I think it was because 1) Tywin hated Tyrion, and 2) Tyrion married her. As long as Harry doesn't marry Aeryn or voice a desire to marry her, I think Tywin will advise him to keep it discrete but overall I don't think he's really going to care about Aeryn.

I'm sure Genna consulted with Tywin before agreeing to accept Aeryn as a handmaiden, so he's probably already well aware there's a decent chance Harry and Aeryn will be together in a handful of years.

    I agree with that.

    Regarding Harry's magic:

Is Harry's connection with the Stranger going to play a larger part later in the story then? Or was it just to parallel the Master of Death/set up the story?

I love how everyone was treating it was like it was some trashy romance fic. He will be with X because hurr durr, no Y because incest is hot, etc etc.

Harry thinks of him as the Stranger because he was raised to believe in the Seven. You should call him Death, the One True God. And yes, it will play a part.

This right here. When the romance happens it'll be as visceral and realistic as I can make it, but it won't be the focus of the story. A chapter, maybe, but not the story. Harry isn't Daenerys... he isn't going to spend chapters pining after some hot woman's cunt like she pined for Daario's cock.

He'll have a war to fight, thank you very much.

He should pine for her ass, instead. Round and firm and supple and....

    Kidding, kidding.

No, seriously. Good show with this bit, gives me hope.

I need to stop reading this thread, because Cxjenious keeps dropping all these little hints that make me want to read more so much.

Seriously, I'm not even a huge GoT fan (sacrilege, I know) but I'm more excited about seeing the next chapter of this than 99% of the other stories I'm reading.

Yeah. Fucking Cxjenious, telling us about the awesome shit he's gonna write instead of actually writing it :p.

So, never seen/read GoT/ASoIF, though I read a couple chapter's of this, and then the first two episodes of GoT. Thus, I don't really know if the characterization of everyone is true to form or not, so I can't say much there.

As far as I'm concerned, this fic is awesome. Enough has happened in the two episodes I've watched, to see how much Canon could become fucked up by all this, and from what everyone else here has said, it probably will.

There's really not much I can say that hasn't already been said, but there is one thing. Some people seem to be forgetting that, despite having all of his previous life's memories, they're more akin to watching a movie, or reading a good story, than he actually remembers living it. Harry Baratheon, for all that he's Harry Potter, is still his own person in a lot of ways. While he might use his memories for inspiration, as guide as to how one should live their life with morals and such, there may be points where he diverges with the Harry Potter of his memories in unexpected ways.

At least, that's how I see it.

Also, this is probably more because of my lack of knowledge on Canon, but I for one support Harry/Aeryn as pairing, though obviously she probably won't end up as his wife.

But I am writing it! I don't have a definite date for the next chapter, but I think I should have it finished in the next two weeks or so, maybe sooner. It probably won't take quite that long, but I don't want to rush anything.

    Or get anyone's hopes up.

After all the fanboy wanking here I decided to give the HBO show a chance. The subject matter isn't really high on my to-read list. However, I watched the first four episodes and then went out to purchase the books. The show stays fairly close to the source material for what I've seen so far, most of the time word for word. There are mixing of scenes which is usually inevitable, etc. Whoever wrote the screenplay to that point did a great job.

So, it's a decent representation of the source material.

And since I'm here... Great story so far! I hope all the speculation and expectations of everyone here doesn't sour writing the story for you. From the looks of things they are expecting nothing short of a masterwork. However, from the looks of what I've read, they've almost got reason. Damn good work. 5/5 for the first arc.

Show Tywin is such a cool douchebag even when he shits all over Tyrion's day it came off as awesome...I hope OP does him justice.

Well, he's even more of a douchebag in the books. TV Tywin atleast had the scenes with Arya in which he showed some emotion and affection for his children and the like.

But yeah, he's my favorite character. So hopefully OP catches him perfectly. :)

I think its just actually hearing him and his awesome accent. And the actor playing him is a total boss.

I hear Charles Dance in my head when I write Tywin's dialogue.

Having never read GoT, I think this is a great fic. Excellent character development and writing.

I don't know if you care about it being accessible to people outside the GoT fandom, but the only thing that really was hard to keep straight was the relationships between people. Renly, Stannis, Kevan, Jaime, etc. were all confusing, especially since they're all approached from Harry's POV, so they're pretty much all just called uncle. Just referring to Kevan as "the Lannister" or something like that would have helped avoid a wiki trip.

That's a good point. I'd read the books a couple years ago (haven't seen the t.v. show) and I had trouble figuring out how people were related. I had some moments of confusion where I couldn't tell who was whose sibling, although I figured it out/remembered as I went along.

There are enough characters in ASoI&F that you could read it a dozen times and still lose track of who is related to whom.

I left a review on ff.net, but I'll put a rating here of 5/5. Good show, old boy!

Are you sure we can't corrupt you to turn this into a trashy, C-grade harem story? The tears would be pretty delicious. And it seems like you'll be getting 10 PMs a day telling you to pair Harry up with somebody else, you don't want that, do you?
