Even if that was my true intention for a joke, by now, it's about as fun as poking a box full of chalk powder.

p.s. And it's not one bit as fun as it sounds.

I was under the impression that a Fidelius got weaker the more people are in on the secret. Only the designated Secret Keeper can reveal it, sure, but brute forcing it magically might be easier if more people know..? It doesn't make 100% sense but magic usually doesn't.

Not to rehash the PS debate too much but remember that Dumbledore's main downfall is his tendency to think he's the only one who can do things competently. The Stone is at Hogwarts instead of setting up the defense gauntlet in a Gringott's vault because Dumbledore is a fuckin' busy guy and wants to keep an eye on everything while remaining at his home base.

Sounds like Fanon to me. I don't remember anything from the books about being able to "brute force" your way through a fidelius charm. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's stated, explicitly, that the only way around it is to have the secret keeper tell you (willingly? don't remember).

It gets weaker in that everyone who knew the secret becomes a secret keeper when the original secret keeper dies. The "brute force" thing doesn't really apply.

We are talking of the wizard who went toe to toe with Grindelwald and Voldemort. We saw in DH how hopelessly outmatched the trio of Minerva, Horace and Kingsley were against Voldemort. So, Dumbledore thinking only he can stand against Voldemort can be justified.

It can also point out to Dumbledore taking up the burden himself to keep others out of harm's way if the dark presence indeed turns out to be Voldemort.

That was the impression I got, yes. It made me laugh. :p

I'm also in the camp of limiting Fidelius for fanfics. Even if it doesn't match up perfectly with what we know from canon. Get it close enough and people will usually accept a few tweaks if you make what you're doing/changing clear.
