which case yeah, GRRM is going to eat your soul.

I'm quite looking forward to the show-only people's reaction to Robb's end in particular.

 

I'm quite the opposite. I'm not at all looking forward to the "good guys" winning. They're generally incompetent assholes who really need to be Darwined. Fuck them.

In fact, I don't think that there's any one of them (except maybe Sansa) that I see as good and want to see succeed and not a different breed of asshole with the particular set of traits that we generally empathize with more in this genre and who we're more likely to like because we saw them first.

I wonder how they are going to portray just how fucked up the Frey's betrayal was. In the books constantly mention the guest rights and just how everyone upholds it, and it makes Robb going there more understandable.

In the show though, I don't remember instances where they've mentioned the guest thing and I think the show only viewers will loose something

 

Commander Mormont vaguely mentioned it before the mutiny broke out. Also, the show's creators would want to avoid telegraphing it too much; tonight's ep will probably feature a scene of it being brought up in prep for the RW in Ep 9, and if not tonight, it'll be at the start of Ep 9 during the initial Frey meeting, and then mentioned a few times after the fact, in Ep 10 and next few seasons. No big deal, really.

Cersei is just hilarious at this point. She's not even trying to be diplomatic anymore.

 

Tyrion amd the Queen of Thornsmare the most awesome characters in television. By far. Peter Dinklagr is awesome. And Cersei? She is a really fucked up Broken Bird. Hate Loras, whining idiot.

Lena and Dinklage interactions are epic. They are full of hate, regret, wiity banter and a developing mutual respect, even if is begrundgily.

Wonder if they gonna do the Red Wedding and Joffrey's Wedding together, nah, it would be an overload of shit happening.

 

Was anyone else expecting the White Walker to be burned out from the inside instead of splintering into ice crystals? It's dragon glass after all. I found that scene rather lacking, considering its import to the plot.

Hm, surprised. The main criticism I see is that Sam dropped the fucking dragonglass blade. Pretty sure that everyone mentions that one.

I have to say, I wonder if Sam and Edmure will ever redeem themselves on the show. Edmure's greatest moment is turned into a complete fumble and Sam...Sam is a worthless Night's Watchman. A good person but absolute shit in terms of competence.

A shame really.
