I retract my statement. We have now seen a single new (in the sense that it's never actually been seen before officially) creature confirmed.

But the combat also looks like it's going to run on ticks instead of being real hack-and-slash, and that's a huge turnoff for me.

I want an Elder Scrolls MMO that plays like Dragon's Dogma, but the pawns are other people, and not AIs.

I'll give them some credit: that's an entirely new skeleton they're basing the Wamasu on. This is a massive improvement over their bullshit Coldharbour Daedra that look like goth Spriggans. I don't think it deserves it's own thirty second video (it should have been shown off in a compilation of new things instead), but still. They made a new one.

I'll be impressed when they confirm the Black Marsh for Werelions, Werecrocodiles, murderous tree-dwelling lizards, lethal feather serpents, Hackwings, Nagas, Rootworms, Swamp Leviathans, Voriplasms, and everything else that's supposed to be there but has never been seen.

It's going to take more than a thunder lizard to impress this lorefag.

 

To be fair, Hist trees are the oldest sentient creatures in existence IIRC, so I'm sure there's plenty of oddness to explore in this and the future if anyone even scratches the surface of the lore.

 

So PS4 is getting the beta first. Huh.

 

The trailer was actually okay. The graphics are decent now, which is nice.

It's still absolute shit-tier, rapes the lore, and I won't play it, though.

Necroing to ask, is anyone here actually in the beta? Each successive video they've released about it just makes me progressively sadder, more disappointed, and more convinced that this is going to fail. But I'm curious. Anyone here in on it?

Last thing I heard it was cancelled or delayed for unknown amount of time. The beta was supposed to be long ago.

 

I thought they sent out all the invites already. I just gave up on it since I don't have a graphics card anymore anyway.

 

Have a few guildies in beta right now, there is actually a stress test today. I disagree I feel that the interview on mmorpg.com and one other which finally gave us some new info, such as no global AH, which I have mixed feelings about, and how crafting will work, actually renewed my hopes for the game.

I got an email with a beta key for the stress test or whatever, but I'm not going to use it. I have no idea if you can still sign up for it, but if you can't, and want to play, I'll send the key to whoever wants it first.

Edit: I was interested, but I don't really have the time for it...whoever got it would be expected to post a few updates on gameplay ^_^

It can only be too soon, when MMOs stop copying WoW.

If they were smart, they'd cull thet global AH idea. Make people trade in person. Cuts down on abuse and chinese farming. Makes items more valuable too. MMOs don't exist because people wanted to interface with an auction screen all day.

 

I've played MMOs without an auction system. Gold farmers still existed, abuse still happened (guess how easy it is to trick a newbie into trading/dropping that awesome item he just found?), and selling your extra crap was a massive pain in the ass. I ended up warehousing/vendoring the vast majority of my drops unless I got something especially good that I knew I could sell quickly.

That's not to say the game wasn't fun - I did spend nearly 5 years playing it, after all - but when they introduced the auction system after a few years, I jumped for joy because it meant I didn't have to leave my account logged in at all hours and/or spend all day shouting in world chat to sell stuff.

Yes, some people abuse the system, and there are people who do nothing but stare at the auction screen all day and get filthy rich doing it, but overall, I think it creates a better experience for the players. I know I'd much rather be actually levelling my character rather than sitting around trying to sell items.

 

Yes. Pity there's no loot system that allows you to spend those items in rituals, break them down into crafting components, or automatically liquidate them into half their listed price in gold if you truly have no use for it.
