The technology bit, problably is blocked by his memory fog, the same reason that he hasn't that many memories of other aspects of his preterite life...
Not to mention that I can't see Cannom Harry keeping up with muggle technologies..problably his memories of it aren't strong enough, different from the magical ones, that were much more present in his life.

On the behavior of the carachters... I can't say much, but we are seeing the story by Harry's eyes, and he has the memories of a twohundread years on his head. So, even if the memories are somewhat dislocated, he is more mature than the other people with his age (a fact that has Being mentioned multiple times already).

On the other hand, the moder idea of children behavior it's completely different from what it was on the time period despicted on the story.
People died early, adulthood by that reason tended to start early, so children were expected to growup early.
And if I am not mistaken, that's the reason for the use of the series ages and not the books, as, for the series, the children were older, so to not alienate the usual viewer.

And that is why we cannot have a nice things. But in case of medicine difference is more than noticeable, even more in comparison to magical world.

There is no point in mentioning huge differences in technology. Wishing for better medecine, electricity is of no use to him, unless he was a doctor or an engineer of some kind in his previous life. And he wasn't.

However what he can work with proficiency is magic.

And tbh, 9 year olds behaving like him probably was common in the Middle Ages. You were expected to mature quite fast in those times.

And the fact that he is still in a child's body, with a child's mind. It's still developing, when he enters puberty he'll be prone to fits of teenage drama and crushes just like in his old life.

I want to pop in and say that I quite like the choice of age.

...but then I'm always partial to young protagonists when they're done well (like in this case).

I kind of underestimated how much I needed to wrap up in this chapter before the time-skip. It might take a day or three to iron out the final draft.

You could always, you know, post a pre-final draft in WBA.

That is the point of WBA, after all.

(Or you could PM me it. That would also work.)

Don't tempt him, Harry might suffer the sudden loss of his head.

Haha, if Dumbledore knew what his words would one day be used to justify...

Good chapter, if a bit slow.

One nitpick is that Aeryn really shouldn't know how to ride well.

Another is that we're introduced to an awful lot of Sers this chapter and many of them are quite forgettable. If we're meant to forget them, fine. If we're meant to be able to recognise their names in the future, that's a problem. If the latter I'd suggest cutting down on the number of knights given real screen time so that we remember each individual more.

I noticed a lot of people mentioned Jon's suspicions. It was Stannis who brought the issue to him, from my understanding.

I'll make note of that. I hadn't really thought about it.

I don't expect you to remember the knights and guards from one chapter. They don't really do much. They will 'feature' in this arc, though, and subsequent arcs. My hope is that you eventually do recognize their names. A few of them, anyway.

I suppose I could break it up some - the guards at least - over the next couple chapters.

There'll be a few. I want each chapter to roughly cover 1.5 years, give or take a few months here and there. There'll be the events around Harry's 11th (or 12th, if you want to be technical) nameday, the massive celebration of his 13th, and then the culmination of this arc and the start of Game of Thrones.

Yeah, after the fourth or fifth guard background in a row they all started to blend together. You might want to introduce them only in their relevant chapter, because otherwise...

Otherwise what? Lol, you'll have to refer back to the chapter to refresh your memory? I've had to do that for actual published novels.

...otherwise they blend together. To be redundant.
